Join us on an incredible journey into the world of middle school drumline, where passion meets rhythm! 🥁
Director of Mad Beatz Philly, Jesse Mell, felt transitioning to a program coordinator was tough, but stepping back into teaching with friend and fellow educator Dwight Carter reignited that spark! Every Tuesday and Thursday, they were greeted by 27 enthusiastic, hard-working drummers at the Global Leadership Academy Charter School. Thanks to LaKeisha Mackey Dean and the dedicated Mann Center staff, all the logistics - from attendance to caregiver contact and rehearsal space - were seamlessly handled, allowing Dwight and the team to focus on what they love most: TEACHING!
This video is a tribute to the rare and wonderful support educators sometimes receive, making their job not just easier, but truly enjoyable. A huge shoutout to Naomi Gonzalez and The Mann Center for the Performing Arts for sponsoring this dynamic, culturally-centered after-school arts program. Can you believe there are nearly 130 drummers and dancers enrolled in grades 4-8 alone? 🤯
