I could watch you repair Cyber heads all day, that’s not even an exaggeration. Thing is, I watch you making this all look so easy that I think “I could do that” knowing full well that I definitely couldn’t (and absolutely shouldn’t) do that! You’re a wizard!
I know many people dislike this design because it’s got a more “emotional” face but I loved it. Perhaps because it was my Cyberman. I do love the head piece where it has the hologram or prismatic sticker instead of the black bubbled material.
You're referring to the Cyber Leader. I think his head changes slightly through the production and I have a gut feeling that his lamp ends up with the bullet tray insert towards the end. All of them were supposed to have the holographic paper under the tray.
They do look sad. I like that. Most people don’t want to be converted into a Cyberman. Lol. I’m glad they didn’t include the ‘tear drops’ - that addition would have made them look really, really sad. Lol.
Another Cyberhead? Yes, please. Always fun to watch someone else do all that tedious sanding and very satisfying to see those joins and cracks vanish with the final paint. Wish my projects would turn out half as neat and crisp as yours. Lovely!
Cheers. I do find the prep decidedly tedious, but working on the repairs is always fun - especially making troublesome cracks disappear... which is always a nightmare with silver paint. That stuff shows up every fault, no matter how slight!
I'm incredibly biased being an absolute sucker for 80s Who but, the "frowny" Cyberman design is my absolute favourite. This was an *excellent* restoration job!
Glad that you liked the restoration and yeah, these types of Cyberman do have a special place in my fondness as they were the first type that I ever saw.
Great video, I really enjoyed this one. My only non-home-made piece of Dr Who stuff is a "This Planet Earth" version of the same head, except with a solid jaw piece, and this evening you've got me looking at it in a new light! It's taken from the same moulds I believe, but the handles and other parts are not bolted. It has developed some minor cracks over the years, and you have got me toying with the idea of filling these in and doing a respray. :)
You fixed my Invasion Cyberhead a few years back! It still stands proudly on my shelf today. Great to see you're still doing the good work fixing these cyberheads 😁
Great repair! Possibly my favourite Cyberman variant. I can still remember the thrill of their reveal in 'Earthshock'. A real "Bloody hell!" moment. I can remember my late mum (who wasn't really a Doctor Who fan, but watched it, possibly because of Peter Davison), saying: "I wasn't expecting those bastards!" And the Cyberman were creepy again. They had been planning this for possibly years. The fact you could see something behind the mouth panel was actually quite unpleasant. I don't really want to know what is behind that faceplate, thank you very much (yes, I know in reality, it's often David Banks), but in canon, it won't be pleasant. Thank you for sharing. Nice one.
That's an amusing story about your late Mum's reaction, it made me smile. I always felt that David Banks was the quintessential Cyberman, especially with his cyber-clenchy-fist acting. Wonderful! Thanks for tuning in!
As soon as I see one of your videos come up in my feed I am always going to watch it. But an Earthshock Cyberman head...I'm definitely going to watch it. These are my favourite versions of the Cybermen coming in close to the Revenge Of the Cybermen versions. Thanks for a very interesting watch!
The EARTHSHOCK re-design is my favourite. Wish this re-design had flashing lights, in the chest unit, to tie them to the ‘60s Cybermen. The flashing lights would have made them look even more impressive, with the many shots of the Cybermen in the gloomy freighter hold. Never did like the silver-painted ski boots. They look goofy with the Cyberman’s new lanky frame. It was an improvement (imo) when they were swapped out for the silver and grey canvas lace-ups.
I do rather like the Earthshock type, mind you, they were my first exposure to the Cybermen. The moon boots were crap though, I agree -though as you said, at least they swapped them for the snow boots for the next story onwards.
Thanks for watching. As for your warped Cybermelon, if it's that bad, it may be bin material as there's little that can be done about a warped casting like this. If it's not too drastic, you may be able to bodge it into shape with filler.
