    This lady is very intelligent, she also has a large ego. These two ingredients mixed with a third Ai is the reason people have good reason to worry.

    The intro is great, "It's all B-S, if you don't think for yourself ". Of course we need machines to do the "thinking" if the populace have stopped, for whatever reason.
    The "market" that's left to AI to play is a child's toy, it will get smashed. When the reason for the market, optimization of an economy is the objective, then it's all about the proper use of tools again.
    The teaching of the humans, to know what is in the human interest generally, instead of selected individuals, is the inevitable purpose of Augmented Intelligence?
    And if older people seem to be more mechanical in their thinking, because experience builds caution, that's genuine artificial intelligence, - because younger is smarter not wiser; and chance testing of ideas is equivalent in effect to the Quantum Computing concept of parallel processing. I'd rather we invest in augmented teaching than autonomous machines.
    Great talk.

    People need to be introduced to RBE. Forget UBI / UBS (resource based ecocomy, universal basic income / services)

    Yeah... If good people reject AI then bad people will rule them.

    Manic for me is epic/great... depression is the problem... killed some I know and half kills me, I have never medicated, I believe most times I can deal, when anxiety hits as well I find it hard, lived long enough now that triggers are obvious and the treatment is easy, camping, bush walking, finding stuff that's funny and a great bunch of mates, things to avoid: drugs, random hook ups, bad people. I highly doubt robots can beat humans at everything, AI will be awesome, but Humans can do several things better than anything ever will... art, love, music and emotion.

    Bait and Switch ...
    Bait: Predict glucose levels, learning problems, depression and suicide. SAVE LIVES ! Automate everything. Let humans be FREE to explore true human potential !
    Switch: Everybody should be surveilled in detail 24-7, and analyzed constantly ... by WHO? ... Well ... the owners of the technology off course.
    I think we must eliminate ownership entirely ... :/

      Isn't this what Musk is doing with his company? Democratize AI technology.

    • @ZappyOh
      @ZappyOh 6 років тому

      No ... Musk (and google and universities etc., who are 'open-sourcing' their AI-developments) are only spreading knowledge about AI, not spreading ownership. Cutting edge AI needs financial muscle and big data to develop. Not something you do in your garage, albeit you might have the knowledge.
      What I'm talking about is large companies (and governments) who have money, and options to collect big data needed for training powerful AI ... Our problem is precisely WHO gets to decide what this money and data is used to train for ... Optimizing share value? ... strategizing for world domination?
      If you believe AI is an important and extremely powerful technology, you should be very diligent in thinking about who gets to wield it, and who don't.
      This is dangerous times indeed!

      I mean... what do you think GitHub is?
      You want a robust AI? You can make your own using only open source code from GitHub.

    • @ZappyOh
      @ZappyOh 6 років тому +1

      Dr. Zoidberg ... I think you miss my point:
      Powerful AI-development is not possible with mainstream computers, a couple of hours and small datasets. You can play for sure, but not develop anything of real value.
      No, a serious investment in hardware, time and large structured datasets is required.
      So ... who has that? ... and what are their motives?

      It would depend on who is accessing what information, for what purposes. The problem, ultimately, is that individuals will have information that they don't know what to do with. If you have problems with your health, you can explain that to a doctor, and they can come up with a diagnosis, but you're not going to be a very effective doctor to yourself, as it stands, so it is helpful for a doctor to be able to gather useful medical data about you, to determine a treatment. Likewise, if you have a vehicle that is not properly operating, you're going to have to take that vehicle into a mechanic for them to appraise the damage, thereby relinquishing information about your property to someone you are negotiating a repair service with.
      In and of itself, helping these sorts of services take place faster and more efficiently, is not the problem, so much as negotiating who is allowed the release of what information, and on what terms.
      That having been said, a parent having a ton of ongoing information on their family-members probably possesses some kind of cut-off point based on mental development, that needs to be established, if we're advocating for the autonomy of the individual.
      Or we could all just become some kind of cybernetic colonial-organism that no longer functions as individual humans. I guess it's all really a matter of taste.

    Techno-nerdism w/ no idea about EROEI, energy boundaries, entropy, fuel requirements or availability of energy gradients. Ah well, I used to believe everything could be solved with information too, then I realized the energy requirements of computation and looked at the energy/material gradients available...
