I'm 54 and my wife and I are VERY worried about our future, gas and food prices rising daily. We have had our savings dwindle with the cost of living into the stratosphere, and we are finding it impossible to replace them. We can get by, but can't seem to get ahead. My condolences to anyone retiring in this crisis, 30 years nonstop just for a crooked system to take all you worked for.
I feel your pain mate, as a fellow retiree, I’d suggest you look into passive index fund investing and learn some more. For me, I had my share of ups and downs when I first started looking for a consistent passive income so I hired an expert advisor for aid, and following her advice, I poured $30k in value stocks and digital assets, Up to 200k so far and pretty sure I'm ready for whatever comes.

@@keithjack585 why you don't think so?
After a terrible 2022, shell-shocked financial backers have a lot to think about and losses to recover from. An expansion report and a wealth of other data did little to alter assumptions that the Central bank would likely keep raising interest rates regardless of whether the economy slows down. This implies that portfolios will experience more losses during the first quarter of 2023. I'm currently at a crossroads deciding whether to exchange my $250k security/stock portfolio; how might the continuous market volatility work to my advantage?
Concentrate on two main objectives. First and foremost, keep yourself safe by knowing when to sell stocks to reduce losses and maximize gains. Second, prepare yourself to gain from a market turnaround. I advise you to seek the advice of a representative or financial counselor

Managing money is different from accumulating wealth, and the lack of investment education in schools may explain why people struggle to maintain their financial gains. The examples you provided are relevant, and I personally benefited from the market crisis, as I embrace challenging times while others tend to avoid them. Well, at least my advisor does too, jokingly.
Investors should exercise caution with their exposure and exercise caution when considering new investments, particularly during periods of inflation. It is advisable to seek guidance from a professional or trusted advisor in order to navigate this recession and achieve potential high yields
This is superb! Information, as a noob it gets quite difficult to handle all of this and staying informed is a major cause, how do you go about this are you a pro investor?
Through closely monitoring the performance of my portfolio, I have witnessed a remarkable growth of $483k in just the past two quarters. Great video as always. I’m just going to add to everyone new like myself. Be sure to understand the difference between mutual funds and exchange traded funds, what fractional shares, if the brokerage your considering offers it and if so what requirements you need to do so.
I opened a vanguard brokerage not knowing these things and a lot of times my money just sat there not working because I didn’t have the minimum for their mutual funds and they don’t do fractional for their ETF. M1 finance and fidelity ended up working much better for me.

Do you taken management fee of 0.02% as part into expense ratio? (VOO)
Your better off just using total market index funds rather than specific sectors. It's hard to beat the standard market growth over time. Most hedge fund managers can't beat the market, you're not going to doing it part time.
What is the difference between total market index fund and index fund?
@@incorectulpolitic Total Market Funds are the entire Economy of the nation, in this case it would be the USA. Index funds are a specific sector of the economy, so for example their are Index Funds of the top 500 companies and ones for all of the tech companies ect.
I think the reason they don’t teach this stuff in school is because we would all be retiring by age 30 or sooner lol
This guy has been more valuable to me than a simple YT subscription could ever repay him.
Great video, Jaspreet. The only thing I would disagree with is the idea that index funds are for beginners. The vast majority of retail investors regardless of age should be investing in a passively managed S&P 500 index fund with a LOW expense ratio. Statistically, these funds always outperform actively managed funds. Furthermore, the S&P 500 returns more than handpicked portfolios. In the end, even educated people lack the knowledge, instinct, attention, patience, and time to create a handpicked stock portfolio that actually makes money.
Yep. I learned that in The Lazy Person’s Guide to Investing years ago.
I agree with this. I m 40 years old and i mainly investing in SP500 index fund with the lowest expebse ratio. As of today my 401k balance and roth ira blance jusr reached $732,364.03. Even with my HSA contributions i have been investing thru the SP500 index. Today the stock market have been going up. I thought of being rich but not this rich. 😊

Hey Jaspreet- great video. But I have a question…. Say you invest $100 and after a period of time your index fund portfolio’s unrealised market value becomes $120 (so you’ve made $20). What now? Do you sell the entire portfolio of $120 and re-invest it in the same index fund again and await growth? Or do you leave it to grow and continue buying in? Curious as to what to do with an unrealised growth. Thanks!
Do you sell the entire portfolio of $120
What would be the point?
@@DavidEVogel the point would be…. Do you realise the $20 gain by selling and banking the real value, and then re-investing $120 immediately. Or do you keep your initial investment of $100 and keep buying more (but then living with only theoretical gains)?
