I’m trying to look at this more as a fireman than a wiring guy… that burn pattern tells me something caught fire in that lower pocket. Hard to tell but it also looks like the fire started on the outside of the panel rather than inside as there’s damage to the outside of the upper door panel but I don’t see a burn hole through the panel from the lower compartment. But I could be wrong it’s hard to see.
Wear gloves, eye protection, and breathing protection. That is definitely some kind of chemical fire, residue could be toxic. I'm guessing a punctured lighter or something flammable being ignited. Looks like it either started by the handle and plopped down into the lower area OR it started in the lower area and the flames ignited the handle area. Definitely something is amiss. Looks very toxic, wear gloves and breathing protection. I used to melt plastics for fun, and nylon clothes ignite VERY FAST. The smoke burn residue kinda remind me of nylon burning. Maybe it was decorative material in the car?

driver might have kept some flammable things in the bottom part of the door then pit a cigarette in there

The new vehicles are real crap. I own a z223 maybach and the battery just went rip just in 2 years. The 12v one. There is too much electronics on it.
