If you believe and repent of your sins and put your faith and trust in Him as you would a parachute jumping off a plane at 25000 feet up in the air, He will give you eternal life in heaven as a free gift and I promise you, He will change your life forever as He did mine. If anyone tells you that Jesus isn’t the only way, they are lying to you and they don’t care about your future.
Be careful with transferring in too many credits. If you do more than 75% of the WGU program, they cant enroll you into that program. You NEED to do at least 25% of the total credits of the program at WGU
I’ve been really struggling with this and having your breakdowns have encouraged me to go for my degree. I’ve been working in a service desk role for a few years and got stuck in a rut. Thank you for taking the time to put this information out there and even going as far as providing links to your spreadsheets. You are bettering lives one video at a time!
Hey, thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment this, I really appreciate it. I'm glad the videos/breakdowns have been helping :). Best of luck with whatever program you choose! Good news is, you already got the hard part of getting a job out of the way. All you gotta do is build on that now. GL and have fun with your school :)
Thanks, @JoshMadakor. I just picked up the BSCS degree in about 60 days (I took it as a personal challenge when you mentioned 2 months). Your breakdown of WGU was motivational and helped guide me through the classes.
Awesome information presented, selling me on finally getting my BS in Computer Science! Thanks Josh, for all of your hard work and presenting this information!!
Hey Josh, I'm just now discovering your content and I'm excited to learn as much as possible from your suggestions. I'm currenly a Sr. Cyber Engineer with an Associates in Science and I'm beginning my BS in CS this month with WGU (I'm unsure how I achieved such an amazing role without a ridiculous amount of experience... lucky me?). I will keep you updated on my progress in your other videos and suggest you for others in my field pursuing their BS degree. Thanks for the clear and concise recommendations keep up the great content!
Hey Neil 👋 Can you keep me updated on here please. I'd like to follow the roadmap also once I can carve out the time and resources. Thanks in advance 👍🏼
How has WGU been treating you and is it respected? Also can you give some insight on what you do in your day for your job I am wanting to go to WGU for my BS in cybersecurity
I am very glad I found this channel. I just want to get through my computer science degree as fast as possible. I finished my freshman year of computer science at my in-person university, but it's way less efficient than WGU and I hate waking up at like 7am and wasting time traveling between classes and my dorm. I've also been working in web development part-time for a while because I like money. Now I'm about to speedrun this degree.
Did you begin WGU in your sophomore year then? How many credits were you able to transfer from your first year university to WGU? I am looking into doing the same thing, would like to hear how it has been going for you so far!
@@xavierxavier3610 thats great. Im a Junior at Portland State and the classes are alright but since covid, I wasted 2 years and could have gotten my degree by now. I might switch to WGU and speedrun it as well. Also commuting to psu takes 1 hr and the campus can suck sometimes, especially with homeless people around
WOW THIS IS FANTASTIC!!!!! THANK YOU! I was about to spend $5k a semester @ community college for 12 Credits... I am amazed that there are other options available!
As soon as I found out about this school, this was exactly what I was intending to do. This video is exactly what I was looking for! So helpful! Thanks so much for sharing the info! I'm so excited!
I have my education benefits from the military. I want to use them to get a good paying job, but I've been programming since I was 11, started C++ when I was 14 and have done small projects myself for years. Mainly video game mods via DLL injectors. I think my experience would help me blast through a lot of the main course material. It is a very real prospect that I could have a bachelors in CS done in a year or so. Hmm... You've given me a lot to think about. Thanks!
Sounds like you have a great background and I think you could go through it pretty fast! It does have a decent amount of math though, so there's that. But if you want to avoid the math, then you could go with the Software Dev course as well. Either one is gonna be great. I def don't regret getting my CS degree from WGU as it was quick (but kind of painful, haha)
I think it's important to note that when you are transferring in credits for an IT-related course the degree/courses need to be within 5 years of the transcript evaluation. I tried transferring a Computer Networking degree I got 6 years ago and they didn't accept any of the IT-related courses in my program.
