Fluorouracil treatment is understated for pain tolerance. If physicians told the truth about what the patient will experience, no one would ever agree to it! I have experienced it several times on my scalp and face. Lesions still return and needed mohs surgery.
Definitely can be misdiagnosed as eczema, 2 drs told me, “it doesn’t look like cancer, it’s probably just eczema”. After a biopsy, it came back as basil cell carcinoma! Im glad I listened to my gut and had it checked out, had I listened to those 2 dr’s I’d still be walking around with it in my scalp, who knows how it would have played out. Drs aren’t always right. I had a full body check this morning and my dr found a pre-cancerous spot that presented as dry skin. This one was froze off. Please anyone reading this, if you have concerns get checked. It’s better to walk around knowing than to walk around in ignorance.

Thank you for taking the time to make this information available. It’s very thoughtful. 😊
Those one's remind me of patch stage Mycosis Fungoides but obviously Mycosis Fungoides is a rare and serious disorder.
On the scalp, could this be mistaken for eczema?
Yes - mine was initially diagnosed as dermatitis, but 2 years later actinic keratosis.
