thanks i was so pissed i missed first the dublin then the glasgow gig due to ill health i so hope these niughts were recorded and make it to dvd etc. but you view is phenominal and agin thanks
Excellent work! I saw you both at the pre-Bloodstock show in Manchester last year, and then Sunday night here, and hot damn you've become so much more comfortable in that time playing metal drums! That's not to say you were bad or anything last year, not at all, but you just seem so much more fluid and at ease with it now. Hearing Almost Again last year was great, but hearing it the other week was phenomenal! You'll become a bonafide blast beater in no time! haha
Hey Darby! A sincere “bravo, well done sir” for your performances last weekend. I was at this show on Sunday night and was an incredible gig. You absolutely killed it! I still can’t hear but hey! 👏👏👏
I grabbed his CD during intermission. it is very enjoyable. I sent it to another reactor I follow JustJP. I should have grabbed two as I ended up ordering one for myself directly from him. was the show you saw Darby by himself or was he with Martin Barre's band
Just rewards for the incredible Bloodstock performance, good to see that Devin has seen that too. Gutted I couldnt get the time off work but fingers crossed a few more UK dates in the winter (shiny new arena in Swansea just begging to be blown to bits!) might be on the cards?
Sending best wishes and a lot of strength your way, dude. My grandad suffered a stroke two years ago at the age of 81 and he's still going strong - you've got this!
Sounds awesome, as usual. Don't know what that drum at your rightmost is called (at the "bottom of the screen"), but it sounds so good, substantial. Don't know if you're restricted from being able to upload performances of other songs from these two nights, but, if you aren't, would be tremendous if you could upload more (all of them would be amazing, but, if that's not possible, then perhaps "Aftermath" and "Almost Again" at least?).
Using the tom for that insane double bass section was a smart move. I was wondering how you were going to handle that. Not to say nobody can play it, but it's almost impossibly fast. And I do the same shit in my band. Drummers, don't let your guitarist write the drum parts.
I can play that part on kicks. But some days I don’t feel confident that I’m gonna make it the whole way through! In those instances I just cheat. In some ways I think it sounds more interesting while giving the same musical intention.
@@DarbyTodd that's true. Using the floor toms gives it that tribal mallets pounding huge drums sort of vibe, which fits perfectly with how dark and intense that section feels (especially with the chorus in the background). It works really well.
Enjoyed the Sunday RAH gig dude. Well played. How come I've got more subscribers than you though? 🤣 That can't be right but I'm sure that will change pretty quickly now. Check out my drummer Martin Davies. He's a beast.
Just had a listen to your live stuff. Sounds great. I played on occasion with Simon as well. Such a loss he’s not hear to play music anymore. Will have a listen to some more of your stuff. You may dig some of my solo album. Far more jazz than last Sunday night! There’s some clips on my channel. Stay well.
@@DarbyTodd ah man...I had no idea you knew Simon. Yeah. Absolutely tragic. What an absolute beast of a player. Rod Mason mentioned you to me as well the other day. You might want to check out my bandcamp which has more of my crazy progressive metal stuff on it.
@@GrahamYoung yeah man. Www.DarbyTodd.com there’s a couple of full songs on my UA-cam channel. Some pretty awesome guitarists on it. Bumblefoot, Per Nilsson, Martin Barre, Kee Marcello and a whole bunch more!
One of the bests drum cam sounds i ever listen!!
Got damn those drums sound huuuge! 😮
Love your feel on the kit. It's natural and not robotic!!! Just like Devin!!
Solid as ever... Amazing job!
Should get up Aftermath played on the Saturday, was epic in the Albert Hall hearing that!
This was my boy's first ever live concert! what a show and performance! super memorable for us both. cheers Darby!

YES!!! 🤘🤘
Great energy!

My Lord
Wow, how fluid and relaxed yet engaging! Really happy that you are working with Dev.
Thanks Darby. Your performance in Dublin a few nights earlier was amazing.
Sounds freaking AMAZING. Such an honor to see you guys live this past week all the way from the US. Outstanding.
Sunday night was so good and you nailed it Darby!
Any stuff from the Saturday night? Detox was massive

Mate, this is absolutely brilliant. Danny Mills gigs prepared you well...
Such a beast!, I saw you play a couple of songs for a Robben Ford guitar clinic in Guildford a few years back

sweet!
God damn
Huge performance. From what I saw in other clips posted you nailed Almost Again as well. Loved the ending fill!
so slick! I could probably play until 2:50 :)
@DarbyTodd you use a trigger on the snare for this brachial snare sound?
Please say you have a drum cam of Juular from the first night 🙏🏻
Nice one Darby!
After saw you on the Bloddstock festival I was greatly impressed by your drumming. A pleasure to see/hear you play!! 👏🙌
I clicked on your channel and realized that you're the writer of "Apathy in The Face Of Uncertain Death", listened a lot to this track last february.
Yeah! That's from my solo album. Myself and bass player Dave Marks wrote that! I'm really proud of that tune!
🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
I was blown away by your playing at this gig dude! Really felt some Gene Holland vibes, not bad for a jazz guy eh? 😉
*Hoglan
Well, this would be Ryan Van Poederooyen for the Devin Townsend Project songs. Either way, both guys are amazing drummers
Should have been at the Sunday gig but ive suffered a stroke hopefully it was recorded for a future bluray release
Hope you're doing okay my dude!

That's a floor tom. Usually in drumkits like this all the drums 'on' the bass drum and around the snare drum (the white one) are called tom toms.

Whhats happrned to RVP.
RVP was the drummer for The Devin Townsend Project, which has been disbanded for some years now.
Fuckin' metronome... no more life in concerts.
