Lesson 565 - How to use article THE in English by Socheat Thin
THE has so many different ways to use.
Today I would like to show you 13 ways to use THE so that you can better use or better understand when you do the reading.
តើពេលណាត្រូវប្រើ THE?
1.ពេលដែលយើង ដឹងថា ឬជឿជាក់ អ្នកស្តាប់ ឬ អ្នកអានដឹងច្បាស់ពីអ្វីដែលយើងនិយាយអំពីវា
2.ពេលនិយាយពីអ្វីដែលយើងបាននិយាយរួចមកហើយ
3.ពេលនិយាយពីអ្វីដែលមានតែ១
4.ពេលនិយាយពីអ្វីនៅក្នុងបរិបទ
5.ពេលប្រើជាមួយ a superlative adjective:
6.ពេលប្រើ Adjectives ជា Noun (ដែលមានន័យថាក្រុមមនុស្ស)
7.ប្រើពេលនិយាយអ្វី១ជារួម (ជាទូទៅ)
8.ជាមួយឧបករណ៍ភ្លេង
9. ជាមួយឈ្មោះត្រកូល/គ្រួសារ (លក្ខណៈគ្រួសារទាំងមូល)
10. ឈ្មោះស្ថាបត្យកម្មល្បីៗ ឈ្មោះស្នាដៃល្បីៗ
11. ឈ្មោះកាសែត
12. ជាមួយឈ្មោះប្រទេសដែលមានពាក្យ Kingdom, state ឬ republic និង ប្រទេសដែលមានឈ្មោះពហុវចន
13.ពេលវេលាមួយចំនួន
ប្រើ THE
ពេលដែលយើង ដឹងថា ឬជឿជាក់ អ្នកស្តាប់ ឬ អ្នកអានដឹងច្បាស់ពីអ្វីដែលយើងនិយាយអំពីវា
Examples:
Can you open the window please?
Can you answer the phone?
Our boss told us to plan for the New Year party.
The government should do more to help people in this area.
2. ពេលនិយាយពីអ្វីដែលយើងបាននិយាយរួចមកហើយ
Examples:
Sreyneang has a three-year-old daughter. The girl wants to be a politician.
A young man went to the shop with a knife. The man robbed the owner when she was alone.
3- ពេលនិយាយពីអ្វីដែលមានតែ១
the sun, the moon, the sky, the world, the universe
Also consider as unique: the government, the police, the internet,…etc.
Examples:
Everyone know that the sun rises in the east.
Sopheap has traveled all over the world.
The moon is very bright tonight.
Who is the president of USA?
4. ពេលនិយាយពីអ្វីនៅក្នុងបរិបទ
Examples:
We live in a small house next to the pagoda. (= the pagoda in our village)
Look at the boy over there. (= the boy I am pointing at)
Dad, can I borrow the car? (= the car that belongs to our family)

Good question! If the country is plural we have to say 'the'. For example 'The' United States or the Philippines. Cambodia though is not Plural, so we just say Cambodia.😁
