bri bart ㅋㅋㅋ Wish I had a stack of 50,000 won bills. Unfortunately, 50,000 won not equal to $50,000 USD. Although a bundle of 50,000 won bills (don't know how many bills in a bundle/currency strap. 20? 25?) would still be a sizable amount in USD.
Apparently Korean Won notes are actually regarded as one of the best and safest banknote systems in the world, up there with the Euro and Canadian Dollar, and significantly ahead of US Dollar and Pound Sterling notes.
I love the part when you take us to the stores! When traveling what I love most is every little things, such as going to the convenience store, experiencing living as a normal resident of the country. I'd love to watch more video like this :)
Nada same! Like, i wanna go to korea and ride the subways and buses, go to stores and cafes, and just be a regular person, not like a typical vacation...
I'm going to Korea in few months and I was honestly so scared of the money, because ours is sooooo different. But this video helped me calm down a bit, lol!
Wow! they speak so fast.. I could barely hear and understand the Korean even though I could read the sentence at the bottom lol. I'm going to be so screwed when I visit T_T
Caramel Macchiato my theory (as I haven't done any research on the matter) is that in our own native language our brains don't actually listen for every word but instead kinda feel it in based off what we have heard billions of times. All that to say resisten to things you don't understand as much as possible slow it down at first if you have to then normal speed then even speed it up. I feel like over time your brain will get used to the speed. It works for me so maybe it will work for you as well.
This video, combined with the one explaining big numbers, is such a useful and practical one. I've used Korean money before, but this is the first time I see an actual review of the whole system, with the name of each item. Thanks for this!
The Hanguel writing system (Korean alphabet) was created from scratch by King Sejong to completely avoid the need for Korean people to learn Chinese characters. Hanguel is not based on or derived from Chinese characters.
So I'm guessing: 1,000 Won= about $1 5,000 Won= about $5 10,000 Won= about $10 50,000 Won= about $50 Yes or no? And what about the coins, what's their worth in USC?
Thank you !! According to the online calculator I used, Unnie paid less than 4$ US dollars for that curling iron. Time to travel to Korea!! I'm going shopping .....!
slylover123 is very common for Koreans. For example they use to pronounce 나두 instead of 나도; they also write that way on comics or in 반말 (informal speech).
The exchange rate of Korean 1000 won to Mexican peso is 17.00 pesos but if you compare to other currencies like 1 US dollar is 18.00 pesos 1 Canadian dollar is 13.00 pesos 1 euro is 22.00 pesos Japanese 100 yen is 17.00 pesos and last uk sterling pounds is 25.00 pesos ..I love the color of the Korean money and Mexico money is also with colors I love the $1,000 Mexican peso banknote very purplelish
The image in the blank area of the bill is called a "watermark". U.S. currency has this also, starting with denominations of $10 or greater. However, unlike U.S. paper currency, where all bills are the same size, Korean paper money varies considerably in width. Larger denominations are wider.
Kind of looks like Mexican money hahah I would of like if she would of said how much it was in dollars. I know a bit but I get confused when the amount is higher.
Illa GG hahahahaa that's right. A Korean friend of me gave me some Korean paper money and of course, the colors are very similar so I've compared to Mexican money :)
When I first learned about your currency I was so surprised that the numbers were so large. Then I realized that you don't have decimals instead. My currency is called "Krona" [크로나] (meaning crown, abbreviated SEK, literally "single Swedish crown"), and 1 of those is around 125-130 won. However, for a long time we also had our own version of cents called "öre", the name derived from the latin word aureus meaning golden. They have been removed in cash, but since we used them for so long and we didn't multiply our currency by 100 when removing them, our products still frequently cost for instance 10.50 SEK. This means 10 SEK + 50 öre. 1 of those öre would then be 1.25-1.30 won. So understanding that, I can now simply think of using won as something similar to using our version of cents when counting money.
She helped me a lot to learn Korea and Korean language she awesome and when I will come from India to Korea I meet her I don't know when I will meet her
King Sejong ordered Hangul to be created because the Koreans had a very hard time learning the Chinese ideographic writing system lol. By default, he was a great leader.

50,000won is about $50

5,000won is about $5
1,000won is about $1

100won is about 10 cents
The only reason I say "About" is because every 1 won is like 0.00094 dollar so they aren't set because it's just a liiittle less when converted to USD. Like 50,000won is close to 50 us dollars but it's a couple dollars short
