It wasn’t a close fight at all but that doesn’t mean he can’t win the rematch. One punch can change everything in the Heavyweight division.

This is where it becomes a big problem. There isn’t a rematch clause, they instead have 1 more fight with Turki. Eddie is implying that Turki will now throw all the money at DD & Frank Warren to make the fight happen - but what about the ranked fighters for the belt? This is the issue - the belts becoming redundant and Turki taking over. Gotta go careful what you wish for - all the younger, fresher fighters aren’t getting the opportunity they deserve.

I get your point but I actually think the fights that have been made in the last 12 months are probably clearing the way for the younger fighters coming through. Aj has 1 to 3 fights left, Wilder is done but might get another go, Fury and Usyk are both coming to the latter stages. The Fury and Usyk fights would have dragged out over 18 months to 2 years in previous times where as now its done in 7-8 months. The concern is more what happens when the Saudi money disappears.

This clip shows and proves just how people like Hearn don’t really care about their fighters and are just picking up the cheque. Hearn says AJ didn’t do what he worked on when the truth is that’s exactly what AJ did and that’s exactly what got him knocked out. If Hearn cared about AJ he would know this and fire Ben. Simply because the sequence of punches that got AJ knocked out is the exact same drill we have seen him practice over and over with Ben. AJ throws a combination, no head or foot movement and stands in front of Ben with his chin up and Ben praises him and rinse and repeat. So when he tried that with someone punching back, even with his eyes closed, Dubois managed to land. These are things that a manager who cares would know and fix. But Hearn only cares about the bag that he gets win lose or draw. If Hearn only got paid if AJ wins, Hearn would take more interest then and get him better trainer.
Eddie is a promoter, he doesn't pick the trainer that's on the boxer himself, and of course he cares about AJ both from a business perspective and on a personal level, he can advise AJ but at the end of the day it's AJ who chooses to stay with a trainer and if he will fight on or not.

If Eddie Hearn has AJ best interests and what is the best thing for him, first and foremost, his wellbeing and future, then he should not be talking rematch clauses. After that overwhelming batting he needs to call it a day.
If Fury wins why the hell would AJ get a shot at that unified fight against him???? Surely DDD is the one who deserves that? A rematch would result in the same outcome for AJ. It was a pure beat down.
AJ is a great athlete but aggressive punchers with good gas tanks were always going to be his kryptonite, with AJ's slow recovery powers. This wasn't any shock in terms of how the fight played out, it was just a test of whether DDD was actually going to come in confident and try to put it on AJ or not. Had he been more tentative, AJ probably would have figured out a way to win. But he didn't and we got the result that was always waiting for AJ under such circumstances. Ruiz showed it in their first fight. When you put it on AJ and you can withstand his counters, AJ gets stunned and stopped. No shame in it, not many people can do that to him, but those who can do it will beat him ten out of ten times.

There comes a point when people no longer want to buy what you’re selling if your asset keeps losing value. Hearn is trying so hard and he’s on a PR mission; most Boxing fans know better now. Joshua will always have a massive casual audience, but those of us who follow Boxing as a whole and not just Joshua know the reality. Well done to AJ for his career, there are still good fights out there for him, but the rematch isn’t interesting.
Let the division move on. Stop chasing titles; fight Wilder, fight in Africa (Bakole would take the money regardless of his position in the current landscape), take a Whyte rematch and look good in a fight with an enjoyable build-up; he’s not at the level to hold a Heavyweight title. That ship has sailed. He never beats Usyk, the Fury fight would still sell, but if Fury manages to beat Usyk that fight should not happen or even be close to happening. Parker, Bakole, Kabayel, Dubois - they’re all ahead of Joshua right now.
There clearly isn’t a rematch clause either; Hearn and Joshua have another fight under Turki, but that doesn’t mean Dubois has to take it. If you’re Dubois and his team, you look to make an undisputed fight, but you also tell Turki that you will take the AJ fight for ridiculous money - twice what they’re paying Joshua. If that doesn’t happen, you say no problem and you fight Usyk or Fury. Hearn doesn’t hold the cards.

There's no way AJ should be headlining boxing events anymore. He should be on the undercard. This is why Hearn and AJ are so unlikeable. The sense of entitlement is extraordinary. Joshua shouldn't be getting anywhere near 7 figure purses anymore yet he will be getting his usual £20 - £50 million purse.
