I'm from South East Oklahoma. I remember back in the mid 80's I moved to Dallas for a couple of years. One day a co-worker and I were driving down the freeway and I was waving at people. The co-worker was laughing at me! Got a big kick out of it and said why are you waving at everyone? I said thats what we do where I come from!

The whole "yes, ma'am" line is so true. I use miss as it implies less of an "older" connotation for younger gals and makes older ladies blush. Sir was always used when I grew up as well. From the country in PA now in Denver (California lite) people here look at me funny too. Darius if you remember back at Disney in the mid 90's my sister and I did a commercial (what my parents said) eating a big ice cream sundae on a patio with you back in the Hootie days. Wish I could remember better but glad to be able to still listen to your awesome music! Hope to see you again soon under the big lights

Great song Darius. I discovered you throught the shallow hal sound track "This is my world" but I really like this song. Reminds me of the southern hospitality I was welcomed with while living in NC. You sure make me miss that Southern life. Thank you for bringing me back there. I maybe from California but I still got a NC accent and i experience the same things you talk about in this song. Still day dreaming of home back in NC and getting weird looks when I say "Hi" to strangers.
