You looked up preserved angelica because of Mrs. Crocombie

@@foragerchef4141 On the English Heritage channel there’s a series called “The Victorian Way”, and the host is Mrs. Crocombe, she uses Angelica in some of her recipes!

This summer I tried this recipe using Anthriscus Sylvestris (Cow Parsley) and it turned out really good, almost like the one i did last year with Angelica stems, but the flavour is not as strong so you can enjoy it as is. Thank you!

Should this be refrigerated between runs? I don’t have a dehydrator, would it work to dry these out on the countertop? This is what I’ve seen in other recipes. Thanks!

This looks nice - do you know if Angelica sylvestris will work as well? I find it regularly here in Germany.

Found it in my literature. In France they use A. archangelica and A. sylvestris, but the latter is said to be less aromatic.

Wondering how this would work with Japanese Knotweed.

Yes you could. They’re so good as pickles I wouldn’t though, personal preference.

Sorry if I missed it, but what does it taste like? This is my first time hearing of this ingredient. Thanks.

It tastes very strong, floral and herbaceous. The plant is often used to flavor gin.
