Thanks for the comments - if you are painting then I would mask the areas yourself that you don't want to be painted and perhaps put dummy bolts in the threaded areas or mask them too. No need to remove bearings unless they need replacing. If you are powder coating it then everything needs removing as the oven will melt the grease in the bearings and damage the finish
