    I can imagine that a certain granddaughter is going to have lots of fun with this whistle. Good kids project.

    My granddaughter thought I should make her one. Lol, I reached up on the bookcase next to my chair and grabbed one. After handing it to her I asked "Is this quick enough?" Lol! You should have seen her face lol! Another great how-to Ken! Enjoyed, take care!

      This is the best comment on the show so far. I love how you interact with your granddaughter. Thanks for tuning in Michael and thanks for sharing the story. I love it. Tell your granddaughter that I say "hello"

    I'm going to suggest this to my daughter as a project for her cub pack. Thanks Kenny.

      That would be a great one for a cub pack. There is plenty for the young ones to learn on this one. Thanks for tuning in.

    So glad you decided to make this. And it is just in time to start making them for stocking stuffers for Christmas.

      As much as I hate to say it, you're right and Christmas is really just around the corner. Now is the time to start making stuff for that season. Thanks for tuning in to the show.

    These are fun little projects. My granddaughters and I made bandsaw/scroll saw police whistles a while back. We made four different sizes for sound difference. I realized what I'd done after they were dried (BIG MISTAKE). Kidding... but I made sure they took them home to show mom and pop!
    We'll give this one a try! Thanks Ken!

      There's a show on my channel demonstrating how to make those whistles Dennis. Smart move sending them home with the kids. LOL. Thanks for tuning in this week.

    I like the measuring device you use for locating the drill holes, but cannot find anything that looks like it. Please share.

    • @acutabove_woodworkings
      @acutabove_woodworkings  9 місяців тому +1

      That measuring device would be a T-rule by INCRA. You can find them at most woodworking suppliers or your can get them directly from INCRA. incra.com/measuring_marking-trules.html
      I hope this helps. Thanks for tuning in .

    Great video, will give it a try. Just wondering where you purchased the gauge for making the lines on the end of the whistle. It looks like a very handy tool to have. Thanks

    • @acutabove_woodworkings
      @acutabove_woodworkings  8 місяців тому

      That gauge is made by INCRA and it is called a T-rule. They are available in metric or imperial and can be purchased at most woodworking suppliers or directly from incra.com. I hope this helps. Thanks for tuning in Roger.

    I absolutely love this, never heard/seen these before ... kids must have a hoot with these ... fantastic 👍
    I suppose you could add screw driven plugs in the long holes, effectively changing their depth, meaning you could tune it to the sound you want ... but why over complicate something so simple 😀

    • @acutabove_woodworkings
      @acutabove_woodworkings  Рік тому

      The plugs would work, but like you said, why complicate things? Thanks for tuning in and for the kind words.

    9/16th..... oh handy. Still not moved to ISO standard? 🙂

    • @acutabove_woodworkings
      @acutabove_woodworkings  5 днів тому +1

      So here's the issue. You're not the only one to comment on the Imperial measurements. I grew up in an imperial measure world only to be flipped upside down when our government converted to metric. So now I had to learn the new system, and did. But although Canada was considered a metric country now, only the government seemed to realize it as the only thing metric was our temperatures, our speed and our gasoline purchases. Tools were all still sold with Imperial measurements. The trades all still ordered and installed parts using imperial measures. Everything was Imperial and is only starting to really change now. To this day, in a metric country, buying metric thread bolts is considered a custom item or a specialty item that costs a fortune. It's not that I haven't moved to the ISO (which metric is not by the way. The ISO did boost metric measure significantly but it is not considered the standard) it's that my environment and what is engrained in me is Imperial measures. My whole shop (with some items purchase as recently as a few months ago) is all imperial. There are no metric tools or equipment available to me unless I want to go with special order and a hugely increased price tag.......so yes, 9/16" is VERY handy. Thanks for tuning in. (sorry for the rant)