Thanks for bringing this up! For some reason they accepted my Project+ which is like 10 years old, but they didn't accept any of my java courses which were about the same age (like you've pointed out). I've had to redo java twice at WGU because of this. Once for my BSIT and again for my BSCS. Really rustled my jimmies
I'm glad I stumbled on this. I already have a degree with a minor in CS, but I've been having a tough time getting a job because I never took algorithms or discrete math in college. I feel like I'm getting passed over just because I don't have a CS degree specifically. That, and my technical interview skills are in the gutter. I already applied for the BS CS program, eagerly waiting to see what classes I have left to take and will knock out some of them via the methods you mentioned before hand. I feel like not having a CS degree is gate keeping me right now.
WGU has updated their computer science courses in October 2024. Do you think you'll update your spreadsheets to reflect these changes? Your spreadsheets and videos overall are incredibly helpful! Thanks, Josh!
Wow Josh, this is the best thing I've run across in years. I thought it was going to be clickbait and a scam not gonna lie. Im close to graduation in Mechanical Engineering at a local state university, but my internships and campus projects have shown me that I have a big interest in computer science. Its not the money that motivates me, but I do see that I can justify paying to pursue further education and opportunities in it because I see software developers getting paid double what I'd get paid at the companies I've interned at (mainly medical devices and consumer electronics). I was genuinely considering staying at my university for another 3 years, but this way saves me time and ~$25k out of pocket, even accounting for the certificates and pre game studying subscriptions. Thank you for putting this together
Heavily thinking of joining WGU for the Cloud Computing B.S. I already have an A.A.S in something unrelated. No formal IT experience but have been studying for A+ for a few months.
Sounds good! Definitely won't hurt and will give you exposure to new stuff at the very least. Best of luck either way! I'm not sure if you saw it, but I did a video on the Cloud Computing Degree: ua-cam.com/video/LwynFf46TiQ/v-deo.html
Hey Josh just a heads up, WGU just updated their classes for the CS degree. Whenever possible, could you make an updated video to address the class requirements/transfer units? Thanks!
@@hamzamohamed6748 seems so, before you could take 27ish classes outside of wgu and only do 7ish classes in wgu. Now it’s like only 22 classes outside of wgu, and 12 classes in wgu. Around there
I’ve applied back in 2023 but never moved forward with my decision until now (Oct 16, 2024). I have Sophia credits I will use. There are some other courses through Sophia I’ll knock out. Oh and my program at WGU will be Computer Science
My community college recently announced a partnership with WGU, so I feel pretty strongly that it's the school I'm gonna transfer to. Fortunately, I'm also gonna be taking Calculus I & II as part of my associate degree😁
Hey Blackswan, that's super lucky, and it's going to be really nice to get Calculus out of the way. Probably the biggest pain int he ass in this whole degree. Discrete Math II is a pain as well, but not not in the way that calc is, lol
Josh, this is amazing content, thank you!! I am currently working a full time job but looking for a career change. WGU comes across as the most efficient option to reroute my career path. What are your thoughts on leaving my current job early and working in the IT field while enrolled in the program? Assuming the program will take anywhere from 9-18 months. I appreciate you and the content you put out, it is very valuable.
Hey! Thanks, and thanks for watching! If you can get a job in IT that allows you enough time and energy to study, that is definitely the most ideal situation. I've taken advantage of jobs like that quite a bit in order to get a lot of studying done. Super good use of your time lol, (getting paid to study).
Love your videos. Do you think it is better to get BS in Computer Science or BS in Cloud Computing. Seems that BS in Computer Science has more broad appeal and most employers want that. However, it seems that the certs you get in the specialize training with WGU cloud computing may help more. Thoughts?
Hi josh, is there any particular reason you used straighterline instead of Sophia for the courses? I was hoping to use Sophia since they’re a flat rate per month but don’t want to pay if I can’t transfer in any Sophia courses before beginning at WGU. Enrolling soon and appreciate all the help!
Hey Josh, appreciate you and all your videos. I'm a veteran considering going to WGU and using my va bennefits. I was always awful in school and appling myself and went the GED route and have no highschool math experience. I feel the Computer Science Degree is better to get overall, but i'm scared about the math portion. Should i just go cloud or cybersecurity instead? thanks for any tips or thoughts. safe journeys
Hey Wayne, I recognize you, we chatted on instagram haha. I'll paste my reply here in case it's useful for someone else who comes across this: Hey Wayne! Swe/dev probably has more remote but most of tech can be done remote so you can pretty much go with whatever path you want. I’d definitely pick the path based on your interests (which might develop/change along the way). CS math is a pain in the ass, but just because you’re 6th grade math now doesn’t mean you have to be 6th grade math forever! Shoot, we didn’t even know how to count at one point and look at us now. It will just take you a few months on khan academy to catch up. But going cyber is fine too. I personally like CS better than IT, and IT better than cyber, but that’s just me, haha Cloud would be a solid choice if you want to get a high paying job kinda fast (lookup Cloud support engineer on indeed) From there, you can easily pivot to wherever you want. (Coding, cyber, etc.)
