It's fine as long as Ben Johnson and J.T. Barrett are the ones primarily in charge of Caleb's development. Taylor can just be another voice in the room to contribute ideas.

Contentious, yes, but I'm just going to sit here and think " He's not Waldron, or Getzy" plus he's not calling plays or anything. I think he'll help, and not hinder. Another good upload mate! 🐻⬇

I like how we have coaches returning to their level of competence.
Reverse Peter principle seems like a good idea. Let them do, what they are capable of, instead of always promoting people to their level of incompetence.

He a pass game coordinator, that’s it,not calling plays, all he can do is suggest,Coach Johnson will have the final say!! Relax people, some typical Bears fans commenting,it’s gross!!

A little more experience with Taylor - Carry out Johnson’s vision! Will we see a “Chicago Express” play? Haha
      Thx for watching! 🐻⬇️

The Bears did the “Philly Special” play the with Matt Barkley first

Only reason he has a bad Rep because Wentz didn’t want to run the same offense as Foles! Look up the Djack and Shady McCoy’s podcast! I love this hire!

Just because he was on the team doesn’t mean he contributed to developing the QBs in Philly or Jacksonville. Only time will tell. I highly doubt Press will have much influence on Caleb’s development. That responsibility falls on Johnson, whose job will be on the hot seat if there's no improvement. The Bears brought Johnson in specifically to develop Caleb and call plays. It’s still unclear what kind of culture the Bears will establish under Johnson.

Well, to be fair… he was the quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator in Philly so I would say he had a big hand in qb development … plus as an OC in Jacksonville… not sure I agree 🤷
But yes, in Chicago he won’t be the guy directly mentoring Caleb… he will be setting the table for Ben and carrying out the game day plans.
Thanks for watching - always appreciate you. 🐻⬇️

@@SportsTalkBears1 I appreciate your positive takes, but let’s be honest, Press won’t have a major role in Caleb’s development. His job is to support Ben. I’m more interested in who the offensive line coach will be since the OC and passing coordinator roles are just fill in positions that won't contribute right away.

    He has a superbowl ring

A ring doesn’t automatically make someone great. It’s a team accomplishment. Even backup QBs get one. The real question is, what was his impact beyond just being on a winning team?

    • @SportsTalkBears1
      @SportsTalkBears1  6 днів тому +2

@ my take is that he’s a creative offensive mind - good for developing a playbook collaboratively…
An asset in helping to get the most out of qb talent and experienced working w receivers.. just not cut out for a higher role which is ok! Not a fit as an OC.
He is a nice addition to a team of coaches, but not a “chief”.

My thoughts exactly ! Trevor Lawrence has not gotten better as a QB with high skills. Was hoping for a much better OC.

The Bears ran that play first, Philly copied it
