- Kyrie is expected to be ready for training camp. - Dwight Powell should be a fan favorite in terms of personality and leadership (he is for me), but was asked to be a starter for WAY too long and therefore caused a lot of frustration over many seasons. - Omax is big and intriguing, but still didn't look ready in his second summer league this year. We'll see if Kessler Edwards can somehow push him for garbage-time minutes (or more), as they have some similarities. - AJ Lawson tries hard, but is approaching that "prove it or bounce" moment and will likely not be on the team next season. - Maxi is a very versatile defender/shooter when he's healthy, but unfortunately is hurt a lot. Some fans only remember his bad play after the injury last year, and therefore he's in the doghouse with many. But they forget how big he's been for us at times. - Luka was hurt all playoffs and your insight was all spot on, including your much more measured criticism. This is by far the deepest team he's had so far in the NBA, so we'll see how it goes. Important to note that injuries aside, Kleber suffers a lot defensively if he's the only 5 on the floor. He shined in his role when he was playing alongside Lively. For some reason and for so many seasons, the Mavs always try to force him to play the 5 and it never works. He's a true 2nd string 4. As long coaching doesn't screw things up again, Kleber can be a more serious factor with this reformed roster

One thing very few people outside Dallas are talking about with Lively is how he shot 1-1 on 3s last year and that 1 shot was in the finals. I think that was foreshadowing of what Lively can become offensively. If he can shoot 35% from 3 on 2-3 attempts per game so teams can't just leave him open the Mavs will be impossible to stop offensively. Too much spacing. Too much shooting. Too much Luka.

To be fair about the “in shape” thing, you could be shredded and have the greatest lungs ever and that still wouldnt remedy a thoracic contusion which is what he had in the finals Like he was straight up getting pain killer injections on his chest just so it wouldn’t hurt to inhale and exhale , the fact that he was even running is insane cause ur lung capacity gets absolutely throttled when u have a thoracic injury not to excuse that he played bad or could do better but just pointing out there were def other factors past being in shape that may have contributed to him not hustling

They added Klay Naji & Grimes. All amazing 3poimt shooters and defenders even though klay has slightly digressed but still great roster and one of the deepest bench ITL. Also spence, great ball handler and can create shots and clutch and was a huge part of that 2022 WCF run. Also a 7’5 defensive stopper. They were just a few pieces away from beating Boston and I think they’ll be able to this time with hopefully a HEALTHY Luka and Kyrie getting over the hump. Whoever they met, I think they will beat. They should be the favorites, no doubt💯💯
