Storytelling generally has more impact when you write it in the "first-person point of view" like DMX on "Damien", Eminem on "Kim", Tupac on "Dear Mama" etc.
Instead of writing a story from the perspective of an "onlooker," he should have written it from the perspective of the "actual character" in the story
If he wants to master Storytelling from the "onlooker perspective," he should study songs like "Traveling Wilburys - Tweeter and the Monkey Man" and "Immortal Technique - Dance with the Devil"
He's talented but needs further refinement to become an elite storyteller