I failed Algebra in high school. Granted I was also a horrible student but because of that, I don’t think I’m capable of doing CS. If you disagree by all means help me out. But I’m leaning towards their software engineering degree because it’s only got one math class. I have a coding background already as I’ve gone through a full stack bootcamp and interned as a Rails software engineer. So that may be more in line with what I wanna do anyway.
I see you talked about pre-gaming the courses. I applied at WGU and before I am allowed to see any of the classes they have to accept me as a student. since I haven't been accepted yet (needing the precalc that I don't have) they will not allow me to see the classes in the compsci program at WGU. They may have picked up on people doing this and closed off the class details until you are enrolled. Im doing the precalc elsewhere right now but I thought this was interesting that they hide the class schedule until they accept you as a student. Also important to note.. They do not have open enrollment at WGU. You can only start your classes in Sept of each year. So if you see this in Jan and want to get started right away you won't be able to. You will have to wait until Sept. I started looking in July so Sept isnt that far off so Im doing the precalc between now and then. Good times! :)
That's incredibly strange that they don't have open enrollment anymore... They should be able to evaluate your transcript for you and show the list of classes that you still need to complete. I don't know why WGU is so freakin annoying sometimes... :\
@@JoshMadakor I called the school of IT directly and they informed me they still do the 1st of every month. Apparently the enrollment guy I spoke with was wrong. They said if he insists that I can change councilors. Great videos. they are evaluating my info and Im smashing thru this calc.
Josh, when you say “the course took me a week or less”, how many hours would you study per day (weekdays and weekends)? What would you say was your average amount of study hours per week?
Currently I work as a self taught software developer who dropped out of college. I want to do this but getting through the gen eds sounds like a big pain. Doing the CS and math sounds interesting though...
Dang that sucks. If you still wanna go for it, I might consider using study.com, Sophia, and straighterline (for calculus) to knock out as many credits as you can. In the description, I think I have a link for all of the transferable courses from sdc, you just have to select your degree on the spreadsheet!
I have some questions for you, Josh! First, are you sure your new credit transfer spreadsheet is 100% successfully accepted to transfer? Second, How long totally does it take when making a pregame transfer spreadsheet until having finished the program? Third, Could you do the same with Purdue Univesity Global, Northeastern University, Univesity of Maryland Global, and the University of Massachusetts Global? Because they are higher academics and much more renowned to apply for graduate schools like Harvard or MIT,...!
I just graduated last year in a BS Mathematics. With a focus on applied math (optimization/stats). All my coding knowledge is in MATLAB. Do you think it’s worth it to get another BS in CS from WGU? I want to become a web developer and eventually get into SWE. My background is all math. So I don’t know much about data structures and algorithms. As of now I’m self teaching myself to code. Should I go back and get a BS in CS? Or keep doing the self teach route?
I think getting BS in CS is worth it. I'm guessing you already took the generic and Math classes, itll be super easy for you. You prob will graduate less than 6 months so why not get that BS?
Since you have a BS in math already, take the OMSCS program from georgia tech. It's only $6500 and it's an online masters degree from a top tech school.
Hello! ive been binging your videos the past few days. I am about to graduate in may 2022 from a brick a college with my Associates of Science. I'd love some advice and your thoughts on a Computer Science Degree vs a Cybersecurity degree from WGU . I know Cyber has more certs involved, but the cost between WGU and my current college are within 1000$ per semester. I got my Network + and Security + (both expired now) , back in Highschool in 2016. I feel like I'd like Cybersecurity more, plus having a mentor to help guide you through the courses would be better. I know you started in Cybersecurity, but do you think it's better to start with CS first? I've also worked in helpdesk positions on and off since high school. I hope to hear back thanks!
