"Childhood nightmares"! LOL! That is so funny because I also hated anything cooked like this as a kid. But now, I love it! Yours looks amazing and so similar to the way we make it in Colombia.
Wow, this looks amazing! I think I'll make this for my mother-in-law over the holidays. She cooks us food similar to this and she would get enjoy the Cuban vibe. She's Colombian and has her own variation of this dish. Great recipe as usual!
A very nice cook Julie. as we get older our taste buds change,so I would take this over your childhood pop tarts and lunchables any day, except when I was a kid too.I bbq low and slow as well,it just captures all the flavors making food taste better .this is a must do.thanks for sharing..
I'm Dominican and I also use sour orange my mom taught me that. I love it !!! Just never thought to make it with fresh orange and lime thanks. Looks delicious !!
I followed your recipe just added a touch of cayenne pepper for a slightly kick in process of slow cooking the chit with everything in a pot now can’t wait to try it thank you
It looks grand!! I make chicken fricasse Hungarian style only using paprika and salt and pepper and cream. Finished it has a pink color and served over egg noodles.
Used to get this dish at a Cuban restaurant in Maywood, CA. Since moving to the FL Panhandle with no Cuban eating places in sight, I decided to try making this dish myself recently. It came very well and enjoyed it completely, minus the olives which I left out.
Lovely voice n recipe ! Of all the fricassee I've seen, I find yours has attracted me to try it. Since I've got chicken already on hand, I'm definitely gonna make this for my family's dinner tonight ! just like to add a bit of fresh ginger n tempe (made of soybean) to make it a more flavorful African Indonesian dish. Thanks for sharing !
Just fojnd your channel ! Ive been watching your video for like an hour straight lol Other than your food looking amazing, I love your voice its so soft and soothing I feel like I want you to read me a bed time story lol
Never underestimate the power of the foods you were forced to eat as a kid lol. I've been on kind of a crusade the last couple years to try and recreate some of my grandmother's cooking. (german woman, never wrote down anything.) It never seems to be just right, but your tongue always tells you when you're close. I've come close to quite a few of her recipes, but unfortunately I dont think I'll ever be able to nail her sauerkraut. Oh well, all you can do is keep trying right? Anyway, great recipe, thanks for sharing!
I've heard of this dish before, but never had the opportunity to try it. It looks great though, so I'm definitely going to make this the next time I cook chicken. I always like to try classic dishes, especially when I've never eaten it. lol :)
I fricken love cuban cuisine.....but I like it not as salty as some restaurants prepare them..... btw can you make some "how to" videos like showing how to press garlic, dice onions or opinions on kitchen tools....just a suggestion :)
Im Cuban American and would like to do this fricassee but with duck instead of chicken since I hunt ducks during the hunting season. You think the flavor will be similar? Your voice is soothing. Hope my fricassee taste as soothing as your voice. JeJe.
Julie! Making this in a couple hours but I don't have oranges, if I just use limes is there anything I should add to the recipe to make it taste the same? Thank you so much, hugs and kisses from California
Cookedbyjulie Hehe, today I bought all the ingredients, tomorrow is Cuban chicken on the table for me and my daughters. They are adult, so the wine from recipe is included :)

Oh wow Julie this looks phenomenal! I love slow cooked meat too. Did you add the olives at the very end?
This reminds me of Pollo Guisado from like Puerto Rican & Dominican restaurants. Looks yummy.
That looks great!! I been looking for the look of authentic fricassee de pollo, and this is it! Good Job!
Thanks Aimee :)
I'm going to do it now :)

Hey Julie, can you pleas be specific about the heat of the stove while cooking? When you cover it, do you leave it a medium heat or low?
Well done my darling.
YUM
Looks very similar to Puertorican Fricase de Pollo which we make and looks kind of like a stew. Yum!!
I made this but a little spicier cause I added some crushed cilantro with the garlic and jalapeños and mmmm it was very good ty!
Same here, I hated it as a child... with a passion, in fact I refused to eat it. Now I like it.

Cookedbyjulie i tried to go to the website it doesnt work.
Cookedbyjulie Would it taste that much different without the wine...What can i put in instead of it ???
You can nonalcoholic wine instead. It's not exactly the same, but it works.
400KrispyKremes Thanks! 😉
I hope you see this! When you leave the chicken to cook, what temperature is it on?
Hola me encantaria hacer tu receta pero no entiendo cuales son los sazones en polvo que usas .Saludos
I fricken love cuban cuisine.....but I like it not as salty as some restaurants prepare them.....
btw can you make some "how to" videos like showing how to press garlic, dice onions or opinions on kitchen tools....just a suggestion :)
Your onions are caramelized :) which give this dish much flavor.
🔥 ! 👍

We use Edmundo golden wine
Julie im allergic to oranges .. What do i use instead :(
I like Edmundo golden wine in mine but I hate the plastic bottle. Used to be glass.
The final image shows olives but it wasn't mentioned.
Can you do a video for ropa vieja ?
Wer r u from ?, just love your videos simple and delicious, u have pleasant voice:) thanks for all these amazing recepies
Thanks so much Elena, I'm Cuban :)
Cookedbyjulie thank u!:-)
How do you clean your chicken?
I just remove any excess fat and pat dry it with paper towel. All bacteria gets killed while the chicken cooks.
If i dont have the oranges what can i usse as a substitute
+Barbie O'farrill You can use limes
Is this considered at all healthy?
Ok? Ok.
Great video but if you wrote that down the recipe somewhere in the video that would be perfect
