Glad to see that there are people out there belonging to my same generation who acknowledge the failure of the contemporary school system - we can't cook, clean, spell words properly or write a basic essay, but hey, we have got multiculturalism, tolerance and post-colonial studies!

My sweet and VERY clean mother passed away in 1991. I was trying to remember how she used to hand wash her delicate clothes, but it was so long ago, and I was so young. I ran into your video while doing a UA-cam video, and I think it's exactly what my mom used to do! I love your beautiful accent as well! Thank you very much, from Southern California! :)
Thank you, gentlemens clothes don't usually need hand washing, but us guys do have hand wash fabrics as well. It's nice to see a general instructional video on this topic. Thanks from the US :-)
Even though I'm a kid this video was amazing as I had a school blazer to wash which had badges that might have got ruined in the wash . Luckily I used your method and my blazer didn't shrink and it was smelling nice and fresh ready for school . Thank you so much !😀👍🏻
i recently have been very into historical fashion, and a lot of clothes i buy (and some handmake myself) say to handwash 😭😭, i don't really do the laundry in my household, let alone my handwash them, so this really came in handy!! great explanation, straight to the point, and easy to follow!! I'll be putting this to use from now on lol, thank u sm
Thank you so much! I had a brand new hoodie with a type of cloth that I NEVER felt before! I was worried because the cloth looked and felt so fragile! I'm only 16 and didn't know too much about this before you told me how. My hoodie is drying now but it already feels and looks A LOT better! The water was so dirty and that gave me relief knowing that it's working. I rinsed and rinsed until the water stayed clear! Thank you so so much!
Thanks for this, it's quite the lifesaver! I bought this rather delicate dress with sequins on it and I don't want to risk ruining it in the washing machine.
Excellent video!! :) Thank you so so much for the time and effort you put into it by even showing us all the best ways to dry the garment! I am definitely getting use out of this!
Thank you. I've got about 6 items of clothing that have been in the top of my closet, waiting to be hand washed. On one hand, it seems self evident, but these are nice pieces, and I want them to stay nice. That dumb-butt guy who complained about your accent shames the general US population. Beautiful, helpful, clear video (and audio), thank you.
Thank you! I recently got nice clothes for dance and I've never had clothes like this where I'm worried about washing them properly. I appreciate the tips throughout, most other videos don't mention those extra details that are nice to know
I find after getting most of the water out, gently roll it in a white towel. This absorbs lots of excess water. I also have a mesh sweater dryer which provides the perfect aerated and flat surface on which to to dry delicates and helps them keep their shape!
Thank you so much for this. A few years back our grid crashed and I worry that most people won’t be self sufficient if the grid REALLY crashes so I’m trying to relearn these things :)you can roll it in a towel if you don’t have electric for some reason
i love older people, thank you, i have a cotton hoodie id like to handwash so it stays comfortable and bright in its bright colors and dark in its darker colors.
I'm a man and know nothing about this sort of stuff. So glad women like you make these sort of videos. I have a £500 Philip Plein Jacket made out of polyester and nylon which the care label says hand wash. I'm going to hand wash it in my bath, will an inch of water be ok and how much washing powder shall I use? The reason I'm washing in the bath is so that i don't have to crunch the jacket up and can just roll it over in the water. The coat isn't dirty just had a slight bad odour under the armpits. Any advice you can give would be much appreciated. Thanks, Tim BTW - I do have a good modern Samsung washing machine with a Hand Wash setting (29 min wash, 30 degree, 2 spins @ 400rpm) but given the price of the Jacket I can't afford to ruin it. Do you recommend hand washing it as opposed to using the washing machine.
Hand washing is always best with a jacket of this value, especially if the label says to handwash! Although if it is made out of polyester and nylon is should be alright in the machine as you have the correct hand washing setting. However I know I would wash it by hand. Use the bath, just make sure the soap powder has dissolved in the hand hot water otherwise it might stick to the jacket in lumps. I would use enough water to cover jacket and allow movement as you wash/roll it; keep gently squeezing the soapy water through it and concentrate on the dirty/soiled areas with gentle rubbing,. Do not be aggressive or over rub! It's hard to say how much soap powder I would use, enough to make the water soft, so maybe about half a cup should do it. Make sure you rinse it thoroughly. You may not want to use a fabric softener as the jacket might become too soft afterwards and not hold it's shape, however if you find it feels very stiff you could always add a small amount. Do not use fabric conditioner on it if it's waterproof.
Thank you am going to wash my 2 wool cotton jumpers now black ones but i wont risk spining in the machine just incase them spoil I will dry flat on my ironing board . Good video
Thank you for the video. I’ve built up a collection of very nice boxer shorts, and with a single day wear and then into the washing machine, I can already see them beginning to wear. I shall try this method next time. Thanks again :)
I've got a petticoat from the Edwardian (it's an antique) that needs washing and I wasn't quite sure how to do it. So, thank you this was a handy video (pardon the pun). :D
I love how clean you are, I mean, I have seen videos hand washing directly in the sink, which cannot be sanitary. All the love all the way from Dubai OXOX.
I have to wash my daughters Halloween costume. It’s a cheerleader costume with lots of white- she wrote it for the first time for her Halloween party at school and it’s sooo dirty from candy 😭 I have to hand wash it so thank you!!
I am a man and don't have a woman to do my laundry but I usually use a power drill and a dry wall mixer because power drills are relaxing noise and I only use 15 celsius water because my clothes get very dirty and hot water is just going to make it worse or so I been told.
It’s not how you wash it. It’s how you dry it. The basic thing is no heat and don’t stretch. The bloke in the shop once told me if your paying big bucks for clothes you shouldn’t be wearing them all the time so they shouldn’t need washing all the time anyway
LOL. In the beginning of this, I thought, "why didn't she put her orange juice container away before recording this?", cut to her grabbing the OJ bottle later, which actually was fabric softener.
Thank you for this video. It is a lifesaver I come from the generation that weren't taught how to do basic things at school like cooking and cleaning

The water is so satisfyingly dirty. That's good because that means it's no longer on the sweater!!! Awesome!!!!
i actually think it was the dye from the black buttons, you can see in the last rinse it was still murky. . it's the dye coming off.
This is what UA-cam should be used for! What’s a lovely person you are! I’ll certainly be following this. Thanks and grateful for your time :)