Hey Gabe, thanks for watching my videos!! I think I saw you in my junk stream today right? Lol, thanks for showing up. A CS degree isn't necessary to work in Cyber, but it is _really_ nice to have--it also takes the most time and energy to get as well, so there's that. The CS degree will come in handy if you are trying to get into reverse engineering, malware analysis, and application security. If you have no interest in those, you might be better off getting the normal Cyber degree if you want to save some time/energy. It's really just up to you though! The CS degree is great, but hard.
Hi Josh, thank you very much, your videos are very helpful. There are several courses like Calculus that are available on both study and straighterline platforms. What was your criteria for choosing one over the other?
Quick question! When you say that a class might take a week depending on what it is, how many hours are you putting towards that class each day? e.g. it’ll take a week because you’re putting in 3/4 hours, or it takes a week and you’re putting in 7/8 hours a day? I know this will obviously vary, but I figured I would ask. Thank you for any input, and we appreciate your videos!
Maybe if I were put on the spot I'd say something like 4-5 hours a day per class. The way I study for WGU requires some explaining. Because I know the Objective Assessments are multiple choice, I don't study all the material into the ground 100%, but I do study it decently enough to be able to discern the wrong answers on the multiple choice tests. I go into the test know that I don't know everything, and I just do my best to pass. Some of the classes were SUPER hard and took way more than a week, like DS/Algos 2, DM2, Calculus, and Software 2, but for the rest (OA)s, must of them took about a week or less.
@@JoshMadakor Thanks, man. I've been putting in a lot of hours just to complete as much classes as I can before the deadline. Your videos keep me motivated! I won't have to worry about those hard classes maybe until I go for another degree, but I'll be sure to keep that in mind. If it's super hard for you and your skills, I know for me, it will be even worse lol.
For someone who doesn’t have any real IT experience, would you recommend something like scripting and programming at straighter line to get an idea on whether a career in IT might be a good fit? What are your thoughts
Not really scripting and programming is exactly that, programming/software engineering. It can be used in the IT side but usually won't be needed for early stuff. You need to gain a understanding of the basics first. The A+ coursework would cover that and Net+ or CCNA. Look up professor Messer and watch his A+ videos. IT is more troubleshooting end user issues, network issues, or hardware and some software issues. Scripting won't really be needed until you're doing Admin stuff or if you want to automate installs or simple stuff you do but at entry level the company would not ask you to do that.
I want to get this degree once I break Into the industry as a cybersecurity analyst Just to say I have a degree plus I feel it will look good on resumes.
Please I need your help. I really do not need much Certifications and am confused between BS Data Management / Data Analyst and BS Cybersecurity and Information Assurance. Which of these doesn’t have much Certs???
The Data Management degree has less certs and is probably the 2nd or 3rd easiest degree. Definitely second if you don't count the IT management degree :)
Would you recommend getting a Bachelors in CS even though I’m a current college student who is pursuing a Mechanical engineering degree? I intent to go to law school to go into pattent law after college, and CS is much more preferred for Patent law. I didn’t want my studies at my 4 year university to be in CS as I did not know my level of intrest or skill, however I think it will give me a bit of an edge to have a CS degree.
Hey Doc! yeah you can actually. I believe if you have at least 3 months left in your term, you can use those to start a new degree. I think I still have time left too LOL. But I'm good, I'm so tired lol
Josh what degree from WGU is the best one to pursue a career in software engineer. Also what languages / topics should I focus on outside of the degree? I live in Seattle area, know nothing about code really, currently a network engineer for Verizon. I’m at the top of my pay scale and basically want more…. Thanks a million
_>Josh what degree from WGU is the best one to pursue a career in software engineer?_ Computer Science first, then Software Development second! (in my opinion) _>Also what languages / topics should I focus on outside of the degree?_ I kind of recommend using python to grind data structures and algorithms. I really break down how to do that in this video: ua-cam.com/video/wVOU-oLOGuk/v-deo.html Best of luck! Very cool career you've got so far :)
Do you know if this works with NAU as well? They have a similar program and I’ve been thinking of getting my CS degree there. I’d love to get some of this stuff out the way from other sources before paying the tuition
I enrolled in the BS in Software Development, do you have any tips? I'm going to go through all of your content this is really intriguing thank you for giving back like this man, it really means a lot to me and people like me!
