Hello! We were wondering if it would be possible to use Dr Melina's video on what are parabens as an educational video that would be circulated in an effort to educate the masses as to the dangers of paraben? Thank you!
Hi. Are you basing this information on peer reviewed articles? The lack of nuance regarding quantities etc is concerning. I don’t believe this is an accurate representation of what parabens are. Saying they can disrupt hormones - sure. But in what situation?
they disrupt your hormones when the sit on the shelf in your bathroom closet. when you ingest them or slather them on your body, silly! but really, she’s right. these chems do these things. And since everyone is different and is exposed to different environments and products, and since these are never labeled in quantities…some people like to minimize their risk. People who are sensitive to hormone imbalances…people who have fertility issues and wanting to conceive,…people who have hormone imbalances and would like to decrease variables…etc. While you’re at it, being all skeptic-y(good for you), look up vinyl, BPA, phthalates, and phyto estrogens. suddenly the phrase “soy boy” makes more sense. everyone is entitled to their own personal hormone balances and fertility and your gloves, fake meat and shampoos are impinging on that right, 😝
@@threestans9096 thanks for your reply! There are two things that concern me. 1) that “parabens” are seen as one thing when there are so many variants. Surely length of the carbon chains etc would have an effect on how ‘dangerous’ they are/how they absorb etc. 2) parabens can disrupt hormones but from what I understand they have to be injected under the skin and in large quantities. In that situation - yes, they can be disruptive. But putting on some hand cream? I dunno. I don’t mean to be otherwise 😅 but I hate to see people just take information at face value because someone who calls themselves a doctor says so! I think everyone should get a little deeper into some journal articles every now and then!
Very well explained, thanks very much for your time
Thanks for sharing this important information, now I understand why my mom told me to stop coloring my hair 32 years ago after she visited her Dr. 😮
"Anything you put on your skin gets absorbed" If this were true, all medications would be topical or patches. This simply isn't how skin works.
I absorb oxygen through my skin 😅
Thank you!!! It’s in a lot of our products over the counter!! 😮
