- Mage Knight Rebellion hit store shelves in 2000. 20 years later it still has a fan base, myself included. Join me as we unbox and review the figures found within these 20 year old booster packs. Wow, a 20 year old booster pack unboxing haul. Prepainted miniature figures and one satisfying skirmish tabletop wargame!
I can’t believe it’s been 20 years since my brother and I were buying these. I remember the Alpha boosters sometimes having 2-3 uniques in EACH BOOSTER. It was a tragedy when Topps bought them, made Mage Knight 2.0 and introduced cards to the game, and killed it by banning all previous Mage Knight sets from being played with 2.0 from what I remember. Simple greed killed a great game.

Thanks for posting this! The twenty year anniversary has me putting some energy into collecting a full set of Rebellion uniques and it's fun to see that people are still excited about MK! I think Rebellion was pretty close to a perfect set!

I remember collecting these. Spending what money I had on different packs. Even played in local tournaments. Still have my collection.
Yellow Imp WAS the cheapest unit until goblin volunteers showed up in Lancers.
the 'named' Imp was stronger than the normal ones.

i used to collect them when i was like 12, barely could play it due to my inability to speak english, was very expensive in my country years back

This was an awesome video. I played MK as a kid with my friends in that 2000-2004ish era. I never had that many pieces, but I had a tough Blade Golem from unlimited and a tough Magestone Knight that were the centerpieces of my little Atlantean Empire squad. I ended up buying a couple collections from ebay years ago just so I would have a large collection to preserve the game for myself. I recently just got the itch and bought a couple boosters, can't wait for them to arrive.
There is seriously nothing like cracking open a booster 20ish years later and letting that nostalgia hit you.
I remember playing this every weekend at my local comic book store. Eventually it turned in to everyone using Amazon Draconium in every army before 2.0 killed it. Good times.
I remember being 9-10 when the 2nd set came out(green bases), and got the regal draconian with two heads from a booster. I was stoked

All the nostalgic goodness. If you ever want to sell any packs please let me know. Just cracked 8 dungeon and 2 sinister packs. Have 3 cases of resurrection I need to open. Haha.
It was also a cool game because common and uncommons weren’t completely useless like most card games. Some * or ** figures were better value than their *** versions, and sometimes you could slip in an extra figure under the max points into your army by using a common or uncommon.
I remember me and my brother picked up the booster pack with the treeguy. (Who looked like Groot). I still have my Khamsin Fuser, Grave Robber, and Amazon Queen etc.

i'm surprised no one is making these still? is hero clix still a thing? i liked how it was much more beginner friendly than 40k and the dials on the bottom were awesome. still fun today they should do another run! crazy bones had a come back why not these.
Yep Heroclix is still pretty big from what I gather. They did a Mage Knight Resurrection set a few years back, I dont know how well it did. It had dials to use the figures with either 2.0 or Heroclix. Didn't even come with Mage Knight 2.0 rules, though. Had to download them off the site. I'm not a 2.0 fan anyway, and found the whole thing to really be just a half-hearted attempt.
I still dream of a fully supported 1.0 reboot with no Heroclix ties.

This game was fucking good
NO WAY, I played this as a kid with my friends a bunch! Was that around all this time? I still have the minis in my box, and some hero ones in other smaller box ^^.

It looks like there is dust between the feet on multiple figures. It sounds like you’ve had these for a long time but any concerns with repacks?
There are definitely always repacking concerns unfortunately. But I think any dust in this case was just deterioration crumbs from the inside of the cardboard packs.
I was out of the gaming scene when these were popular, they look really cool! Did this come about before or after heroclix?