@@ronaldoangel1544 I thought that too. The difference is that thr CS degree is for people who want to know how computers work and how machine learning, and hardware coding works. Software engineering is everything regarding just that... Software programming. Looks like both allow ypu to make good money but Software engineering seems to be more sought after
But if you don’t have the money to pay for the transferable courses, then you could count on being a wgu student to get their financial aid or scholarships right? That'd takr longer, but then at least you'll have the means go pay for the classes, potentially (being that you can't transfer courses after you begin studying at wgu, according to them).
Hi Josh, I was told by an admission counselor that I can not get an evaluation of my transcript unless I enroll first. In this case, how would I know which classes I have satisfied? I spent one year in college and have some AP credit from high school.
For the 'theory' of the capstone, does the solution you provide for a given business problem have to 'work' or is theoretical and how to 'go' about it?
Great question! Mine was theoretical but I had a functional MVP. Basically, I think the solution you make can be theoretical, but you do need to make some kind of working ML component where the data can be observed and stuff
Watching to the end of this video I see you say you started in June or July at WGU? I talked to the enrollment counselor today and he said they do not have open enrollment and that I have to wait until Sept. Did they change that? Seems weird.
I'm pretty certain they start at the 1st of every month unless they changed it recently, which would be really strange. But thanks for watching to the end. :P
If you have completed one program with WGU and want to do a second program, will they accept new transfer courses? I know that with the first ojne, there is a point where its agreed that all courses submitted are final and no new courses are to be transferred in. I'm thinking the answer is "yes" more courses can be transferred for the second program, but I'd like to ask
_>If you have completed one program with WGU and want to do a second program, will they accept new transfer courses?_ Yep, they can def be transferred, but each program has a max around 75% or so. It's very good and probably why I only had 11 classes to complete the CS degree, lol
Hey I’m sorry to bug I was wondering I have my grants paying for pretty much everything which I’m so thankful for but I’m wondering if you would suggest that I still outsource some of these courses even though I can get my next couple semesters paid by my grants and cover those courses that you outsourced? Would you still suggest I take them outside of Wgu?
I highly recommend taking at least Calculus at Straighterline. If you can, take Computer Architecture and OS for Programmers outside too since those are pretty hard (large breadth) when taken inside WGU. If not those, at least Calculus :P
There is this spreadsheet that we made recently that maps ALL programs to study.com, this is the tab for Computer Science: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1SHtCCKJafxrTJiB-59s8GOAn2J4b1dqCDjm-iurA9oU/edit#gid=638724391 Also, if you go here, on the bottom right, you can see mappings for sophia, saylor, Study dot com, and others: partners.wgu.edu/Pages/Partners.aspx If you use study dot com, there is a discount code: joshmadakor Hope this helps!
Hi Josh, I'm interested in the cyber security degree. I've worked in a help desk role for about 10 years and have a general understanding of IT. Would you recommend picking up any of the security certifications? I know you do a lot of videos on cyber security so any thoughts would be helpful. I already have a bachelor's degree, but it's in arts because I was going to be a teacher. Didn't really enjoy it.
For the excel classes list when you click the link for Information Technology Fundamentals it sends me to a precalculus course is that a mistake because the only introduction to I.T class that straighter line can transfer into WGU is Information Technology Fundamentals(I.T101)?
What if I already have an ASSOCIATE DEGREE FROM LOCAL COLLEGE AND B.S. DEGREE FROM UNIVERSITY but now I just want certification in computer science so how long will it take for me to be certified and how much is it gonna cost me ?
Hey Princess. I have a video just for this: Fastest Possible BS: ua-cam.com/video/Sb4-RY2zoIU/v-deo.html This is for IT management, but the same strategy applies for business management. Check out this spreadsheet with the Study.com mappings for ALL degrees. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1SHtCCKJafxrTJiB-59s8GOAn2J4b1dqCDjm-iurA9oU/edit#gid=423363706
Do you have any study tips, how to divvy up the work / how to choose what to focus on / how to avoid taking notes on every single word said in a video / I find myself opening 100s of tabs thinking one thing will be better than the other and never actually progressing.
