  • Had this old video lying around for years, so I uploaded it more for reasons of history really, things change over the years.
    Starring the unhinged duo Eric and Mr Webber, we start coming by train from Grantham to Skeggy. Then we go straight to the rides at Botton Bros Pleasure Park taking the camera on board (risky then as they were quite big things). Some wandering about at the beach, some pleasure boat rowing, a cash machine of the period then eventually back on board the train taking in aspects of Boston en route back home.

    I am glad you uploaded this for historical reasons as it has given us some visual memories of how it was back in the 80,s. I was their in 1989-1991. By the way the video footage is of brilliant quality and preserved very well for its age from a home movie. Thank you.

    Oh my word. The best thing I’ve seen for years. Brought back the best memories or Skeggy. We went every year from my memory I was born 1974. Took my daughter back for the same memories she still looks back on it fondly xxx

    Fabulous video, in a decade when I used to go on holiday every year there , I was thrilled to finally see an image on the old ghost train under the pier, which many of my friends say I exaggerated that it existed , any ideas when that ride closed down?

    • @dickiea8048
      @dickiea8048 7 років тому +2

      The Starwheel was the spinning ride.
      We used to nickname it the "Blue Boots"
      The Rocket next to it was the Space Simulator.
      There was a "Disco Bounce" indoor bouncy castle next to it too that had flashing disco lights and music inside.

    If this is the Skegness Pleasure Beach in the 1980's, then this Roller Coaster must be the Zyclon before it got replaced by the Storm in 1991. Of course, things have changed again and the Rockin Roller replaced the Storm in 2006 and it's still there today.

    Who remembers the Wheel Of Death & the Fun House ? Wall of death long gone, but the fun house still stands but permanently closed. Bloody brilliant times in the 1980's. Just out of interest I think most Donut sellers are still using the same fat for today's donuts...PMSL.
