Here, it was unintentional so very minor sympathy points to Aemond as even he knew kin slaying to be a major no-no
Right. Gross negligence at best. Dragons are not for playing. He can't use a weapon of mass destruction and claim he just wanted to scare him or wanted to inflict a precision injury like putting out an eye. Until Aegon said "no", literally no one, not Luke, not Arax, not Vhagar, not me, knew that Aemond was just messing around. Further, Aemond was giving commands in the common language, knowing Vhagar only speaks Valerian.
Aemond is entirely at fault. Had it not been for him terrorizing and chasing Luke, he would still be alive. It was solely Aemond's actions that lead to Luke's death.

The scene where she included Baela and Rhaena in her council just shows how she could make a change for women, that's where she earned Rhaenys' respect.

I'm glad they showed the bond between dragon and dragon rider during Rhaenyra's birth scene where Syrax was feeling her pain. Also love that you picked up on it. It's supposed to be scaly and deformed like Dany's baby in season one of GoT. I guess they didn't want to take it that far. Aegon wears the crown of Aegon the Conquerer but Rhaenyra gets to wear her father's crown that was passed down from the previous king that Rhanyra's firstborn is named for. The dragon in the crypt that Daemon was singing to was that king's. His name is Vermithor and he's the next oldest and biggest to Vhagar. Dragon's only recognize one rider so I think Daemon was just trying to lure him out of the cave and try to expose him to humans again since he hasn't been ridden in over 30 years.
Loved the video! Just wanted to comment that when Daemon walks into the room with the painted table to bring Rhaenyra the news about Luke he's crying, you can see how he's wipping the tears away. Apparently that was all Matt's doing because he's great like that, and it was also his idea to move Rhaenyra away from the table and closer to the fireplace.
I don't see where anyone else has said it but your incorrect... _Lucerys was the one who took Aemond's eye._ Watch that scene again. He was mad because at the wedding Lucerys 'giggled' when they put the roasted pig down in front of him. This does not JUSTIFY what Aemond did to this child, it simply is a fact.
Sooo glad u also notice how good of a mother Rhaenyra is and how her parenting & Allicents are complete opposite. I dont think I've even saw unconditional love in Allicents eyes for her kids once (Plus i notice Allicent always gave her babies to the wet nurses etc in all baby scenes and hwr kids always crying in her company, whereas in Rhaenyra's free time, we see her playing, parenting & loving her newborn & or kids every chance she gets. Helaena and Aegon always seemed scared of Allicent in ep 6 & 9, especially for Helaena, she even flinches at her mothers touch. Lucerys was my favourite Targaryen child from the beginning and he was always adorable, even after the actor changed. I hear Lucerys suffered with separation anxiety too, due too him losing family id imagine. That's why Lucerys always hold his mothers hand for comfort, like he does again this episode. I was praying somehow he'd survive and this loss made me feel even more sympathy for Queen Rhaenyra, the greens have now taken 2 kids from her, since all this stress & betrayal definitely brought on this premature labour. Rhaenyra once again showed just how much of a strong woman she truly is the episode and that she's a queen worthy of the crown. Also sweet Lucerys was actually the one who took Aemond's eye, but he was just defending himself and his big brother at the time. Aemond said it was a fair exchange for Vghar years ago, now he does this.
I saw unconditional love in allicents eyes when aegan asked if she loved him on the way too the kings coronation. Just because she has complex relationship with one of them doesn't mean she don't love them. rhaenyra might of loved her kids but she raised the bastard children to be reckless and you think she might of taught them how to fight since she knew they will be in danger eventually because there illegitimate

Im sure she loves and cares for them but not unconditionally, Allicent unfortunately saw her kids as part of her duty and only had manipulating Otto as a parent she could learn from. Rhaenyra's boys have been training and maybe they would be further along if Sir Criston had actually trained them the same as his other pupils, they'd be further ahead. Aegon cant fight much either it seems, so dont act like its just Rhaenyra's boys. Aemond is just took it upon himself, to be better in all ways than Aegon, so hes a more worthy king but hes not. Rhaenyra's boys show how level headed & respectful they are and how they make the best heirs to the throne, no contest. I doubt ur a mother so no u didn't see it at all. Being a mother myself i can confidently say Allicent and Rhaenyra's love & parenting towards their kids is like day & night.