So, basically I just laser focus on one thing at a time until it's done. As far as taking notes and committing things to memory, just watch this video. It's quite good and I recommend it to my friends IRL: ua-cam.com/video/CeEZJPJO474/v-deo.html (It also covers Anki, which is what I use to memorize stuff)
Hey! It’s worth it. I’ve had this question before but abet accreditation doesn’t matter for tech degrees. Other universities (UC Berkeley, for ex) has dropped this accreditation for their CS and other programs because it’s not needed and is a waste of resources. Since getting my CS degree, I’ve interviewed at Google, Amazon, Microsoft, and some other random companies (currently work at Microsoft doing automation engineering). The WGU CS degree is definitely worth the time/effort. Highly recommend you watch this short video! ua-cam.com/video/qYoqn6owDeI/v-deo.html
Hey Josh, would it be better to go for the cybersecurity degree program (due to all the certifications you’ll have at the end of the program) rather than doing the computer science degree program (which you end up with less certifications)? Thank you again for all the videos.
I believe he recommended against that path because the certs take so much time and you can get one of the other degrees much more quickly and then do the certs on your own in less time

You motivated me to go back to college Josh! Thank you for everything you posted previously!
Thanks you so much for sharing, I'm really glad to hear it :). Best of luck!

Congratulations 🎉🍾 You Rock!!!
Thank you so much, it was a huge pain lol. but I'm glad it's done
Man your content has been super valuable for me. Thanks.
I feel like not having a CS degree is gate keeping me right now.
how did it go
holy smokes thank you so much man!!! I'm implementing this now wow
Glad you found it helpful! haha

Np Abby!! Ty for watching!
WGU has updated their computer science courses in October 2024. Do you think you'll update your spreadsheets to reflect these changes? Your spreadsheets and videos overall are incredibly helpful! Thanks, Josh!
That's the plan! I have someone who updates it monthly, but they are a bit busy. They will get to it though!
Thanks Josh! Yet another helpful video!
Thanks Logan! Much appreciated!
thumbs up thanks a lot currently studying calculus with straighter line half way through . cant wait to start!
No problem! Best of luck with the calculus! SL is the way to go if you can take it there.
This is incredible information, thank you so much
Wow Josh, this is the best thing I've run across in years.
Thanks!
Whoa. They did.... We need the updated transfer video asap !!
Is it harder now ? Or what ?
@@hamzamohamed6748 seems so, before you could take 27ish classes outside of wgu and only do 7ish classes in wgu.

Is this still applicable in 2024?

Thoughts?
This is very helpful!
I kind of appreciate the content thank you

Hi josh, is there any particular reason you used straighterline instead of Sophia for the courses? I was hoping to use Sophia since they’re a flat rate per month but don’t want to pay if I can’t transfer in any Sophia courses before beginning at WGU. Enrolling soon and appreciate all the help!

I feel the Computer Science Degree is better to get overall, but i'm scared about the math portion. Should i just go cloud or cybersecurity instead? thanks for any tips or thoughts. safe journeys
Hey Wayne, I recognize you, we chatted on instagram haha. I'll paste my reply here in case it's useful for someone else who comes across this:
Hey Wayne!
I personally like CS better than IT, and IT better than cyber, but that’s just me, haha
Cloud would be a solid choice if you want to get a high paying job kinda fast (lookup Cloud support engineer on indeed)
From there, you can easily pivot to wherever you want. (Coding, cyber, etc.)
@@JoshMadakor yes, thanks so much
They've updated their courses and trasnferrable classes. Can you create an updated version for 2023
I failed Algebra in high school.
Thank you for this man, my capstone just passed and I started 8/1 🙏🏿. What now 😅
Currently I work as a self taught software developer who dropped out of college. I want to do this but getting through the gen eds sounds like a big pain. Doing the CS and math sounds interesting though...
got my evaluation back today, I have 93 hours of College credit and they are only accepting 22 credits. This is nuts.
Dang that sucks. If you still wanna go for it, I might consider using study.com, Sophia, and straighterline (for calculus) to knock out as many credits as you can. In the description, I think I have a link for all of the transferable courses from sdc, you just have to select your degree on the spreadsheet!
Outstanding Game planning
When you say the gen ed classes took you a week or so (other than Calculus) how many hours per day per class were you studying?
What if I don’t have a high school diploma would those courses credit help with the admission for the computer science degree?
