    Hi. This is definitely in my Top 10 list of MOST AMAZING things I've seen in craft videos!! Those big envelopes are stunning and I immediately thought that I have to find out how you made them so I could make my own. I am planning to make a JJ as a gift to an old friend and even though I have hardly started and have only 5 weeks to complete it, I am putting everything on hold until I've made some of these papers to use in her journal. I don't use any scrapbooking paper and very few digital designs in my journals. I make all the covers, ephemera, pockets, envelopes... everything possible, from paper I've hand made, painted, stained, dyed, collaged, block printed, sewn etc. I like my journals to portray every bit of my own creativity and not just be an assembly of other people's talents. Obviously I do use copier paper, cardstock, fabric etc, but never in its original state. You have greatly inspired me with all your fresh ideas and I am truly grateful. TFS ❤❤

      Thank you so much for your kind comment and for sharing your jj journey with me. We have very similar mindset when it comes to what we put inside our jj. I sometimes feel the need to alter my own digitals because the paper they are printed on seems so new and uninteresting. The journal you’re making for your friend is going to be truly one of kind. 😊❤️

      I bet your JJ’s are beautiful! I too am not a big fan of using anything I haven’t made myself or altered in some way. And I have to say, that really wasn’t by choice in the beginning for me. It was out of necessity as getting started in JJ was rather expensive for me being on a fixed income. But now that I make all the fixin’s and such, (so to speak), I find I like it better or as much as already made items. Enjoyed your comment. Happy crafting friend!
      ❤️💜💚

      I am quite the opposite I suppose bc I think that other peoples talents are unique and different than what I could have ever made. I love digitals & I also love creators that put their ideas and creations online with a tutorial just like this lovely artist has done. Would you not consider using this idea as another’s talent?

Natasha and I share similar backgrounds, like place of birth, language, culture, and we both moved to Australia in similar circumstances. We are friends. Since I moved back to Sarajevo 13 years ago we haven’t seen each other in person, but we stay in touch. What is starch? Where do you get it?

    • @Saacibo
      @Saacibo  9 місяців тому +4

      @@lindatabor4841 I buy starch from the supermarket, can be corn, wheat, potato or rice. It’s used to thicken the sauces. There’s also laundry starch used for ironing. You can use any of those. Ironing starch is already premade so no cooking is required. If you like to change its color, just add some ink. It’s usually just white or clear.

    I love your channel, it was already perfect but you keep surprising with even better and better content -- unique, clever, useful, enjoyable. This is just amazing - truly accessible to all and no waste process. Cannot wait to see what else you are doing with the napkins and what can be done with these no-glue-napkin-papers. 5:30 About baking paper. Another name for it is parchment paper (brown - unbleached and white - bleached). The freezer and wax papers cannot be called baking paper because those are for lining for freezing (and other creative applications of course). Their shiny side melts with hit so absolutely not suitable for baking. Thanks for the tip to iron the paper from both sides of the ‘sandwich’ and to keep stained baking papers for crafts as well.

    Oh my, they turned out great!! 💜💜💜
    I pulled everything out but was rethinking how to do it, without the Sizzix, as I wanted larger papers. Was planning to put my napkins between 2 pieces of heavy plastic and use a heavy rolling pin over it to get some of the liquid out.
    I was ready to go, but with this virus that I was lucky enough to catch 2 months ago, I have spurts of energy and then spurts of napping, lol. Was busy today getting some running done, so maybe tomorrow I can give it a try.

    They are beautiful. So many possibilities are running thru my head. I am thinking about making up a bunch of these papers. Some with patterns and some plain. I want to try using rust water on the papers along with some of the techniques/ideas you showed in your 3 part series about rust water. I think combining these homemade napkin papers with the rust water and techniques from those videos the papers will turn out amazing. Thanks for sharing your creative spirit with us. Oh, this thing that is making us unwell, I am beginning to think it’s some sort of planetary alignment that affects creatives 😆. We are all so far apart and yet we have the same symptoms. It global!

      @@Saacibo Appreciate the clarification about the starch, very helpful. I have a post viral inflammatory condition, and whenever it flares up, I lose my creative mojo for a while. Have noticed lately that engaging my creativity (even organizing my supplies or watching a video like this one will kickstart my flow, and I too often have an abundance of new ideas. I do think it's part of a planetary realignment, perhaps a response to some of the powerful energies our planet is being bathed in right now. Engaging my creative flow definitely lifts me out of my post-viral lethargy better than anything else I've tried. Really enjoyed this new idea, I always enjoy finding ways to make leftover papers more interesting and useful. Having more time than money at hand, this process is especially welcome.

    Good point about using the baking sheet to keep the starch off the iron! I was thinking about doing this on my stove because I didn't want the smaller pages I would get using my Big Shot and my thought was to use muslin - which you rightly pointed out would just soak through and goo up my iron plate. I know I can just iron over a damp rag and salt to clean it up, but you saved me from that. :D (ETA: I have a ceramic-top stove. Nice flat surface to work on and easy clean-up!)