Luke was the one that took Aemond's eye when he was about to smash Jace's head in with a rock. Can't blame Luke for doing that tbh, he was a little kid & he jumped in to save his big brother's life. And he did it before that too, to protect Jace, Baela & Rhaena despite being smaller than all of them, including Aemond.
I love how the writers rewrote that scene with Aemon and Lucery’s on dragon back so that it was the dragons that were beefing and pretty much started the war. I thought it was pretty slick of Rhaenyra to tell Luke that he has Baratheon blood through his 'grandmother Rhaenys' before he left. It's only noteworthy because although Luke does have Baratheon blood through Rhaenys, it's of course not as his grandmother through Laenor but through Rhaenyra herself as Viserys' first cousin. But yet she still used grandmother for Rhaenys, as she should.
It was. A friend pointed out to me though that it would have been slicker if Rhae had used her Baratheon heritage as the reason her kids had dark hair since it's noted as a strong (no pun intended) trait in their family. I also think the writers should have left Rhaenys' hair brown like it was in the books bc that would have taken a lot of suspicion off of the kids
First of all the audio was great and loved your reaction. I'm firmly team Black but I really appreciate that they're showing some humanity of some of the greens. War makes murderers of us all but at least there is some hesitance by Alicent (and even Aemond in that one singular moment) to resorting to murder to further their cause. Also not feeling great about the morality of Daemon after his little DV tantrum.

As a book reader, I loved the change at the end - it adds so much more nuance to Aemond (who is a very one-note, sociopathic anime villain in F&B). "A dragon is not a slave." This version of events brings the power back to the dragons, which is very fitting for the Dance. Love your commentary!
I loved the change too. It's quite hard to believe that a 17-18 yr old would be a cold blooded killer with no other impetus but a childhood accident that no one was even allowed to (publicly) tease him for. If Aemon must be the villain, let his descent make sense
@@AishaWilson Aemond is most definitely a villain. We saw that at the dinner in episode 8. Granted, Luke's death may not have been premeditated, but it was caused directly by his actions. Had he not terrorized that boy, Luke probably would have made it home. Whatever regret he may feel about Luke's death, he will probably convince himself (and maybe others) that it was Luke's fault. Aemond is a villain... and I'm here for it. Can't wait for Season 2.
Love the reaction, I've been enjoying your take on this season. I haven't read the books but I'm pretty sure Rhaenyra's look at the end there meant "Danny in GOT war crime mode activated" so yeah there's definitely going to be war cause I think this part of their history is called Dance of the Dragons. Poor Viserys tried so so hard but so badly. I'll add one more reason Alicent might be such a bad mother is because she started birthing babies at 15 so is barely older than them and had no apparent help from their father.
Good point about Alicent; I didn't mean for my comparison of the kids to be a 'blame' situation for Alicent or even Viserys; they're both human. It was just an observation on how they've turned out thus far. And of course, kids will also carve their own paths at times that are completely different to their upbringing *Theon Greyjoy coughcough*

