You need to align nose wheel screw and tighten to flat on shaft . Then trim alignment to rudder servo. Then find a much larger area to fly.

I was caught between almost laughing out loud at your attempts at take off and total admiration for you having the guts to show your mishaps so openly. I’m a pretty novice pilot myself but no matter how “easy to fly” they make these models, they still require a degree of skill. It’s generally easier to hand launch and - as a lot of the other comments made - give yourself as much room as possible both in terms of field size and flying height as that gives you more time to deal with problems. I’ve also learned the hard way and have spent a few hours trying to fish my aircraft out of the clinging branches of pesky trees! Keep going- it DOES get easier- and more fun!

You may have a model aircraft club in your area, and I'm sure you can find someone who would be happy to give you flight instruction. Yes you needed a much bigger field, and an instructor with a "buddy box" connection to your transmitter. Even in real airplanes they didn't give me the controls for takeoffs and landings untill after several flights where the instructor took care of that while I learned to control the plane once in the air.

  • @stephentoons
    @stephentoons 12 днів тому +1

the instrucitons tell you how to set up before first flight, You need to do the trim for the nose wheel for straight rolling.

I had the same experience with mine on the first flight flight. Second flight ended in a nose dive which destroyed the front end. My problem was to small of space. The next time I flew was in a very large field and it helped so much. My confidence grew a whole bunch after being able to take off and land it.

Sorry about your terrible first experience! 🙁 I hope that you'll find some help for your future attempts 🤞🏾
The Aeroscout is an awesome trainer, and it is very sturdy as you already experienced ...I hope that you can recover her soon...I suggest you to find a local baseball park or an empty mall parking lot and practice there... Make sure that you perform a good preflight checks and secure and tighten all the screws very good, specifically the one that holds the front landing gear...
Again I really wish that you can recover your plane and that your future attempts ended up with a really good finale! 🤞🏾🤞🏾🙏

I'm sure I commented on this when I first saw it but from my own horribly wrong first flight to my joining an RC Club with a group of professionals, was the best decision I ever made. That plane will do anything you tell it to if it's adjusted right. You didn't change a prop did you, if it's backwards it will fly, just will not have the umph, this guy at thy club looks and says, your prop is on wrong! 😂 what a difference.. be safe

Thanks for reaching out. That was nearly 2 years ago and was the first time I ever attempted to fly an RC plane. I didn't know what I was doing and it got stuck in a tree, never to be seen again. I bought the Carbon Cub to replace it and crashed that a few times but I still have it. I haven't tried to fly an RC plane again since last year but I do plan to repair the carbon cub and try again in the fall.

dude the aeroscout in safe mode is one of the easiest planes to learn on. practice that plane on the simulator and always make sure that you test all surfaces in a preflight check. i think you screwed up the nose wheel installation. There is a flat spot on the shaft that has to line up with the screw realflight 9.5s is the best tool for you. also go find a soccer field or a park that is HUGE

I got my first plane stuck in a tree also! It just so happened I had a home made blowgun in my car! It’s about $5 to make one out of metal conduit, you can find it on UA-cam. Also use surveyor flags, 3 per wire flag and put something blunt on the tip to “knock” it out. Everything can be found at a hardware store. Good luck. P.S. watch videos on flying RC, when you think you got it watch some more! Lol

As an instructor I always insist a new flier find an area open to at LEAST 200ft in all directions! Yeah, *I* and others can fly in the field you used because of experience in keeping a plane within the confines, but to start, don’t be restrained like this! I hated to see you lose the plane! An Aeroscout can do this but it takes practice.
Check my channel for “Aeroscout flies in 30mph winds”. A vid I just posted for grins. These planes are perfect for starting out so give yourself some space! Being relaxed in an open field will allow better control and judgement.

It’s horrible to think that, after buying a plane, then investing in a pc plus flight software you have nothing. Lol, I got the same problem on my first flight, I straightened the wheel and then had no issues on take off. There is not enough airspace for you to fly where you did, specially if you were using safe mode, you need more space to turn your plane around. There were too many tall obstacles. My recommendation, buy the steam real flight trainer ($39)and learn to fly on your pc using your controller. You will be happier with the results.

I don't understand, was the rudder not working properly or were you not using it? The aeroscout taxis very well, especially on asphalt. Also for small areas like that you would want safe at least on intermediate. Beginner doesn't allow you to bank enough to make sharp turns.

Painful…. I wouldn’t have left it in the tree. There are a few ways to an aircraft out of a tree, in my case a drone. I used stuff I had sitting around conduit, a few lengths of dowel, duct tape, surgical tubing and a fishing reel from a neighbor.
I used the dowel like arrows and the conduit like a rifle barrel and then a lot of patience.

This aircraft is ultra sensitive to settings , especially elevator, and I have had nothing but difficulties with it compared to others I own. After breaking the nose wheel four times, and destructive crashes four times, I have decided it is no longer worth my efforts and I will be taking it apart for the electronic in it. Many may get it to fly properly, and when it does fly, it is a great plane, but simply not worth the effort required to continue to do so. Your experience may vary but I would rather use my time to fly other more stable planes.
Compared to flying professional DJI drones, this is an extremely difficult hobby and has a huge learning curve,

No matter what the distance is to an AMA flying club I think it will pay great dividends to start practicing with an instructor. You first "hands on" can be in level flight after he safely gets your airplane to a safe altitude. I too did not do this. I could take off and land safely if I was standing right behind the plane. I had several short up and down flights. I built a Carl Goldberg Eaglet (I think that was the name) with a .20 gas engine along with Futaba radio gear. I went to a closed runway of an active airport for my first real flight. Once my plane was flying towards me I could not get comfortable and lost control quickly. That bird was too fast for me. It got higher and soon it was over the active runway of the airport. I didn't want police trouble or tower personnel after me so i pushed down and KAMIKAZE straight down into the concrete deck. Even my gas engine would not turn over again. Surprisingly my Futaba servos still worked fine. I will say to you that you made me want to commit seppuku and at the very least put a towel over my head and cry. Your video is powerful, not fun but powerful. Perhaps your will be able to fly full speed just a few feet off the deck and fly low and slow with complete control with practice. Every expert has made mistakes and most likely had their share of crashes. You'll be just fine if you love the hobby but hook up with an AMA Club and pay the membership dues for a few months until you are ready to go solo from wherever you like. Think about hand launching too. There are lots of RC Pilots on UA-cam to watch and learn from. You and I must graduate from the "dorkmeister club". I hope I never see such a painful video again. Money is like the blood in our body and we cannot spill it in the treetops. The financial hit alone is painful to lose your bird! Carbon Cub is an awesome bird and they have several models of the CC. I'm happy to hear you are gaining experience. We all been there, lost mind within hours in a large tree- The Aeroscout really doesn't take much of a beating when learning, the entire front end nose is balsa wood so housing for front tire to steer takes one bad hit and its toast. good luck, FYI- like others said find a large, very large area without any tall trees to learn.

@@newenglandrc Im sorry but it was funny probably because It was so similar to my first attemps .Hey its been about 25 years and I tried learning on my own like you and I did learn to fly although it was the hard way to do it because I was not the kind to join a club. The 2nd video ramming the carbon cub into the fence on the ground was just like I did when I started and I crashed at least 3 planes afterward , the big difference was mine all had to be built from a kit and they were not the new electric foam style quick to put together models like these today. Don"t give up just remember when you turn with the ailerons and rudder you also need to use up elevator and power to keep the plane from going down when turning, once you master that these new planes are a snap to land. Just remember to gain more altitude and a little up elevator when banking to make a turn, good luck.
