washu undergrad here - gonna push back on the mundane thing :) its really possible to leave campus! washU has two metro stops and students get free access to public transpo with a U pass. make any friends with a car here (or get one yourself) and you'll get to explore the magic of St. Louis -- and there is so much to do. amazing botanical gardens, farmers markets, free music and activities - plus washu attempts to transport their students off campus for free for many events. its important to break the washu bubble!!
yea that can be true, especially the last part!
My daughter is a current freshman at WashU. She has made many good friends. I visited last November and from what I've seen most students there are hardworking, goal oriented, and friendly. She told me people do sometimes party, but even those people strive to work hard in classes. For those that want to go to huge stadiums, skip classes, and (just) party. Go to a cheaper State school. Don't go to WashU! If you are looking to get into law, medicine, engineering, or really anything WashU is a good collaborative environment where you will find peers that lift you. My daughter was valedictorian of her high school and was thrilled just to be around so many brilliant people that inspire her daily.
i totally agree!
I just got admitted last week by WashU, thank you for making this video to let me know WashU better. It really helps me.

Hi I’m from St. Louis and I came in as class 2025, but took a break year. My experience with the “in St. Louis for St. Louis” it’s kind of a lie, when i needed help in was passed between the organizations that are meant to offer aid and assistance (HABIF rocks, WashU Cares is okay, Gephardt sucks), just like every other institution. I also encountered a lot of racism which I didn’t expect as I grew up here (I am half black and half Polynesian). It didn’t matter my upbringing, accolades or achievements. I was often isolated and told people “didn’t understand how I talked” despite me being a native English speaker born and raised in the county. One of my WUSA students asked me if I’d seen “anyone get shot” as if it were a joke. I love my school but it breaks my heart what I go through in order to make it through the day. Please understand that WashU is an institution and they make an effort to keep us away from the primarily poor and ethnic community of STL (redlining and gentrification history of St. Louis)
what a nice and organized list
thank u
Great Video! The campus is absolutely beautiful and campus life is pretty awesome as well. The only bad part is St Louis, the city is pretty dead with not a lot to do.
thank you and i totally agree!

How do I get into washu is the real question 😭
loll j do a lot of research on the school and doing ED rly increases your chances if u for sure wanna go
Hi! I was recently admitted to WashU regular decision, and it is one of my top choices. Would you pick WashU over a school like UMich? Did you have a good experience overall?
it really depends on what you like and how you envision your college experience going. washu and umich are 2 very different schools but both great academically. i would say if you want a bigger social scene then you should pick umich but it also depends on your major because washu is good for pre-meds
@@TiffanyBluee thank you for the reply! I intend on going for Political Science and Math and I hope to attend law school after. I like that WashU is a mid-sized school, as I felt UMich was a little big. I don't like going out/partying big-time, but I like going out maybe once every other weekend. Is that uncommon at WashU? Thank you!
@@EwanHargravesin that case i feel like washu is the right choice for you! you can definitely go out once every other weekend