Both the Maesters and Faith of the Seven are based in Oldtown and the Hightowers have significant pull over what is and is not allowed It’s important to note, I think, that Otto’s not even top dog, for lack of better words. That would be his older brother, Hobart, whom we’ve met a couple of times Daemon and Otto well and truly are foils in that they’re both second sons doing their damndest to prove themselves when they never had to in the first place Same dynamic with Vaemond and Aemond, too
Great review and analysis as usual. God I hate all of the Hightowers and their hypocritical judgemental bullshit. Rhaenyra is better than me because Otto would be a dead man for coming to my house with that BS offer. Daemon's inner Ike Turner made an appearance, so not surprised. Alicent's two eldest are horrible humans. A drunken rapist and a thieving sadistic bully, but yet she questions Rhaenyras character. Daemond may not have meant to kill Luke but if he had an honorable bone in his body recognizing Luke's status as a messenger allowing him to go home war may have been averted. Everything that happens from here on out is on the Greens.
In the book Aemond he kills Luke and because he wanted not to and as he is showing in the series that he is sorry, the name of Rhaenyra's baby would be a girl and her name would be visenya Rhaenyra wasn't dreaming of a dragon giving birth. Her own dragon, Syrax, was screaming in pain at her because they are so bonded. If you notice during the Battle of the Stepstones, Caraxes screams when Daemon is hit by an arrow. this shows how Rhaenyra and Daemon have a great connection with their dragons. Rhaenyra's anger burns the whole transition was so well done, her anger is completely justified compared to how they made Daenarys Daemon as crazy as it gets, he loved his brother. From the scene where he stopped Corlis talking shit about Viserys in ep 1, helping on the throne to mourning on the beach. I don't think Daemon wanted to show weakness because Rhaenyra was at her most vulnerable and it wasn't easy.. (His last wife died in childbirth, and I believe it is also said that his mother died in childbirth and the wife of Viserys died in childbirth.) So the only thing he could do was prepare for the war he knew was coming. The scene on the beach was much longer of him on the beach Matt the actor he shot a scene on the beach the daemon suffering from the death of his baby who was a girl and her name was the series visenya but HBO preferred to remove this scene the daemon he is not no saint anymore he loves his family he loves his children and really rhaenyra just unfortunately the writers prefer not to show that side of him much, i think the reason daemon didnt go to rhaenyra when she was giving birth is because he feared having to make an impossible choice. The last woman he had complications with died. He didn't want to have to make that choice for Rhaenyra. He couldn't lose her that way. When he dropped to his knees, he was relieved that she was okay and had survived. Rhaenyra didn't want help during the birth because of her mother's death. She wanted to get that baby out so she wouldn't suffer the same fate. This series/book is awesome... Matt Smith said that Daemon would give his life for Viserys and Rhaenyra. I fully believe he was heartbroken to see his brother in that condition. we books Alicent she hates Rhaenyra she was always jealous of Rhaenyra so much that I wish rhaenyra's death no and as in the series it shows that alicent is like that and because we books she does things because she because she is a bad person Let's see the losses Rhaenyra lost mother and father and daughter and son and Daemon lost father and mother in childbirth and also lost his wife who is Laena and son and now he lost brother and daughter and two other children They are suffering, but each one of their own ways, the daemon starts preparing for war because he knows Otto very well and he is afraid of losing his family One thing I say is that the two really love each other rhaenyra she can't survive without the daemon They are the best couple like it or not they are everyone's popular Daemyra forever I think the biggest reason people didn't like the scene of Daemon smothering Rhaenyra is because he's supposed to be a bad guy to the greens, but the protector of his family. Daemon isn't a saint, but he's definitely not a villain. He does a lot of bad things, but he's a gray character, and loving his family and protecting them is one of his redeeming qualities and some writers are trying to take that away from him.
I personally think Dameon is a layered in complexx character...I just think most judge him off the bat...And just demiss all his actions as calculated and bad...Instead of just seeing him through the lens of the times he lived in...Dameon is a bad guy...but hes not evil and I think he's Always wanted what was best for his entire family.. Just didn't always come at it the best way..
I think Rhaenys stayed standing and Rhaenyra allowed it and acknowledged that Rhaenys probably should have been Queen. It was out of respect for a fellow monarch or potential monarch. And Rhaenys didn’t want to swear fealty to her until she consulted Corlys.

