- North Korea tensions are reaching new heights. The regime test-fired over 70 ballistic missiles in 2022 and at the start of the year, Kim pledged to increase his nuclear arsenal to stifle US and South Korean hostile acts.
Bloomberg Quicktake's Kurumi Mori reports from the front line of the DMZ. a strip of land running across the Korean Peninsula that serves as a buffer zone between the North and the South.
North Korea appears to be staging its first military parade in almost a year, providing leader Kim Jong Un a platform to show off his latest weapons after threatening to exponentially expand his nuclear arms programs.
Illuminated jets flew low over Pyongyang and music could be heard in Kim Il Sung Square in the center of the city in the early hours of Wednesday, suggesting a parade was being held, specialist service NK News reported. But there still uncertainty whether the event took place in the reclusive and secretive country, with the Yonhap News Agency reporting that the South Korean government expects the parade to be held later Wednesday.
Satellite images over the past several weeks have shown parade preparations underway to mark the 75th anniversary of the founding of its army Wednesday. If a parade is held overnight, Kim’s propaganda machine usually edits footage from the event to show on state media several hours later, with outside weapons experts set to examine the images to take stock of his arsenal.

Most North Korean citizens know nothing of the South’s prosperity and, in fact, are brainwashed to believe that they’re much more prosperous.
This report was a waste of time. The producers had nothing to report, so they took the limited access tour at Panmunjom, shot a lot of footage of what normally happens there, put ominous music over it, and talked about NK increasing its nuclear weapons arsenal. Lazy reporting with pictures.

I don’t understand why the powers just don’t handle Kim regime
Of all of the potential leaders behind Kim, Kim is the most Western, the most well educated, and frankly the easiest to read and manage. Even Kim's sister would be much worse than having to continue to deal with him. So taking him out would yield a more dire predicament, assuming it didn't just start an actual war on the peninsula.
The issue we have is that he's being heavily influenced by two things:
1. China and Russia are rattling swords. Russia is in active combat with Ukraine, who is being supported heavily by the West, and doing okay-ish. China has recently said they will be taking Taiwan (back) in the very best future. So North Korea is certainly going to listen to and support this effort.
2. The Western response has been slow and fairly weak. Not only has the West been slow but we've had a lot of trouble showing any sort of unity. Simple decision making has been difficult. Kim certainly sees this as an opportunity that is, at the very least, worth probing/ testing and quite possibly worth exploiting.

Real life lore did a video about that recently it's super interesting. I recommend a watch. I think the biggest reason is that at ANY moment, literally any moment, North Korea has artillery aimed at Seoul, South Korea. In a matter of minutes, the entirety of Seoul can be destroyed with just ground artillery. It's scary to realize that nothing can stop it from killing hundreds of thousands if not millions in under an hour without the use of more sophisticated weapons.
I don't understand why Kim doesn't just take out California. He has the ability to do so, and it would be a gift to the world.
