My accident was in a 2016 ionic hybrid and the safety feature of set distance cruise control didn't help me when I fell asleep at the wheel 10 days after my dad's funeral. My car went off the road at full 65mph and I hit a tree bank along the highway in rural Nebraska. It should have sensed the ditch and trees and slowed me down but it didn't. I was not flown from the car but I was upside down head under steering wheel and feet stuck in headrests according to first responders at the scene. If it wasn't for them I most likely would have bled out into my brain and the glass splintered into a bunch of sharp pieces that are still to this day still some under my skin. The glass shouldn't have done that and if the safety feature would have worked id probably not have such severe post accident complications with nerves in my legs and back or any of the major short term memory problems. Thank God my Toroe sunglasses stayed on my face and protected my eyes from the glass or is probably be blind today. I really wish car companies would make cars safe enough that they'd be able to trust their own children in them to be safe in case of an accident.