I mostly agree but I think that Rhaenyra and Harwin weren’t that much of a factor in dividing the House into green and black factions and setting the groundwork for the conflict. The Hightowers were always going to do this, it was the plan as soon as Aegon was born. The three boys are just a convenient excuse. It would probably be a lot smarter to pick a stand-in who looked more like Laenor or even Rhaenyra herself, but even the greens are willing to accept them as trueborn as long as Rhaenyra does what they want. Borros didn’t care, he just wanted a marriage pact and was insulted that the Blacks seemed to take his support for granted.
Very true. The reality is back then folks had no idea how to figure out genetics; they just knew that bc of Sir Salty aka Criston that Rhae was willing to step outside as it were and ran with it. I also agree that Rhae was naive to think that she shouldn't have offered something to the non-pledged houses outside of threats

The throne is not Rhaenyra's. When Viserys named her heir, he broke Jaehaerys' Great Council’s clear ruling about the order succession. Even monarchies cannot exist without a basic framework of laws. Jaehaerys was a far better & popular king than Viserys. If his word means nothing, then Viserys' word means nothing either. 2ndly, Rhaenyra committed treason by all laws of Westeros by naming Jace STRONG her own heir to the Iron Throne. That's two strikes. What’s more infuriating is the only reason Viserys even became king over Rhaenys was because of the male primogeniture law of Jaehaerys. So he took advantage of that very law himself and then tried to deny it to his son Aegon. What a hypocrite.

As king, Viserys had every right to change the rules of succession. There was no law that he had to follow his DEAD grandfather's ruling, while he was king. And yes, it has been known throughout history for a sitting sovereign to name his or her successor.
@@juanitajones6900 Viserys himself said it in chapter 1x03 "Not even I am above the laws and tradition" The wishes of a King are nothing if it means breaking the law and destabilizing the Kingdom, Its an illusion to think that the King rules alone, the acceptance of the lords of the other houses is as important as that of the King because the existence and stability of the Kingdom depends on it, each one of the houses contributes something different to the kingdom and together they make things work in that society, they need each other. Jaherys made a vote, which is equivalent to Democracy and followed the laws taking into account the decision of the lords and heads of the other houses, Viserys did not, on the contrary, he made a totalitarian decision (in addition to personal because he named Rhaenyra heir Believing that this would make it up to Rhaenyra for her mother's death and for marrying her best friend, out of pleasure and not duty, even when Rhaenyra didn't even ask, she preferred that to giving her what her daughter really needed: emotional support) but that's another topic. The point is that this totalitarian decision of King Viserys to the Kingdom and began a series of conspiracies, tricks and power plays against him, all the lords waited for the death of Viserys to restore law and tradition in Westeros. That's what happens when a leader makes totalitarian decisions... the masses revolt!
I hated the way Rhaenys spat out the news one after another without considering that Rhaenyra is pregnant, she is partially to blame for her miscarriage. The scene where they put Syrax feeling the same pain and agony as Rhaenyra is just as painful as it is amazing Rhaenyra's passivity frustrates me a bit with everything that is happening to them, Daemon is upset about that, but does that justify his holding her by the neck like that? Of course not, but it wouldn't be the first time a Targaryen did something impulsive, starting with papa Viserys marrying Alicent instead of Laena. Lucerys taking out Aemond's eye, etc. Everything would have been fine between those two if Aemond hadn't used Vhagar to scare the crap out of Luc and Arrax. Arrax panicked and threw that flame right into Vhagar's face, making her go berserk on them. Both tried to control their dragons, but failed terribly. Rhaenyra's face at the end says it all: enough with trying to be peaceful, let's go to war

Right. Gross negligence at best. Dragons are not for playing. He can't use a weapon of mass destruction and claim he just wanted to scare him or wanted to inflict a precision injury like putting out an eye. Until Aegon said "no", literally no one, not Luke, not Arax, not Vhagar, not me, knew that Aemond was just messing around. Further, Aemond was giving commands in the common language, knowing Vhagar only speaks Valerian.
Aemond is entirely at fault. Had it not been for him terrorizing and chasing Luke, he would still be alive. It was solely Aemond's actions that lead to Luke's death.

