My great uncles, Charles and Frederick Hartwick joined the 52nd Illinois Volunteer Infantry in January 1864 and were with Sherman's Army during the Atlanta Campaign. They both were mustered out in July of 1865 in Chicago.
My great great great grandfather joined the 22nd Illinois Volunteer Infantry. He fought in the battles of Chattanooga, Chickamauga, and Stones River. Discharged the end of 1864 I think.
My Great Grandfather was in the IL 58th Infantry, Company A. He stayed in and alive all 4 years❤. My brain cannot even fathom what these men went through and their families at home.

My ancestor came out of Macoupin County joining the 122. He died in a Cairo Hospital of illness.
My g-g-grandfather Richard Dial traveled from Knox County, Ohio, to Peoria, Illinois in 1862 to enlist in the 86th Illinois Regiment.
From my family a cousin Homer K Sherbondy was 112th illinois regiment and highly respected member i think he was lieutnant/sergeant
