Germany’s Real-Life Disney Castle
Вставка
- Опубліковано 15 лис 2018
- Perched atop a foresty hill in Bavaria, Germany, is a real-life fantasy castle. Commissioned by King Ludwig II in 1869, Neuschwanstein Castle has become a major part of our cultural history, even serving as inspiration for Walt Disney’s “Sleeping Beauty.” Adored by his people, Ludwig was nicknamed the “fairy-tale king” for his love of music, plays and fantasy. Ousted in 1886, he didn’t quite have the fairy-tale ending one might expect. Regardless, the legacy he left through his castle has inspired the imaginations of countless generations.

Surreal to think I've been there in person on a student exchange trip. The drive to get there is just as enchanting as the castle itself
I've been to the castle myself and to be honest, it's amazing. the death of the king is so interesting because he was found drowned in a petter deep pond along with his physiatric assistant. I recommend going here even though it's a long drive to get there.
lol let's not forget that it's unfinished on the inside, Ludwig II was deeply unpopular for spending tax payer money on this kind of stuff that was long out of date & massively expensive, and declared insane cause he was almost definitely gay. Boy he lived for the drama.
Bee back then there wasn’t as much of a stigma for being homosexual. It wasn’t a thang. I doubt that was the motivation for his insanity.
@@johncole4882 don't get me wrong, it definitely wasn't the Only Reason (his castle projects plunged Bavaria into millions of marks in debt) but it def was a Factor, among other things. I'm an historian of modern lgbt history (in training, to be fair) and the stigma was definitely Real, though different from what it is today.
@@Himewna I suppose for a part homosexuality not leading to heirs would be more prominent in some situations. Just guessing
Bee Ludwig is like the name Hedwig just uglier
I feel like I've seen this video before
HARDworkerz23 definitely
Me too , some serious deja vu going on in my mind .
Same
It is because they reposted it
@@jarielysmartinez505 wooooooooooosh
I was at Castle Neuschwanstein and it really was an amazing experience as if you could walk into a fairytale world. It is a pretty long way up the hill but when you are there you definitely go into a world were sadness basically isn't a thing. A great video!
You know German is hard when Neuschwanstein is pronounced as Noyshwuhnstuhyn
She didn't pronounced it right

@@Psychol-Snooper no Neu-schwan-stein :D
@@maze95
You do not understand English pronunciation, kid.
Been there, the view from the balcony I will never forget
There's like 6 castles in that area. the inside was okay but honestly the outside was better lol
....mainly because it is unfinished and the king died too early. But there are plenty of other awesome castles and most have a furbished inside
But the princess. She's in another castle
I was here last summer !!! So beautiful
I joined a friend on a camping trip to Schwangau thinking it would be nice to be in nature. What I did not expect was to be surrounded by beautiful castles and small cities. I totally recommend going there, the people were friendly and there is so much to do in two weeks. And Munich is two hours away with the train. One of the best memories I have!
I've been here and it was such a great experience to visit this castle
Been there myself. It’s was so amazing but I couldn’t walk after the climb.
Ir0n the climb to the mont st michel abbey is so much worse! Neuchwanstein is a true jewel. Highlight of my Europe trip
@@hamzahalasadulloh7779 Omg I know right! The walk was so long and we coudn't go by bus because we brought our dog :')
Dancing Goat oh I know how you feel. I think we missed the bus back to the parking lot so we had to walk all the way back. It was gorgeous though!
Hamzah Al Asadulloh It really was! But it was very busy 😨
Ir0n eh the climb was alright... we took a bus down though.
I've been there! I recommend viewing it from afar on the bridge
Beautiful castle indeed. 👍>People who are commenting that this is a re-upload are thinking about another GBS “Disney” castle video about *_Alcazar de Segovia_* in Spain.
Why? Can you expand?
What a magical place
Reupload???
Sleeping beauty was my fave Disney cartoon growing up
Good story but the video was terrible. This is not a music video, there is no need to have 1-4 second clips. Pan slowly, show off the castle... it's not hard.
I agree. Although I think it's got to do more with the editor than the videographer. I think the camera work is great. Should've been longer clips though.
Oooooooooooooooooooo!! 😂
I went there and it was amazing.
Commander Farsight what is it called
@@gststg64849 It's called "Schloss Neuschwanstein"
I’ve been here! Its in Füssen it took about 25 mins to get up and like 10 mins to get down
If you plan to visit Neuschwanstein, PLEASE BUY YOUR TICKETS ONLINE if you don‘t want to stand in line for like a month!! 😅
Very beautiful castle, but the real disney castle is Alcazar of Segovia (Spain) , this is a 19th century one, and the Segovia's castle is dated 12 th century
How long did it take to build?
What a great castle to visit one day.
UNLEASHING POTENTIAL - PSYCHOLOGY VIDEOS Yes.
Looks like the castle from "Man in the high castle".
amazing 👍 moo 🐮
I wish we can get a little bit of a look from the ground or inside instead of just repetitive drone shots for an entire minute and a half.
cool and good
This looks like the White Castle on my cookie box
OK but no footage of the inside??
I don't think you're allowed to film in there
No photography or videography was allowed when I was there last winter, that's probably why. However, if you are given the opportunity to visit, take it right on! The interior looks superb to me
I've been there!
Great Video !
On my bucket list.
Beautiful
I've been there before actually!!! Went to Germany when I was 13, was so amazing! :)
This is awesome
Yeah Walt Disney has built that castle...😉
Isn't this a reupload?
Is that the castle in the Nurburgring Nordsleife.
Nürburgring Nordschleife* and wtf no ? :D
#Maze95,then where.
@@Wayeseh its in Bayern (bavaria)
Then @maze95 thank you.
Would’ve been nice if we could’ve seen anything else along with those same 5 drone shots
Wish there was a video about Malbork
Unturned Germany map
Stunning, I’m visiting Germany soon I should check it out
And the rest of Fantasyland is inspired by the French Alsace (Beformer German Elsass), especially Keysersberg, Riquehir and also the German Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Quedlinburg and the Northern German Lubeck.
awesome
In my state :D
I have a puzzle with that castle. Its beautiful
What's inside the castle now??
Partecipo da schemische
Re upload?
Schloss Hohenschwangau nearby is actually a LOT nicer to visit.
Its in unturned!!
There is also something like that in Belgium
Nice
I've never been referred to as sleeping beauty before. My God...
re upload?.
Only clicked the video to hear the pronunciation of Schloss Neuschwanstein. It's so bad, very funny pronunciation.