I'm glad they showed the bond between dragon and dragon rider during Rhaenyra's birth scene where Syrax was feeling her pain. Also love that you picked up on it. It's supposed to be scaly and deformed like Dany's baby in season one of GoT. I guess they didn't want to take it that far. Aegon wears the crown of Aegon the Conquerer but Rhaenyra gets to wear her father's crown that was passed down from the previous king that Rhanyra's firstborn is named for. The dragon in the crypt that Daemon was singing to was that king's. His name is Vermithor and he's the next oldest and biggest to Vhagar. Dragon's only recognize one rider so I think Daemon was just trying to lure him out of the cave and try to expose him to humans again since he hasn't been ridden in over 30 years.
Loved the video! Just wanted to comment that when Daemon walks into the room with the painted table to bring Rhaenyra the news about Luke he's crying, you can see how he's wipping the tears away. Apparently that was all Matt's doing because he's great like that, and it was also his idea to move Rhaenyra away from the table and closer to the fireplace.

Sooo glad u also notice how good of a mother Rhaenyra is and how her parenting & Allicents are complete opposite. I dont think I've even saw unconditional love in Allicents eyes for her kids once (Plus i notice Allicent always gave her babies to the wet nurses etc in all baby scenes and hwr kids always crying in her company, whereas in Rhaenyra's free time, we see her playing, parenting & loving her newborn & or kids every chance she gets.
Helaena and Aegon always seemed scared of Allicent in ep 6 & 9, especially for Helaena, she even flinches at her mothers touch.
Lucerys was my favourite Targaryen child from the beginning and he was always adorable, even after the actor changed. I hear Lucerys suffered with separation anxiety too, due too him losing family id imagine. That's why Lucerys always hold his mothers hand for comfort, like he does again this episode. I was praying somehow he'd survive and this loss made me feel even more sympathy for Queen Rhaenyra, the greens have now taken 2 kids from her, since all this stress & betrayal definitely brought on this premature labour. Rhaenyra once again showed just how much of a strong woman she truly is the episode and that she's a queen worthy of the crown.
Also sweet Lucerys was actually the one who took Aemond's eye, but he was just defending himself and his big brother at the time. Aemond said it was a fair exchange for Vghar years ago, now he does this.
I saw unconditional love in allicents eyes when aegan asked if she loved him on the way too the kings coronation.
Just because she has complex relationship with one of them doesn't mean she don't love them.

Im sure she loves and cares for them but not unconditionally, Allicent unfortunately saw her kids as part of her duty and only had manipulating Otto as a parent she could learn from. Rhaenyra's boys have been training and maybe they would be further along if Sir Criston had actually trained them the same as his other pupils, they'd be further ahead. Aegon cant fight much either it seems, so dont act like its just Rhaenyra's boys. Aemond is just took it upon himself, to be better in all ways than Aegon, so hes a more worthy king but hes not. Rhaenyra's boys show how level headed & respectful they are and how they make the best heirs to the throne, no contest.

Luke was the one that took Aemond's eye when he was about to smash Jace's head in with a rock. Can't blame Luke for doing that tbh, he was a little kid & he jumped in to save his big brother's life. And he did it before that too, to protect Jace, Baela & Rhaena despite being smaller than all of them, including Aemond.
I love how the writers rewrote that scene with Aemon and Lucery’s on dragon back so that it was the dragons that were beefing and pretty much started the war. Is it me or when Rhaenyra told Otto Kingslanding will have my answer tomorrow her dragon seemed to be pissed that she didn’t get to dracary’s anybody she flew off like the hell with these

True they cut a lot of deamon redeeming scene, even the scene before he told rhaenyra about Luke’s death they cut a scene where he get the news first and doesn’t know how to tell her. Yes he wants her to be more decisive but not at the cost of her children

I thought it was pretty slick of Rhaenyra to tell Luke that he has Baratheon blood through his 'grandmother Rhaenys' before he left. It's only noteworthy because although Luke does have Baratheon blood through Rhaenys, it's of course not as his grandmother through Laenor but through Rhaenyra herself as Viserys' first cousin. But yet she still used grandmother for Rhaenys, as she should.
It was. A friend pointed out to me though that it would have been slicker if Rhae had used her Baratheon heritage as the reason her kids had dark hair since it's noted as a strong (no pun intended) trait in their family. I also think the writers should have left Rhaenys' hair brown like it was in the books bc that would have taken a lot of suspicion off of the kids

First of all the audio was great and loved your reaction. I'm firmly team Black but I really appreciate that they're showing some humanity of some of the greens. War makes murderers of us all but at least there is some hesitance by Alicent (and even Aemond in that one singular moment) to resorting to murder to further their cause. Also not feeling great about the morality of Daemon after his little DV tantrum.

