Psychology : Video on Ernest Kretschmer’s Classification of Personality

Ernest Krestchmer a German psychologist studied his mental patients in an attempt to correlate physique and character. After those studies he came up with four different types of personalities which were
a.) Pyknic Type
b.) Asthenic Type
c.) Athletic Type
d.) Dysplastic Type
each of these types links a specific body type to a set of personality traits.

I think Kretschmer's ideas are heavily misunderstood. The three temperaments he claims are like the basis vectors of the X, Y, and Z axes in three-dimensional space.
A child can inherit the temperaments of both parents. So he is pointing out that if the parents have different temperaments, a mixing of temperaments and physiques will occur in the child. So I think we believe that temperament itself has an infinite variety.
But to analyze the human temperament vector, we can almost explain it by the synthesis of three basis vectors.
Of course, this is a developing theory, and three basis vectors may not be enough for a rigorous analysis.
