True that, make a nice sofa that if you cut it up, then make coffee tables and stuff out of the other parts. Then use the front seats for sim rigs and sell those too.

I would love to put Mercedes chairs in my desk, work from home has never been more lux. Turn the rear seats into a sofa. That sound system good enough to give an amazing surround sound setup. I'm sure it's possible to rig the massaging for the seats too. Can sell other parts of the car steering wheel, screen, etc make back more than $1000

I remember the days when people bought Mercedes and BMW because they outlasted other brands. The value proposition was you could keep them 20 yrs and 300,000 miles. Now everything is a commodity. Pity.

      I’ve got a 20yr old W211 chassis E500 (Naturally aspirated 5.0L V8, non-AWD) with 168k on it.
I redid all the control arms, tie rods, ball joints, engine and transmission mounts, alternator, batteries, tires, brakes, cooling flush, power steering lines, power steering pump, and valve cover gaskets after I got it. Still need to replace all the air struts but they all hold air and work still (Bilstein B4/AMG E55 Airmatic setup, and yes I’m keeping it working with Arnott E55 replacements).
Paid $1,700 for the car that came with a set of rims worth about $300-500 a piece, put about $2k in parts and my own labor and I’ve got one of those very Mercedes you mentioned that was engineered to last 300k miles+
They don’t make them like they used to.

Some say if you take super good care of it, it will last forever. But it'll be all that $$$ spent for that regular maintenance. Either way, Mercedes is getting all your money. The only thing worse than the service labor costs are the parts. What’s not expensive is hard to find and expensive! He’s tried to sell me several of these beautiful cars of the years. If they only had Toyota running gear they’d be perfect.

After they break out the defibrillator, often the dealership will pass on his information as someone who can work on high end German Machines. He’s my age, in his early 60s, and has worked in several of the dealerships and was factory trained but doesn’t want to work 40 hours a week anymore. The good news is that most of these folks that own these kinds of cars own several cars, so they don’t mind if it takes weeks to get things fixed. And nowadays, getting parts can take weeks anyway, so you best not be in a hurry.

Someone please correct me if I’m wrong because I’m not from America so this guy has a garage/dealership had a good deal with the guy he was buying it from originally so that when it was going to get a new engine in it he could straight up flip it for cash but instead the owner couldn’t deal with the hassle so sold it to the garage/dealership for his £28000 total but the garage technically paid £1000 total for the car then brought a salvaged engine and put it in with the new engine mounts and all the other service he said it needed for however much he paid for that I don’t know if this guy does the work on the cars himself but given he’s a garage/dealership registered business he might have gotten a below RRP for the engine mount and other components and fixed it himself or with his employees and has sold it before he’s even fixed it for a £27000 so I guess he saved a lot of money doing all the hassle work and got the original owner a quick sell and sold it for a good quick sell price himself I’m guessing if he would have brought it off the owner originally he would have made maybe $1000-$2000 but instead he made a lot more and is possibly the best way the deal could have went for all 3 party’s the original owner/seller himself the garage/dealership and the customer and this car is always going to be well looked after as it still goes back to the garage that has now sold it to the second owner if this is in a climate that is nice and hot/dry I can see this S class body and chassis reached a good 200,000-250,000 miles again please correct me if any of this is wrong

We just happened to buy the vehicle afterward which ended in the net $1000 out of pocket to buy the car. Interesting fact actually with a VSC and especially a contract maxing claim, the VSC has no interest in the repair of the vehicle. Trust us, you think with a business to uphold that we would want to do that? Perhaps some thought would be warranted before making assumptions.