As a book reader, I loved the change at the end - it adds so much more nuance to Aemond (who is a very one-note, sociopathic anime villain in F&B). "A dragon is not a slave." This version of events brings the power back to the dragons, which is very fitting for the Dance. Love your commentary!
I loved the change too. It's quite hard to believe that a 17-18 yr old would be a cold blooded killer with no other impetus but a childhood accident that no one was even allowed to (publicly) tease him for. If Aemon must be the villain, let his descent make sense
@@AishaWilson Aemond is most definitely a villain. We saw that at the dinner in episode 8. Granted, Luke's death may not have been premeditated, but it was caused directly by his actions. Had he not terrorized that boy, Luke probably would have made it home. Whatever regret he may feel about Luke's death, he will probably convince himself (and maybe others) that it was Luke's fault. Aemond is a villain... and I'm here for it. Can't wait for Season 2.
Love the reaction, I've been enjoying your take on this season. I haven't read the books but I'm pretty sure Rhaenyra's look at the end there meant "Danny in GOT war crime mode activated" so yeah there's definitely going to be war cause I think this part of their history is called Dance of the Dragons. Poor Viserys tried so so hard but so badly. I'll add one more reason Alicent might be such a bad mother is because she started birthing babies at 15 so is barely older than them and had no apparent help from their father.
Good point about Alicent; I didn't mean for my comparison of the kids to be a 'blame' situation for Alicent or even Viserys; they're both human. It was just an observation on how they've turned out thus far. And of course, kids will also carve their own paths at times that are completely different to their upbringing *Theon Greyjoy coughcough*

The pesky thing about the Hightowers is that they control the “narrative” of Westeros. Both the Maesters and Faith of the Seven are based in Oldtown and the Hightowers have significant pull over what is and is not allowed
It’s important to note, I think, that Otto’s not even top dog, for lack of better words. That would be his older brother, Hobart, whom we’ve met a couple of times
Daemon and Otto well and truly are foils in that they’re both second sons doing their damndest to prove themselves when they never had to in the first place

Great review and analysis as usual. God I hate all of the Hightowers and their hypocritical judgemental bullshit. Rhaenyra is better than me because Otto would be a dead man for coming to my house with that BS offer. Daemon's inner Ike Turner made an appearance, so not surprised. Alicent's two eldest are horrible humans. A drunken rapist and a thieving sadistic bully, but yet she questions Rhaenyras character. Daemond may not have meant to kill Luke but if he had an honorable bone in his body recognizing Luke's status as a messenger allowing him to go home war may have been averted. Everything that happens from here on out is on the Greens.

