    Quick bit of advice for anyone making these from the pressure pot from Supercheap auto (where I think this was from).
    You don't need to cut the pipe - The pipe is screwed in quite hard, but if you pop the pipe side into a bench clamp and just turn the lid on it, it will unscrew leaving the perfect opening for what you need.
    The pressure valve in the supercheap one is positioned right where it needs to be. Leave it on. You can see in some of Ben's later videos that he has put a zip cable in to stop it popping too early. There is no need, as you can adjust what pressure the valve pops at. There's a brass circular piece that runs around the centre pin that can accomodate a flat blade screwdriver to be turned.

    NICE!!! I recently got into resin casting and making molds, I am trying to make copies of my action figures for making custom figures. I recently had a lil trouble with getting bubbles in my casts and saw that a pressure pot is bout the best method to get rid of bubbles. LOTS of great info in your video man, thanks!

    Nice one Ben welcome to the big league I have so many tools that I wish I'd gone bigger with from the start so when I got my pressure pot I made sure I went straight to the 40L so I could do the larger castings. The real expenses is the resin though oh well nobody said it would be easy lol

    When making small casts, to reduce the amount of air the compressor needs to add (therefore the time to achieve desired pressure) part fill the vessel with an appropriate amount of water and a spacer - eg inverted flower pot. The water is incompressible.

    • @Mriya6
      @Mriya6 4 місяці тому

      What sort of tiny compressor are you using that that would save any time? From the time he opened the valve to the time he closed it was four seconds, and even if he sped that up by 2x, that's still just eight seconds.

    If you can apply a vacuum for a bit it will draw out a lot of the bubbles, then apply the pressure.
    You can get a cheap "venturi vacuum generator" for about $30 - it's slow to build vacuum, but you can use your compressor to make vacuum, which is pretty cool.
    But I'm sure you know - this will make almost all resins boil. So a deep container for the cast is almost a must. You little ice cube trays probably would have lost 1/4 or more of the resin.

I saw you left the pipe in and only cut it down. I managed to remove it and replaced it with an elbow. This allows the air to be directed out to the edges and down, where with the pipe, it's blowing the air onto the blanks.

      We just got one from supercheap, and it looks like they are using some type of sealant for the screw in parts. I snapped the T piece trying to remove it. I did get it out, but I needed to heat it up with a gas torch. You might be able to heat it up with a paint heat gun, but I'm not sure if that would be hot enough.

      @@BensWorx It's a 1:1 ratio and it isn't having that effect in any of our other molds or work. I'm thinking maybe it is the wrong resin for that shape. If you need to reduce the volume easily, part fill the chamber with water, fit an inverted spacer (inverted flower pot?). This should reduce the time for your compressor to achieve the necessary pressure.

    I am testing out my resin with a pressure pot. Just to get a feel for it I mixed only 1 oz in a cup and brought it to 60psi. How long will that small amount need to stay in the pressure pot. I am shooting for a clear cast because I intentionally mixed it to make bubbles. This is definitely a test just to see if pressure pot can stand up to the claims. I cannot begin a bigger project until I know I can get something clear.

    @1.31 The paint suction tube is actually screwed on. Some large locking pliers, elbow grease and a few curses and you could remove it. Some heat can help loosen the Loctite on the thread. Handy if you ever wanted to use it as a paint sprayer or sell the pot in the future.

      @BensWorx  5 років тому

      Hi Yuwan, Thankyou! I wouldn’t put more than 20psi into the pvc chamber and you definitely need more than 30psi for high detail work, you need to be running at 50-70psi for great results
