Most of the grounds are same as they were in 90s. Just that ICC has made a regulation that there should be a min distance between the boundary line and the wall to avoid hurting the fielders.

It is absolutely funny to see players these days amass tons of runs hitting 4s and 6s every other ball with ridiculously smaller boundaries.
Back in the day at grounds like Eden Gardens or MCG best of aggressive batters huffed and puffed to run 4 runs, even after hitting a perfect shot that would eventually slow down reaching the full lengths. Those were the days. Azhar was absolutely thrilling to watch the way he paced his innings and the way he brought aggressive batting into Indian middle order batting. He was the kind of guy who taught other middle order batsmen to score run a ball in those slow scoring days of cricket. One of my all time favorites.