Rhaenyra wasn't dreaming of a dragon giving birth. Her own dragon, Syrax, was screaming in pain at her because they are so bonded. If you notice during the Battle of the Stepstones, Caraxes screams when Daemon is hit by an arrow. this shows how Rhaenyra and Daemon have a great connection with their dragons. Rhaenyra's anger burns the whole transition was so well done, her anger is completely justified compared to how they made Daenarys
Daemon as crazy as it gets, he loved his brother. From the scene where he stopped Corlis talking shit about Viserys in ep 1, helping on the throne to mourning on the beach. I don't think Daemon wanted to show weakness because Rhaenyra was at her most vulnerable and it wasn't easy.. (His last wife died in childbirth, and I believe it is also said that his mother died in childbirth and the wife of Viserys died in childbirth.) So the only thing he could do was prepare for the war he knew was coming. The scene on the beach was much longer of him on the beach Matt the actor he shot a scene on the beach the daemon suffering from the death of his baby who was a girl and her name was the series visenya but HBO preferred to remove this scene the daemon he is not no saint anymore he loves his family he loves his children and really rhaenyra just unfortunately the writers prefer not to show that side of him much, i think the reason daemon didnt go to rhaenyra when she was giving birth is because he feared having to make an impossible choice. The last woman he had complications with died. He didn't want to have to make that choice for Rhaenyra. He couldn't lose her that way. When he dropped to his knees, he was relieved that she was okay and had survived. Rhaenyra didn't want help during the birth because of her mother's death. She wanted to get that baby out so she wouldn't suffer the same fate. This series/book is awesome...
Matt Smith said that Daemon would give his life for Viserys and Rhaenyra. I fully believe he was heartbroken to see his brother in that condition. we books Alicent she hates Rhaenyra she was always jealous of Rhaenyra so much that I wish rhaenyra's death no and as in the series it shows that alicent is like that and because we books she does things because she because she is a bad person
Let's see the losses Rhaenyra lost mother and father and daughter and son and Daemon lost father and mother in childbirth and also lost his wife who is Laena and son and now he lost brother and daughter and two other children They are suffering, but each one of their own ways, the daemon starts preparing for war because he knows Otto very well and he is afraid of losing his family One thing I say is that the two really love each other rhaenyra she can't survive without the daemon They are the best couple like it or not they are everyone's popular Daemyra forever
I think the biggest reason people didn't like the scene of Daemon smothering Rhaenyra is because he's supposed to be a bad guy to the greens, but the protector of his family. Daemon isn't a saint, but he's definitely not a villain. He does a lot of bad things, but he's a gray character, and loving his family and protecting them is one of his redeeming qualities and some writers are trying to take that away from him.
I personally think Dameon is a layered in complexx character...I just think most judge him off the bat...And just demiss all his actions as calculated and bad...Instead of just seeing him through the lens of the times he lived in...Dameon is a bad guy...but hes not evil and I think he's Always wanted what was best for his entire family.. Just didn't always come at it the best way..

I think Rhaenys stayed standing and Rhaenyra allowed it and acknowledged that Rhaenys probably should have been Queen. It was out of respect for a fellow monarch or potential monarch. And Rhaenys didn’t want to swear fealty to her until she consulted Corlys.

Great analysis as usual. I mostly agree but I think that Rhaenyra and Harwin weren’t that much of a factor in dividing the House into green and black factions and setting the groundwork for the conflict. The Hightowers were always going to do this, it was the plan as soon as Aegon was born. The three boys are just a convenient excuse. It would probably be a lot smarter to pick a stand-in who looked more like Laenor or even Rhaenyra herself, but even the greens are willing to accept them as trueborn as long as Rhaenyra does what they want. Borros didn’t care, he just wanted a marriage pact and was insulted that the Blacks seemed to take his support for granted.
Very true. The reality is back then folks had no idea how to figure out genetics; they just knew that bc of Sir Salty aka Criston that Rhae was willing to step outside as it were and ran with it. I also agree that Rhae was naive to think that she shouldn't have offered something to the non-pledged houses outside of threats

The throne is not Rhaenyra's. When Viserys named her heir, he broke Jaehaerys' Great Council’s clear ruling about the order succession. Even monarchies cannot exist without a basic framework of laws. Jaehaerys was a far better & popular king than Viserys. If his word means nothing, then Viserys' word means nothing either. 2ndly, Rhaenyra committed treason by all laws of Westeros by naming Jace STRONG her own heir to the Iron Throne. That's two strikes. What’s more infuriating is the only reason Viserys even became king over Rhaenys was because of the male primogeniture law of Jaehaerys. So he took advantage of that very law himself and then tried to deny it to his son Aegon. What a hypocrite.

