- Test panning for gold can be a great way to find specific locations worth running a sluice, highbanker, or even metal detector. The amount of black sand, number and size of colors, or lack of both can give you good indicators of whether or not a spot is worth coming back to. In a previous video the KIa gets a bad rap when "swallowed" up in mud hole. In this episode it makes a tough crossing look easy. Actually josh volunteered to haul me and partner with a big pile of mining equipment to these claims on a worse trail and creek crossing. I was very pessimistic when he showed up at the parking area with the "kamakaz Kia....". He said : "Trust me and Kia". It did just fine!
