- College Football rankings are everywhere - but the JP Poll is different. On Josh Pate's College Football Show Ep 564 Josh Pate broke down the latest edition of his power ratings with big movement happening. USC continues to fall while Clemson is also moving back up. Will Steve Sarkisian and Texas stay atop the ratings or do we see Ohio State back on top? How did things adjust with Alabama losing to Vandy and Tennessee falling to Arkansas? Where does Miami get slotted? Does Kansas State continue to rise? Oregon and UGA are also near the top. Even though Tennessee and Georgia play against each other week 12 you definitely should choose to come to Arkansas versus Texas for the first official SEC game. What you experienced with Cincinnati is absolutely nothing compared to Texas.
Great to have you at Kyle Field. Hope you enjoyed your time. Always welcome JP!
As an Arkansas fan. I've got to say we love you. And will take you as an Arkansas homer. Who made Arkansas a top 25 team? Nobody... OH wait, Josh did. We love it... put some Arkansas red kool-aid in that chalice.
It’s not a ranking
@@HeartlessWon506 it's as good as the AP to me. Josh actually knows what he's talking about.
It's "who would be favored, not who is better"
SMU somehow would still be an underdog to Louisville.. despite being clearly better.
Arkansas' defense is gelling when they play as a team the hogs are good, they need to learn to support each other and they learned that last weekend. If they keep it up, they will do well.
I recently discovered your show and I love it even if I can't tune in live I can just have this in the background and be entertained as I meal prep for the week. God bless you all ❤
So byu beats both Kansas state and SMU and they’re still behind …. Both of them?
@@tiredcolossus8337well it’s a computer doing the rating
"Keep it up one more time, Colin" doesn't get an immunity??
Don't be scared , put RUTGERS in!!
Josh brought up real question about Miami being 6 in the AP poll just for them to be 7 in the JP. I thought that was funny lol. I don’t love Tennessee, didn’t before this week, but I definitely think the top 5 is solid and it would take Miami not trolling for halves at a time to change that.
Sorry I have to say this but…
If we still had the old conference structure with regionality, we’d never have weekends like next one and oct 19😢
The moving teams around always confused me when an expected result happens like when a team ranked 20 to 25 loses to a top five team and falls from the rankings no matter how close the game was
How do you have SMU in the top 25 who lost to BYU but don’t have BYU in your top 25?
Top five are all solid! Any given Saturday any one of them could win
That explains why your model was screaming that you to choose Arkansas last week lol.
OU at 23 is criminally underrated. Should be more like 12-14. Does the model take into account a QB change?
Josh, love your power rankings and prefer them to the polls. USC and Michigan alum here and I think something must have short circuited in your model.
USC at #14? USC? How can the model predict USC to beat ANY of the teams ranked below them on a neutral field? Has the model watched my Trojans this season? Clearly the model got my Wolverines right, but the Trojans at 14? Really?
You lose all credibility having Iowa in “the model” JP poll.
God Bless this man
Bama being beaten by a 2-2 unranked not good vandy and still being in the top 5 is wild. id have miami would beat bama. cam ward would pick that terrible defense apart.
This year in particular vandy seeks better than usual. Not saying its not embarrassing for bama to have lost. Judt saying vandy is better than people give em credit for this year in particular
Suspicious about Miami after a win and not Tennessee (who is higher) after losing to an unranked team is kinda crazy Josh lol
What makes Indiana come out so low on your ranking system.
Their offense has been doing well, there defense has been doing enough to win the games they have played.
What’s the point spread between the following, according to the JP Poll?
-Ohio State vs Tennessee
-Ohio State vs Miami
-Georgia vs Clemson
Josh you can’t be serious. USC at #12?? They lost to Michigan and Minnesota. What a joke
Oregon #4 was in a dog fight at home to Boise state #25
Question - Why do you call it the JP Poll and not the JP Model or something that wouldn't give a sense of arbitrariness? I understand the difference but it seems you have to call it out quite a bit.
No. No matter what he calls it or how many times he explains, people will still not understand and jump to their own illogical conclusions. Have you never been on social media?
Basically he says no matter how well Indiana plays it literally doesn't matter
I’m gonna b honest, if SMU and Boise played on a neutral field and it opened as a pickem. I’d put my life savings on Ashton Jeanty and the Broncos.
the model favoring OSU over Texas is flat out dumb and wrong. IDGAF what anyone says.
Do you think Colorado beats Kansas state this weekend I think they do fr
Power
Miami is getting better and competing that's all canes fans want
If "getting better" is "nearly got smoked by Cal" then, um... okay.
Just win, Buckeyes!
I'd take PSU over Tennessee
Why is Rice not here??
Bc that’s a side dish not a football team
horrendous ngl
Penn State constantly overrated in the AP.
It's so funny all these pundits are so down on Miami for pulling out actual wins. But gush over Bama and Tennessee who were actually beaten by unranked teams. JP keeps saying he is suspicious about miami, but Bama nothing their fine. Ok. But no bias right?
People are down on Miami because they saw the referees in their last two games turn their loss into a win. Something Miami fans will never see even though it’s right in front of them.
Taking the east and the west out of the SEC was the best thing to ever happen to this sport.
But why male models?
Byu still not being in it suck absolutely worthless
BYU not relevant tbh
@@tonirivers12345good.. I'll keep making money on them. Hope Vegas keeps viewing them like you.
If Ohio State loses to Oregon by 1 in Eugene. 100% Josh will kick Ohio State out of the top 25. Maybe not the top 25 but definitely the top 10. Meanwhile Bama can lose to Vanderbilt and they move back 4 spots 😂😂😂
I honestly hate these kind of ratings. They remind me of people like the playoff committee who have agendas and just want to stick certain teams up high no matter what the on field results are. What actually happens, aka facts, should matter more than those people's biases and perceptions (agendas).
like fsu being snubbed by a saban that says, this teams deserves it, loses first game like to vandy, then says team actually didn't deserve it and quit... -Nick Saban 2024
Basically it's just sec schools no matter how poorly they play.
I highly doubt the data their model uses gives bonus points for certain conferences.
Ohio State will lose this weekend
no
@@jacksonfluger Oregon is super fast man. I think that matchup gives that defense big problems and their offense isn’t anything special. 31- 24 Oregon wins.
@@HeartlessWon506maybe but the model doesn't think so
That would be nice
So well the Longhorns
WTF is this? Has to be miscalculated logic used to come up with this nonsense!
Just a reminder Notre Dame beat A&M
And your point is…..?

We are an elite team when we show up, I am not sure we will show up Saturday though.
ND beat a team with a new HC, OC, o line, secondary, WRs, and a QB that didn't play in a year. If they play today it's a different game and everyone in the country (except ND fans) know this.
@@kevinak-d1xand an injured Conner Weigman
@@RightSaidFredo Yah and we had 6 combined starts on our offensive line TOTAL vs a veteran Defensive line with NFL players. Fact is, no matter who played QB that day ND would have won. They outmatched A&M in the trenches. Deal with it. Still, props to A&M for winning out since then. As a ND fan I'm rooting for them lol.