So what? Viserys was king of the Seven Kingdoms and Jaehaerys was dead. As king, Viserys had every right to change the rules of succession. There was no law that he had to follow his DEAD grandfather's ruling, while he was king. Also, Team Green committed treason by going against Viserys' wishes or will that Rhaenerys follow him on the throne. And yes, it has been known throughout history for a sitting sovereign to name his or her successor.

Jaherys made a vote, which is equivalent to Democracy and followed the laws taking into account the decision of the lords and heads of the other houses, Viserys did not, on the contrary, he made a totalitarian decision (in addition to personal because he named Rhaenyra heir Believing that this would make it up to Rhaenyra for her mother's death and for marrying her best friend, out of pleasure and not duty, even when Rhaenyra didn't even ask, she preferred that to giving her what her daughter really needed: emotional support) but that's another topic.
The point is that this totalitarian decision of King Viserys to the Kingdom and began a series of conspiracies, tricks and power plays against him, all the lords waited for the death of Viserys to restore law and tradition in Westeros. That's what happens when a leader makes totalitarian decisions... the masses revolt!
I hated the way Rhaenys spat out the news one after another without considering that Rhaenyra is pregnant, she is partially to blame for her miscarriage. The scene where they put Syrax feeling the same pain and agony as Rhaenyra is just as painful as it is amazing
Rhaenyra's passivity frustrates me a bit with everything that is happening to them, Daemon is upset about that, but does that justify his holding her by the neck like that? Of course not, but it wouldn't be the first time a Targaryen did something impulsive, starting with papa Viserys marrying Alicent instead of Laena. Lucerys taking out Aemond's eye, etc. Everything would have been fine between those two if Aemond hadn't used Vhagar to scare the crap out of Luc and Arrax. Arrax panicked and threw that flame right into Vhagar's face, making her go berserk on them. Both tried to control their dragons, but failed terribly. Rhaenyra's face at the end says it all: enough with trying to be peaceful, let's go to war

Nadie dice q daemon es perfecto todos aquí en la serie son malos la diferencia es q daemon el no ace las cosas a escondida como los demás no digo q lo q le iso a rhaenyra esta bien pero el también sufre todos hay pobre rhaenyra a caso solo ella perdió daemon tambien perdió a su hija y su hermano claro q el lo queria a su manera el solo quería q viserys lo mantuviera a su lado el le dijo en el primer capítulo nadie te protegerá como yo el le dijo q otto solo busca su propio beneficio y ahí esta viserys prefirió creerle a otto y ahí están las consecuencias otto mando alicent al cuarto de viserys y luego se caso con ella y ahora le quitaron el trono a rhaenyra todos acen cosa malas pero todos solo critican a daemon ,otto a cuantas personas no amenazó en el capitulo 1x9 y murieron 2 personas q eran leales a rhaenyra alicent se dio cuenta y no le importo igual cuando la empleada q aegon tomó ala fuerza q iso alicent ella iso callar a ala muchacha solo para q nadie se de cuenta de lo q ase aegon ,igual sabe como murió harwin y su padre pero aún así se queda callada por q prefiere tener a larys como aliado claro pero su excusa cual es por el bien del trono y para protegerse a ellos mismo y sus 2 hijos q son de lo peor rhaenyra para casarse con daemon no le importa q daemon matará a alguien inocente solo para acer pasar por muerto a leanor lo q no me gusta es q los escritores es q en la serie quieren q las mujeres sean más débiles q los hombre y en el libros no es así rhaenyra y alicent son más ambiciosas y si daemon de verdad quisiera el trono ya ubiese matado a viserys ase mucho igual a rhaenyra lo q pasa q a el le molesta q rhaenyra cometa los mismo errores q viserys es verdad a el no le importa nadie a el lo único q le importa es su familia por q sabe q otto y alicent no se quedarán quietos mientras ellos sean una amenaza para aegon y eso lo sabe otto y alicent q mientras daemon este del lado de rhaenyra a ellos eso no les conviene

Thank you! But I don't hate Aemond, I hate the actions he's choosing to take. I personally can't get behind bullying, terrorizing and nearly killing (then "accidentally") killing children. But others may feel differently.