Great vid I really enjoy the restoration of items like these. I wish a toy company would create some cyberman heads like hasbro does star wars helmets.
Wonderful work as ever! I still think the head and shoulder/chest pieces of this version could work on tv today. The flight suit and moon boots, maybe not so much, but I'm sure they could find a way to update them.
Cheers. You know, I've been thinking the same as I worked on this, and I do think that the costume could quite easily be modernised for the show today too.
As expected, this video was awesome! So much so that I'm going to the shed to dust off my unfinished one and try to complete it! Thanks, as always, for sharing your knowledge and skills with us! I loved the part at the end where you quoted the Cyberleader ;)
You should get yours done, it's been too long - what with you being very busy and all that! Oh yes, my quote at the end there - funny story about that... :)
wow! i can't tell at all it was once broken! fantastic work, as someone who wants dreams of becoming a prop maker your channel really inspires me to make stuff, and gives great advice. thank you!
I have to admit, I was impressed by the fact that you cannot tell that it was once broken, especially the handle bar. I'm also really glad that you've got some inspiration from all this!
another EXCELLENT cyber man Helmet video, but one of my favorite cyberman designs , also Randon sidenote, since you get bbc used props in your collection or ether get to fix for the client. would be amazing if you had to restore a used puppet tripod from the fantastic underrated and sadly cancelled show of bbc's 1980s, the tripods series.
Do you know, I'd love to make a Tripod and one day, I may get to do that. I have had my hands on one of the originals, back in the 1990's and that one was missing it's feet. Anyway, thanks for watching!
@@PBProps omg I'm super jelly, and I've seen someone did a scan of the original prop and did a 3d model you can purchase and 3d print the parts, however it was years ago and I'm not sure it's a 100% legit, but congrats on this video and some issues you faced etc.😁
@@kgmaster9421 That's interesting about the scan, there are three known originals; two large and one small. I don't recall those ever being scanned - but if there's another out there that was, I'd love to get a copy!

Well UA-cam & Googles algorithms and no doubt spyware has landed me on your channel, probably due to an inordinate amount of time recently searching on ebay for Cyberman figures! I must say I've found your video here highly entertaining and insightful. Also brought some 'excellent' memories back of me wearing a Cyberman helmet from The Five Doctors which was on display at Longleat 83' I was 12 at the time and taken along by my brother, whilst in one of the display tents, the curator of costumes at the event was letting people see what it was like to put one of these helmets on, and I can still clearly remember (now aged 53!) the wonderful view out of the mouthpiece! This particular design is one of my all time favorites... Have a like and a subscription from me
I’ve been waiting for this and now it’s here 🎉🎉🎉 These videos are so interesting! Do you by any chance know where people actually get these from in the first place?
Well I hope that it was worth the wait, but thanks for watching. Ebay is generally your best bet for picking these up, though I'm sure you've already thought of that!
Thanks. The part you're missing is a vintage plastic bullet tray - I've seen copies out in the wild, so it may be worth checking eBay for it. Best of luck and thanks for watching!
Off hand, not a clue - it's been a while since I checked, but they can't have been any more than 5mm or 6mm. You could always find a nice photo of the genuine costumes, measure the lamp in the picture, then measure the one you have, divide one by the other to give you the scale ratio, then measure up the holes in the picture and times it by the number you got and that'll give you something to aim at.
I am doing mine so this is perfect, I need to save a lot of money tho and I'm here for this hoping for revenge video It was 7 years until they turned up in 82 and 7 years from invasion to revenge that's not a lot of stories.i did read reason jaw went silver was them spraying over the helmet and covering it

Iconic piece of my childhood right there
These were my first introduction to the Cybermen, I must have been about 7 at the time.
It was for me too. 9 and a half years of age.
Love the way you have " upgraded " the Cyberman..
Thanks - it was an interesting little project!
As David Banks Cyberleader would say Excellent
Yeah, it scrubbed up well.
Watching you restore these cyber-heads always reminds me how weirdly beautiful they all are.
