I was able to use a stubby 18" wrench to reach the top of the rear shock bolts. This comment may help a viewer from having to remove those long rusty bolts that you had trouble removing with your impact wrench.
My front struts started leaking at 75k. Replaced with kyb and they ride like shit, 2 weeks in and i cant take it! So i got some oe mopar ones. Nothing like doing a job twice.
Quick question/observation/comment. I was taught to remove the large axle nut, and tap the axle loose from the bearing. This keeps the possibility low for the axle popping loose from the tranny. Any thoughts? I have done it both ways, but, I have heard this can be an issue with some vehicles...especially the Chrysler.
Is it necessary to replace the shock absorbers in the front axle together even if the other is in good condition? Knowing that the car has covered 100,000 miles
Not a vid on the net is being done right. After you put the van back on the ground you are suppose to torque the top shaft nut to 70 ftlbs. Every strut replacement has to be torques it is not done at the factory. The factory simple tightens it enough to hold it together.
Kinda should like to see how you took out those bolts, especially the sway bar Link as behind of mine are round and can't get a wrench on them, also did you air hammer the bolts out? Like this is kind a useless video dude.
On a Chrysler Town and Country, I personally advise replacing the links if replacing the struts. They wear out quickly, and if over 100,000 miles, might as well do it while you have it apart. They do not cost much.
Can you please do a review on oredy struts. I am thinking of changing the complete shock system on my 2010 caravan. Can you please guide me what all parts should I change.
customer has had no complaints since install - this isn't my vehicle so I can't comment directly. system seems of good quality. amzn.to/2EffBGc amzn.to/2H4e1K4
I am unaware of any T&C with self leveling air suspension.. If that does exist though, I would expect that the shock absorber itself would be the same or similar, and the air spring would just replace the coil spring
@@OvalboreTech My 08 T&C has Nivomat, Monroe makes a replacement for them with new springs for about half the cost. Trying to figure out which way to go.
Typically no. just replacing the struts should not change the caster, camber or toe significantly enough to warrant an alignment. That being said, If it has been a while since the last alignment, it would be a smart move.
The video starts at 6:30 for those looking for replacement.

Good video. Quick struts are where it's at.

Why not replace sway bar end links, as they wear quickly on these vehicles
'if it aint broke, dont fix it'.

The holes on top of the struts don't line up. Did they give me the wrong ones or is there anyway I wan line them up?
My back ones were a bitch to take off specially with the hidden nut thanks for the video

Nice video but you cut some important parts out??? And took forever to actually start
nope, definitely contains all the info you'd need.
What u suggest replacing on a 2013 town and country with 100k on it?????

Where do you place the jack stands and floor jack for proper support?
see owners manual
Is the rear strut basically the same installation ? My only issue is in the rear.
shocks* I do cover that in the video.
@@OvalboreTech so I think I was confused by the spring and air suspension in the rear. Does that need to be changed also with the shock ?

@@OvalboreTech I wish I could post a pic. I am having a hell of a time figuring out what it all is. Can't find any info.

do you happen to have the torque specs handy? thanks!
unfortunately I do not
Wiper arm bolts-12ft lb
Abs sensor clip-12ft lb
Sway bar end links-65ft lb
Lower strut bolts (steering knuckle)- 65ft lb +90° turn
Upper strut bolts- 12ft lb
Will this work for a 2014 Dodge Grand caravan sxt
Yeah, the process should be almost completely identical.
Thank you so much I appreciate you taking the time to answer me back most appreciated
my pleasure
The car you working on did that come with a nivomat rear suspension I do not know what's the difference
Because as I'm looking at the video underneath the Chrysler Town & Country looks identical to my 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan
How are those Oredy shocks?
no frills and functional, much like the caravan.
no audio
sorry my mistake
Does it need a wheel alignment after ??? What do you think