I was there and inside the castle, it is beutiful
Never knew Germany had many castles. .thought it was all about , Hitler and war
It's probably because you're obviously uneducated and dumb
I hope you are joking? Germany has an overwhelming number of castles that are everywhere across the country. And how can a country be about Hitler and war that doesn’t make sense.
*I know where I'm staying for vacation*
You can find this castle in Germany
Ok, that's the last drop
Castle of a fairy tale king! Yes......
I think it's "disney has its own real life Bavarian Castle"
It’s pretty great at Ludwig’s castle tbh.
Yeah, not to sure about the "inspired countless generations" statement...prolly more like 3-4 gen.
This castle builder copied Disney!
It's funny how you put Germany and Disney together so seamlessly.
You should see the efforts the company puts into controlling their customers.
They have managed to fabricate a tasty trade in their theme parks. If one wears a tracking collar, they may cut in line for the rides.
Oh, the temptation!
I visited that
Let's see the INSIDE as well!
I love this castle I drew this in a contest then I won first place.
Who came here because of The Land of Stories: A Grimm Warning?
It was covered in scaffolding when I went.
Belongs to Real European Germans. Seriously and happily.
It's possesed by Bavaria.
Isn't that Hitler's house in the Man in the High Castle?
So... When are we going to get that perfect replication of Castlevania going? Dont tell me we dont have the funds.
For your information Ludwig is pronounced Lood-vig
He might be "insane" by you gotta admit, Ludwig has some style................
I WENT THERE
This castle reminds me of Hogwart
Not even a single shot within the walls? Just some (admittedly decent) aerial footage and a Wikipedia level anecdote? Pretty disappointing
you are not allowed to film or even take pictures inside the castle.
SirHille and yet a quick google search reveals many interior shots
Ok people, don't be so harsh on GBS, this is a re-up story.
He was discovered dead in the near by lake, how he died is still a mystery.
Thought we could see the inside ☹
Bavaria ≠ Germany
But Bavaria is in Germany, deal with it.
wait why ?
@@dozzzor Yeah but cultural wise we are closer to Austria
Bayern Ausland :D
@kristian rikardsen Yes we do, but somehow they are upside down
You've 100% released this video before...
I went there this past summer, saw a chick from North Carolina with two sisters
I will never see that girl again
Now I’m sad
Ludwig was not loved by his people.
NEIN NEIN NEIN NEIN
Disney? ? copyright alert!
The nazis transported a lot of gold there and then it went missing
I don't understand how this is a Great Big Story video if 1.4 million people visit this castle every year. Everybody should know this.

I thought the Disney Castle was Buchenwald...
