  • Lots of new TrixBrix switch tracks! After my last Lego train layout it was obvious I need to get some switches with better geometry then the official Lego ones. After recording this video I found a good design to motorize them, I'll be playing with the design and see what I can do with it. I'll link the article below which includes PDF instructions.

The short wiggly straight is supposed to be for turning a switch into the same shape as a standard LEGO switch. The extra options TrixBrix gives for track is really great.

It’s hard not to go nuts when placing a TrixBrix order.

It's true, I have my largest order to date being delivered today 😂

They have indeed seemingly replaced UPS with FedEx. Makes shipment a bit slower for me, unfortunately.

It's about a week and a half faster for us in the US for delivery, it sucks it came at a cost to other countries

I know right? What a game changer! I won't say how many switches I owned before I noticed 😅, but in my defense they are pretty tough to remove and makes you think it's going to break 😬

What an awesome haul. Trix Brix changed my life, made my layout dreams come true 😂. You definitely got some very useful parts. Lego track only gives us limited geometry.

The only switches I've seen from them are the R104 ones, which are a bit expensive for me. I like that they are injection molded though. I'll have to keep an eye on them and see what comes in the future

Man you went all out! Can't wait to see what you come up with on the layout!

They should of made it so that you can put the motor on either side.

I didn't notice until after recording the video, some switch tracks do have the switching part on the opposite side instead of being on the inside of the curve. They are only available in the packs like the one I got (2 will be on the opposite side) or you can buy just that half of the switch track. Kind of weird, but at least it's only $5 for those halfs

Can I email you? I have just bought some lego trains and train track packs. I want to see if trixbrix is worth it.

My email is listed under the about page. We also have a discord linked in any recent video, some folks in there are knowledgeable than me or have experience I don't

Thanks for the video. I just ordered a double crossover from Aliexpress. It didn't cost that much, so if it works, it works ....

Sure thing! TrixBrix is pretty much the only third party tracks I've tried so far. Let me know how it goes for you!

Nice video! For the railyard bundle, the short wiggly straight is supposed to go between the 1st and 2nd switch. It can also be used to construct the same switch geometry as the LEGO switches when you combine it with one of the half curves.

Thanks! Yeah looking at the thumbnail pic the first and second track are a bit close, that makes sense. I didn't even realize at the time, but two of the switches in that pack have the switcher on the opposite side and they are compatible with the double crossover pieces. Now I'm debating on ordering a gang load of switches like that (left and right) for the whole layout. I was playing with your motorized switch design today and realized I have a few rail cars that will collide with the Technic bits if the switcher is on the inside. At least they only charge ~5$ each for those bits.

@@BatteryPoweredBricks I think my reply was removed because it contained a link, but in my Wiki for brickrail, page 5 you can see some images of how I moved the mechanism away from the track by one stud by raising it by one plate (also blue pins with studs on the bottom + a tile for stability)

Ah I didn't notice that in the pictures. I had that page linked in the description of this video already 😅. I recorded this well before finding your switch design
