You can tell you are from the city😊. Thats a great road for the mountains. When on a road like that turn your traction control off. Great video enjoyed it very much .Thanks for sharing

I've camped in the Smokey's for over 60 years and Parsons Branch Rd opens every year for a short time for all of that time. first drove it with my parents in the 60's.

Wow, that roads is alot better and wider than it was in the early 1990's. A regular dirt road now, used to be just a pig trail. I know it was closed for a while after a
    hurricane.

Back in mid may i drove my Tacoma off road truck on parsons branch road. It waa a very bumpt drive buy a fun time.
Now that i have my new 2023 chevy colirado trail boss i will go back down to townsend rn in early falk to hike on gregory bald trail and to drive again on parsons branch road. It should be even more beautiful then when the leaves are beginning to change into the beautiful fall colors.

Wife and I rode our Honda Goldwing DCT on Parsons branch road yesterday (9-15-23). Kinda sketchy at times but the Goldwing did great considering. Traction control light flashed a few times but never felt like I was sliding. Can't say I'll do that again on the goldwing but the road is worth taking a trip on.

Oh, yesterday was my wife's birthday and we are currently in Blue ridge, Georgia. I've owned three gold wings in my life and they are fantastic motorcycles but I would not imagine riding it a bet road. You certainly have more cojones than I do so to speak. And I know my wife certainly wouldn't put up with that, especially on that slick spot. Thanks for watching my video. Enjoy your visit in Tennessee.

@@bellybrigade my wife was a trooper made sure I seen sharp rocks sticking out of ground. Was one hell of a back seat spotter. Honestly impressed with how well the wing did. The one section where you're going down a steep grade then make a sharp right turn at the bottom then goes right back up a steep hill is where the wing started to have some issues with traction because of the ruts and loose rocks. The DCT and traction control kept me from spinning out but made the bike a bit jumpy up that hill.

Gave a thumbs up because of the Tennessee Pride comment lmao. I'll have to check that road way on my next trip. I've done tail of the dragon a few times before but Parsons always been closed when I've been out there.

Enjoyed the video! I was trying to hit the brakes when I saw potholes coming. Didn’t want you to tear up your vehicle. Looked like a peaceful drive.

I just watched this vid. I did like the coverage of the road. But man did you beat that $50,000 vehicle up. Here in WV we dodge potholes. Plus I would've driven slower across and enjoyed nore of the scenery. And could've possibly seen more wildlife. It's not about the destination it's about the journey. Have a good one.

Ya’ll. Been on this road over the last many years in a van, SUV, cross over, truck, even our brother in laws KIA sedan. That sedan ride was a little sketchy, but did just fine with everything else. If you’ve no experience with unpaved roads it might be too much for you but it’s really way more fun than it is scary. Great video, really enjoyed it. We’ve not driven this in awhile. As soon as spring breaks it’s just been put at the top of our day trip list.

Well then, looks like when my suv is back on the road I'll be making a road trip. Now, that is a gravel/dirt road. Primitive roads are just 2 tire tracks winding through the mountains 😉. We still have those but watch out for the natives 😂.
Thanks for posting, every time we've ever been that way it's been closed.
If you like to travel those types of roads look into visiting the fire towers scattered throughout East Tennessee. Nice little drives with amazing views.

I'll look into that. This road is open from late April I think until early October. If I remember right.

My question is how do you get stuck on a low water bridge? They're made outta concrete. A primitive road is a two rut dirt road ... not a maintained gravel road.

  • @GlennsHardWired
    @GlennsHardWired Рік тому +1

Awesome video. The hill that you spun on a bit is known to even cause 4wd vehicles trouble. Its especially difficult if your not running AT tires... I drove Parson Branch back in May in a Subaru Outback and made a vid of it..comparing mine to yours...that road has definitely become more treacherous..good luck on your next adventure and I look forward to seeing more vids. 🤘

Try Heintooga round bottom road off of the blue ridge parkway. Makes this road seem like the autobahn.

I used to ride down Parsons branch road back when I was in my twenties. Presently about 60 y.o.. My relatives, the Gregory's, had a family reunion back near the old homestead every year, and that was my shortcut heading back to metro Atlanta. Looks more like a highway now , compared to what it used to look like! Lol.

A few observations. 1-In WV we'd call that road a "smooth as silk back country highway". 2- If you're frying your brakes on the downhill well.....that's why God created a low gear. 3- All those "creeks" towards the end were the same creek just recrossing the road multiple times. But you knew that didn't you? Didn't you? 4- I'd think twice about driving that road during high water periods since it takes surprisingly little moving water to wash a vehicle right down one of those little waterfalls. It would be a good idea to check the local USGS online gauges to see if rivers are running high and, if they are, do something else.

That road has been open for years. I think they had closed the road to repair, so maybe just reopened. We had a bear jump off a bank right in front of our car on this road.
