The "appeasement ship" has already sailed. It's one of the greatest weaknesses of the West to have the inability to collectively condemn or take any meaningful action against geopolitical aggression. And the Eastern autocracies understand this and have VERY effectively utilized it to their advantage. We truly need to get our act together, because sanctions have become effectively useless in today's global economy (Russia anticipated such and very quickly pivoted to China and India), and harsh rhetoric means absolutely nothing if it isn't followed with appropriate engagement. It is true that democracies are more prone to support peace. But we need to develop a backbone so that history will stop repeating itself.

Well that’s what happened to my country Romania 🇷🇴 after WW2. Russia just basically came and forced its way in and in all of Eastern Europe. They were brutal for the most part. I have family members who personally dealt with the Russian comandants and soldiers. Davai ceas was “give me your watch!” was a popular saying. They came in and took whatever they wanted at will and if you refused or protested they would shoot you then and there. This is all because the Americans, our fellow allies just willingly handed all of Eastern Europe to them. They couldn’t give a care about what happened to us.
Sanctions is working - but slowly and stable!
