Good job, bro! Watching the design, it seems like the restriction of the pistons should be sufficient and no artificial angle restrictions is needed. Since by the end of the video it looked like some angles were causing trouble, I was wondering, have you tried to remove all angle restrictions and leave only the max/min length of the pistons?
The assembly wb is still a little crude and get stressed for model of this magnitude, where several parts are moving simultaneously. That's why the final model was kinda rough in movement. I am hoping the wb will be improved in future versions. The angle constraints helps maintain the stability of the model, as only the distance would technically be true on the flip side. I did try removing a few angle constrains; they do have their roles in keeping the model "unbroken".
@@kattkushol Indeed! Managed to finally run RC1 yesterday and attempted something quite similar. The distance constraints work initially, but if you continue the rotation with the cursor, there comes a point at which the distances become valid again, but on the opposite side. The angle constraints are needed, but could probably be more "relaxed" in order to only help prevent flipping the corresponding part entirely.
Nice, might download that and try to assemble it. I used the A2 workbench in freecad 0.20 and 0.21 for very simple assemblies, this looks like a nice improvement. Which CPU do you have btw?
Sir i am using FreeCAD 0.21.2 version but I don't know which workbench can i use to perform like you done on this video, can you please suggest me which one i have to use and how i download
The assembly workbench I am using is only available in FreeCAD's newest 1.0 version. You can download the early release version from freecad's website, scroll down and go to weekly builds. Hope that helps.
I have downloaded this excavator, and tried to do what you did in this video, but nothing seems to move. I have version 38506 so the latest and have the same 'blender' navigation style. Then i built a new project, with a plate with a hole and a pin of the same diameter. Then i made 1 part fixed, and 1 part revolve, but again nothing moves, maybe there is something wrong with my computer.
@@germona Sometimes the software freezes, especially because this is still a developer version. If it happens again, try reopening the file or even restarting the software. Activating the assembly is often the missed step after reopening the file 😂😂
At about 7:15, you are able to move the Long_Boom. For some reason I can't get the boom to move. The Assembly is active (bold). What am I missing? I'm using FreeCAD Version 1.1.0.38728. I downloaded Ondsel 2024.3.0.38705 (dev), loaded the project and had the same problem.
It's tough to say what's going on. you can send the file at the current progress to me via the channel email, I will look into it. But most probably its the software instability, which is expected at this pre-release state.
You will love the TabBar format especially if you have experience with MS Word (who doesn't?). Go to Preference, then select Workbenches from the left panel, all the at the bottom, you will see an option to select "TabBar" under Workbench Selector Type. Press Apply and you are done. By the way, this is only available in the new 0.22/1.0 version.

I hope freecad can do external geometries from other bodies like without sing shape binders. Also they should add intersection external geomtry tool
The way freeCAD is advancing between versions, I am sure it won't take long for these features.
Thank you for posting this video, it was most informative.
thank you

I started over, and now it is moving. Maybe i forgot to make the assembly active, although i thought i had.

@@kattkushol I think I'll wait for the 1.0 release. No point spending time on this until we've got a stable version.
How do you get the workshops in tab form? Nice presentation.
