@@StuartGelbord thanks Stu. Really appreciate the kind words from such a longtime fan. Richie and Mike are great too. More good nights to come this season.
@@thescarletfaithful This extends to all the time I first followed you on SB Nation's On The Banks page starting after Steve Pikiell was hired. Over there Greg isn't bad but I just feel that not all the teams outside of football and men's basketball have been covered as much as you did when you were running it. It was around this time last year I remember you made which I'm sure was a difficult decision to shut down the Scarlet Faithful website and I just feel Rutgers fans following everything athletics would've been spoiled right there. I do somewhat miss Dave White when he was on OTB even though it was nice to follow the number of times you spoke with him especially when you still had your website. Regarding all this, keep up the great work! Personal issues kept me from even listening to this game on my phone last night even though it really does need to be a point made that we just beat a very good team in Penn State and are still undefeated at home this season. Their one loss was against Clemson who is currently the #16 team in both the AP and Coaches Polls. Clemson handed then #4 Kentucky their first loss of the season, and all three aforementioned teams only have just one loss taking away of course what we did against Penn State last night and I thought we were in trouble before this game! I won't make the mistake like with this football season after UCLA loss and that being better than we thought by even thinking about giving up on the season even if in that case I've resumed watching the games. Kennesaw State if considered bad loss is after all better than we thought since Aaron you stressed this is only Q2. I would still pay some attention to what they do the rest of the year but even though the 3-game losing streak made me doubtful, we very much still can be an NCAA Tournament team this year after taking down Penn State for first Big Ten win of the season. I'll still be here for the grind, and once again Aaron, I'm just happy that in these past couple years you have been an important part of it for Rutgers fans.
Good win tonight thought the toughness and physicality was there for most of the game. Needed the win and got it. Do it again on Saturday to really get going. Go RU!
Best 1st half of basketball that I have seen RU play in a while. But this was not "a complete game" as you said. Too many turnovers and awful foul shooting. Many good aspects, such as Ace grabbing rebounds and going to the offensive glass! Dylan played outstanding, just needs to get stronger at end of every game because the ball will be in his hands, and he needs to get to the hole or the foul line in the last 2 minutes of every game.
@@tomm4733 I point out the turnovers and missed free throws as well in the pod. There is a difference between a complete game and a perfect game. You are referencing the latter. A complete game is playing hard and smart on both ends which they did. Part of why they struggled from the line in the second half was short rest and playing so hard. The four guys you want at the line were the ones who went there. They’re shooting 74% as a team for the season.
@@thescarletfaithful No, I was referencing a complete game. Every coach will tell you that turnovers are a paramount topic when talking about a complete game. A perfect game has never been played. LOL Keep up the great work Aaron.
@@marcgreenberg1329 Of course we're winning those. We're not even going back on the road for those games. Knowing your past comments on here though you'll never be satisfied, but didn't you just fail to mention we've only won once in non-con play on the road since 2018 knowing such Big Ten games won't be any easier for us???
A mid range is not a bad shot, especially if you’re not a 35% plus shooting team from 3. Of course they half to make them , but if that’s what the defense gives you take it.
6 of 15 Free throws in the 2nd half, ouch Nice to see Ace collecting rebounds. Hopefully that continues onward. Turnovers in crucial possessions still rampant. Derkack having 3 TOs at the worst times along with 4 fouls given keeps me from being happy when he checks in. Funny if you read the StarLedger grades for the players in this game. Everyone was B or higher. If RU lost, that would have turned into D or worse. Ultimately, poor free throws was the biggest issue. I personally have a BA from Rutgers in Psychology. Here is my suggestion to Coach Pikiell. Stop the practice at any point. Bring a player of your choice to the free throw line. Give them one shot. Repeat this drill often per practice.
@@williamtilden8211 Pikiell does that and has done that forever. It probably happens 8-10 times a practice. I’ve seen it. Also they were shooting 76% from the line for the season before the game. Your four best FT shooters took all the attempts. I think short rest and playing so hard defensively cost them their legs. Not an excuse they have to get better there but I expect they will if they can play that hard on a consistent basis. Good point on the player grades. Those are tough to do though.

Had to have it. No excuses on Saturday.
Congrats RU lot of execution to work on, but tough, gutty win!

This team will show me something when they win on the road in the Big Ten. Have to win the next three cupcake games!
