    The rear projection diffuser is the plane which stops the projector's image and diffuses the blobs. When an object is hovered over the touch surface it appears out of focus to the camera beneath. As it comes in contact with the touch surface, such as your finger touching it, it comes into focus and the camera sees it as a blob due to the reflected IR light. Please see our diffuser page on our website for a review of a few different materials you can use for this RP layer.

    @WaYoH676 A fiducial marker is simply an object that has a pattern on the underside that is placed on the surface and the camera below sees. There are many examples of fiducial tables on the internet, for instance you can search for the ReacTable system to see a setup which the fiducial objects control music loops.

  • @PeauProductions
    @PeauProductions  11 років тому

    Yes you can, any type of rear projection or diffuser will work.

  • @PeauProductions
    @PeauProductions  11 років тому

    Yes. The tracking software outputs TUIO commands so you just need a TUIO mouse driver to convert TUIO into mouse controls.

    Most applications are custom built for certain end-users, often companies looking to install such a setup. There are a few software suites/apps around that you can purchase but many more coming. Peau Productions for instance is in the process of launching our large-screen-format MT software store which you can see on our online store under the Software section (we have a few free games there now).

    @dogg06 The "IR sensor" in these setups are essentially the cameras tracking the IR light blobs.

    @PeauProductions  12 років тому

    @KrunchieHD I don't know what method you are asking about, but any method that uses the LEDs along the edges should typically be at least 8-10mm thick. You want it large enough so that as much light from the LEDs goes into the sides of the acrylic.

  • @PeauProductions
    @PeauProductions  12 років тому

    Yes the camera driver is free to download from Code Laboratories for Windows or maccam for Mac OS. You can power the LED frame via USB but it is recommended you power them with the wall outlet.

    Hi, congratulations, your table is great! Could you please tell me where can i find that tipe of sensor? and.. what is the setup for the camera.. i mean how do i fix it to trigger when the sensor gets something?

  • @PeauProductions

    You need the LEDs in FTIR to light up the inside of the clear acrylic. When the LED light is bouncing around, it's the coupling of the silicon layer to this IR filled acrylic that creates the frustrated light point. The frustrated light is then tracked by the camera as an x,y mouse point.

  • @PeauProductions
    @PeauProductions  12 років тому

    Yes you can combine different methods in a single setup, though some work better combined than others.

  • @PeauProductions
    @PeauProductions  10 років тому

    Yes, anything to focus the projected image on will work though some diffuser/rear projection layers will have better image quality.

    @kastaramation You must always have ccv up and running to have the camera tracking your fingers. You can have it start up automatically when you start your computer if you want.

    We used 780nm 25mw lasers which are available on our store. Now that we carry the 850nm lasers we recommend those since they are further from visible light and your tracking will be better.

    A fiducial marker is simply a pattern that the camera recognizes and is programmed to do something with it appears/rotates/moves etc. It's similar to a QR code in a way.

    Hello. great video thanks for sharing.
    i saw it several times and maybe i am tired and i can not see something that is clear but the question is that i want to make this for bars/pubs and i want to put a glass or acrilic in the top.
    As i see in every model i will always touch the rear projection screen or a silicon screen so the time to break in a bar is very slow.
    are there any metoth to put the glass on the top and have the good effect when you put a glass or you just want to play with it?

    I've read the book and i like the video so much .. however i don't know from where to buy the endlighten acrylic for the DSI setup i can't figure it out on the peauproduction .. what is the size i should go with as well ?

    @PeauProductions i know but how did you get the ir to follow and light up you fingers

  • @PeauProductions
    @PeauProductions  12 років тому

    The infrared lit-up fingers are tracked by a camera placed underneath the touch surface, which is hooked to a computer that processes the tracked image and converts the touch points into x,y mouse movement.

  • @sikz26300
    @sikz26300 12 років тому

    Would that then be similar to the pinch zoom functions on common touch phones/tablets?

  • @PeauProductions
    @PeauProductions  12 років тому

    That depends on your projector and its projection capabilities (such as the projection distance needed to make the desired 32" image). You should get a short throw projector and then measure by hand what the projection throw distance is. Then build your box around that.

    You have to take the LCD completely apart and place the camera below the LCD image layer. Top to bottom on a typical DSI LCD setup is: Mar Resist Clear Acrylic -> Endlighten -> LCD layer -> Diffuser from Backlight -> Clear Acrylic for support of LCD layer. You can get mar Resist Endlighten to reduce your layers. The camera goes in the bottom of the box. You will want to add additional white LEDs for a brighter backlight.

  • @PeauProductions

    The PS Eye camera is attached to the computer via USB. The LEDs are simply plugged into the electrical outlet. The projector is inside the box and the video cable runs out a hole to the computer on the ground.

    If you need a sealed, glass top surface you will need to look into making only the DSI or Rear DI methods. These methods locate the LEDs and rear projection layer underneath the top touch layer.

    @Vorror44 Just take the LCD apart and place the LCD matrix under the Endlighten. Please see the NUIGroup Forums for people who have built LCD DSI setups.

    Hi,
    I am about to build an FTIR Table.
    I have some questions:
    At the LED Frame, how much is the approximate distance between two IR LEDs?
    How many LEDs should I use per Meter?
    Could I use a IR LED Strip? (Basically, to avoid soldering/wiring)
    And how should the LEDs be placed at the frame? Should the Acrylic be drilled to fit the LEDs?
    Thanks in Advance.

  • @PeauProductions
    @PeauProductions  12 років тому

    @dogg06 Yes you can but the software to determine where the object is between the diode and receiver would take awhile to figure out. We sell Infrared Touch Frames that are ready to use frames using this type of detection (no camera). See our online store for pricing and sizes.

    You can use a normal webcamera but you need to cut out the IR blocking glass filter inside the camera's original lens. You illuminate your fingers with IR light and webcameras off the shelf can't see IR light so you have to modify the lens. We sell modified PS Eye cameras on our store if you want to purchase one ready to go.

    • @PeauProductions

      Yes, it may be too thin or incorrectly made. Also, the edges of your acrylic may not be polished "glass-smooth" enough or your LEDs too few or not bright enough.

  • @PeauProductions

    You cannot use a Kinect camera on a setup such as described in these videos because the IR laser grid emitted but the Kinect cannot pass through a diffuser on these touch screens. You can build a setup using the Kinect but you won't be able to touch the display surface. You have to use a typical IR computer camera for this.

    Hello! How do you imagine to use this frame ( 12:10 ) as LCD touch frame? Surely something more is needed, some IR detector line on at least two branches of the frame?
    EDIT:
    I've just read your reply for this question on instructables.com but I don't understand what you mean by saying "separate the layers so that the camera is between the backlight and the image producing layer (LCD matrix)." This camera would have to have AOV almost 180 degrees as I understand...

    • @PeauProductions
      @PeauProductions  8 років тому

      +drakedakes You separate the layers of the LCD a large distance, so that the camera FOV sees the entire LCD image. In the example box shown in these videos the backlight is under the camera on the bottom of the box.
