I'm 54 and my wife and I are VERY worried about our future, gas and food prices rising daily. We have had our savings dwindle with the cost of living into the stratosphere, and we are finding it impossible to replace them. We can get by, but can't seem to get ahead. My condolences to anyone retiring in this crisis, 30 years nonstop just for a crooked system to take all you worked for.

I feel your pain mate, as a fellow retiree, I’d suggest you look into passive index fund investing and learn some more. After a terrible 2022, shell-shocked financial backers have a lot to think about and losses to recover from. An expansion report and a wealth of other data did little to alter assumptions that the Central bank would likely keep raising interest rates regardless of whether the economy slows down. This implies that portfolios will experience more losses during the first quarter of 2023. I'm currently at a crossroads deciding whether to exchange my $250k security/stock portfolio; how might the continuous market volatility work to my advantage?

Managing money is different from accumulating wealth, and the lack of investment education in schools may explain why people struggle to maintain their financial gains. - Do ETFs still give the benefit of dividends of the stocks in the ETF to each shareholder of the ETF?
    - Most of my small nest egg is in 401k, which we are limited on where to invest. The market is at an all time high and economists are saying scary things. Should I redirect my allocations from high growth funds to bonds? ...I know timing the market is tough, but this seems like the time it would be a good decision (also hearing everyone is pulling out for the moment). *the bond funds are tied to US Bonds...not much option and I don't see gold/silver,

Great video, Jaspreet. The only thing I would disagree with is the idea that index funds are for beginners. The vast majority of retail investors regardless of age should be investing in a passively managed S&P 500 index fund with a LOW expense ratio. Statistically, these funds always outperform actively managed funds. Furthermore, the S&P 500 returns more than handpicked portfolios. In the end, even educated people lack the knowledge, instinct, attention, patience, and time to create a handpicked stock portfolio that actually makes money.

Even with my HSA contributions i have been investing thru the SP500 index. Today the stock market have been going up. I thought of being rich but not this rich. 😊

Hey Jaspreet- great video. But I have a question…. Say you invest $100 and after a period of time your index fund portfolio’s unrealised market value becomes $120 (so you’ve made $20). What now? Do you sell the entire portfolio of $120 and re-invest it in the same index fund again and await growth? Or do you leave it to grow and continue buying in? Curious as to what to do with an unrealised growth. Thanks!
