Petzold's Menuet in G 😉

I guess it depends which Bach I’m speaking about…technically it’s was in Anna Magdalena’s notebook so you could argue it’s her Menuet composed by unknown author (probably Petzold) 😉😉😉 but also, most people know the more famous attribution so honestly that’s why we stuck with the albeit vague Bach

@@TheFlutePractice well technicalllly, it was more uncredited than unknown! 😊. Petzold wrote it in 1720 (for the inauguration of the new Silbermann organ of the Sophienkirche) , whilst AMB's notebook was started in 1725, and I think his authorship has pretty much proven beyond doubt. Of course, you're absolutely right in saying that most people think it's a Bach piece, along with Menuet in Gm (as did I until a few years ago)........but it's still Petzold! (Petzold! Petzold! Petzold! ) 😤🤣

😅😅😅poor guy! But if it wasn’t for the incorrect attribution, it may not have become so famous. I know a huge amount of works actually published under Bach are not his either. It would be an interesting video on its own.

@@TheFlutePractice perhaps someone ought take the most famous ones, and perform 'An evening of not Bach', to right these centuries old wrongs! If it went well, perhaps they could do the same thing with Led Zeppelin 😂 🎶🤔🎵
