Ain't no wall here, but if it's the fourth one, I'm breaking it like Deadpool. Imagine, if you will, Wendy times three plus Seulgi, and "Seulgi" has, in addition to a soothing voice and dance mastery, dope-smooth rap flow, pen skill, and choreography chops rivaling IDLE's Soyeon...you would then have Mamamoo. Best vocals, hands down. RV is close second, and the gap to #3 is much wider. I'll grant RV a _slight_ edge in discography. Thankfully the groups themselves are friends and occasional collaborators, and have been since the year they debuted (2014) so us fans don't need to argue (I am both a Luvie and one of the mythical male Moomoos)
@xheralt The thing that puts Red Velvet over Mamamoo is something that cannot be trained. It's the way that all 5 girls have such inherently disparate tones that blend so incredibly well together. When the 5 of them sing, they sound like a whole choir. Especially when they harmonize, there isn't another group in Kpop who sounds better. That is something that Mamamoo never had. Saying that Hwasa and Wheein are even remotely in Wendy's league is laughably false. Discography is not a contest, either. Simply by virtue of the number of hit songs RV has had. And they haven't been known as the "B-side queens" for literally years now for no reason. You're also ignoring the fact that Red Velvet is still going strong and Mamamoo effectively disbanded in 2021.
@@riffgroove I agree, lots of people think belting = better. It sounds better to the untrained ear probably but Wendy is definitely more versatile than Solar and Wheein. The amount of different voices she puts out is unmatched. I haven’t seen any other GG singer with the range that she has. She may not be the best at a particular range (except maybe the lower register) but she’s top 3 in whatever octave she’s in.
Red Flavor was THE song of the summer in 2017, it was played so much. It's also still used a lot as bgm in variety shows/programs for summer theme, or any red or spicy flavored food. Bad Boy is arguably still their most popular song internationally, it brought a lot of new fans to red velvet/kpop. You've probably heard it around somewhere before this, even if you didn't know it was ReVel. Their rnb bsides is what made me fall in love with them, and also each members' unique vocal tone and their group harmony~ Hope you check out more red velvet, they've had an amazing 10 years!
The music is sooooo so so so so soooo good. Red Velvet's discography is what really got me deeper into kpop after having casually listened to a few songs from other groups, I fell hard - the songs are so diverse and yet their core sound of lots of great vocals and vocal layering, incredible bridges, interesting arrangements... Red Velvet never lets me down. I'm excited for you as you continue to get to know them!
You probably recognize Red flavor and bad boy because they were incredible famous back then. I knew about red velvet because of bad boy, that was the first song i listened from them and i immediately became a fan 😊
Red Flavour is like THE summer anthem of K-Pop so there are tons of groups who covered it before and also Korean variety shows love playing it so that's probably how you've heard it before 😅
Happy (almost) 10th anniversary 🩷 💛 💙 💚 💜 Left to right Wendy 💙 Feb 21 94 Main Vocal Seulgi 💛 Feb 10 94 Main Dancer Lead Vocal Irene 🩷 Mar 29 91 Main Rapper Lead Dancer Leader Yeri 💜 Mar 5 99 Rapper Vocal Maknae Joy 💚 Sep 3 96 Lead Rapper Vocal They debuted Aug 1st, 2014
yep youre right at the end for the members so left to right is- wendy, seulgi, irene, yeri, and then joy! I love this video so much because it gives a good amount of both their "Red" and "Velvet" sides, along with their Title tracks and B-sides. But there is so much that is missing from this video, like a handful of title tracks and albums that were skipped over, that i would love to watch more reactions to! Cant wait for you to get into their mvs and maybe their b-sides! The reason you may recognise Red Velvet songs is that theyre actually a top girl group in kpop for the past 10 years. They are also heavily recognized and liked by musicians and critics (like billboard named them the best kpop group alive a few years ago! they also were given a 5 star concert rating by the guardian this past year!) I think because they don't have a crazy well-known fan base who are big on streaming and voting and promoting (specifically in Korea) they seem like they're not as popular to new fans sadly. But songs like Rookie, Power Up, and specifically Red Flavor are still widely used in Korean variety shows and by idol groups shows and edits. Bad Boy and Psycho are just MAJOR hits by them. Psycho and Zimzalabim are big memes on twitter and tiktok. The Russian Roulette dance went viral a few years ago because it was being used as a tiktok dance to a different song. They are just very well known and very loved, just just sadly don't get the same intense love like other groups do (and I can say me and many others blame their company for that!) Theyre 10 years in and still going strong no matter what other non fans may think
These girls are worthy of a deep dive into bsides.
That's joy whose voice you like alot
Wendy is just so good it’s almost disrespectful
"why are they clapping? there's more, right?" my exact same reaction watching RV's killing voice the first time 😂 it's never enough with RV really
Best vocals and discography in the Kpop industry.
Argue with the wall.
PERIODT
No one even close

Vocals, harmonies, ad libs... no one does vocal arrangements like Red Velvet.
Red flavour was just very viral in 2017 😂
Welcome to Red Velvet's music, a genre of it's own, and a very broad discography. Their b-sides r also golden.
Red Flavor was THE song of the summer in 2017, it was played so much. It's also still used a lot as bgm in variety shows/programs for summer theme, or any red or spicy flavored food.