What resource did you use to pre game study
The WGU CS Degree has updated classes. The spreadsheet listed in the description needs to be updated.
Grats!
Thanks so much! And thanks for attending the stream, really appreciate it
Awesome! Where is the WGU Sponsorship at?
They are stingy lol, I'll never even get a cheap hat from them at this rate 😂

Just to say I have a degree plus I feel it will look good on resumes.
Hello, are all the transferable courses available on Sophia Learning?
Would you recommend getting a Bachelors in CS even though I’m a current college student who is pursuing a Mechanical engineering degree? I intent to go to law school to go into pattent law after college, and CS is much more preferred for Patent law. I didn’t want my studies at my 4 year university to be in CS as I did not know my level of intrest or skill, however I think it will give me a bit of an edge to have a CS degree.
Hi Josh, so you used 2months, what about the 4months left. Could you sign up for another degree. (software development?) and not pay?
Hey Doc! yeah you can actually.
_>Josh what degree from WGU is the best one to pursue a career in software engineer?_
Computer Science first, then Software Development second! (in my opinion)
_>Also what languages / topics should I focus on outside of the degree?_
I kind of recommend using python to grind data structures and algorithms. I really break down how to do that in this video: ua-cam.com/video/wVOU-oLOGuk/v-deo.html
Best of luck! Very cool career you've got so far :)

There’s a BS in software dev? I thought it was just Computer Science as a whole, is there major differences?
I’m attending for software development also
@@ronaldoangel1544 I thought that too. The difference is that thr CS degree is for people who want to know how computers work and how machine learning, and hardware coding works. Software engineering is everything regarding just that... Software programming. Looks like both allow ypu to make good money but Software engineering seems to be more sought after
I had heard that WGU will be limiting the amount of initial transfer courses sometime soon. Have you heard anything about this?
Yeah, they are limited already, but they are limiting them more? Not sure :\
Yep, if you qualify for financial aid or scholarships etc.
Hi Josh,
I was told by an admission counselor that I can not get an evaluation of my transcript unless I enroll first.
When I graduate with BS in IT from WGU. Can I transfer all credits that are transferable from my IT degree to a Computer Science degree at WGU?
Omg...you're little "subscribe?" Face cracked me up. And yes! I totally subscribed JUST bec of that. Lol.
@@JoshMadakor I always watch the entire video. : )
_>If you have completed one program with WGU and want to do a second program, will they accept new transfer courses?_
Yep, they can def be transferred, but each program has a max around 75% or so. It's very good and probably why I only had 11 classes to complete the CS degree, lol
@@JoshMadakor thank you!
Is this still up to date? Or is there a resource you can point me to to find out if a course is still transferable to WGU?
There is this spreadsheet that we made recently that maps ALL programs to study.com, this is the tab for Computer Science: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1SHtCCKJafxrTJiB-59s8GOAn2J4b1dqCDjm-iurA9oU/edit#gid=638724391
Also, if you go here, on the bottom right, you can see mappings for sophia, saylor, Study dot com, and others: partners.wgu.edu/Pages/Partners.aspx
If you use study dot com, there is a discount code: joshmadakor
Hope this helps!
Had to cut phase one and two short.. 😅I have 13 months left active duty so I just needed to start knocking them out
Hi Josh, I'm interested in the cyber security degree.
How can I complete the Business Management bachelor's degree within a year?
Hey Princess. I have a video just for this: Fastest Possible BS: ua-cam.com/video/Sb4-RY2zoIU/v-deo.html
This is for IT management, but the same strategy applies for business management.
It's quite good and I recommend it to my friends IRL: ua-cam.com/video/CeEZJPJO474/v-deo.html
(It also covers Anki, which is what I use to memorize stuff)
Is a CS degree from WGU worth it since it’s not ABET accredited?
Oh I wanna add, just a degree isn’t enough to work at FAANG, I studied a lot of algorithms too. Check out my google video :)
Hey Josh, would it be better to go for the cybersecurity degree program (due to all the certifications you’ll have at the end of the program) rather than doing the computer science degree program (which you end up with less certifications)? Thank you again for all the videos.
I believe he recommended against that path because the certs take so much time and you can get one of the other degrees much more quickly and then do the certs on your own in less time
hello should i enroll in computer science or bachelor of science software engineering? and whats the difference
