Your street shooting videos are great, much more interesting than the typical POV (aka first person shooter) street photography videos that are so popular on UA-cam. I like seeing the complete context of where the photographer is in relation to what he's shooting. I also like hearing what you're thinking about while you're arranging your composition. Nick Turpin's street vids are also good at this. Keep up the great work!
Thank you!! So glad to hear that. I have an awesome partner to work with who actually shoots all this stuff. The unsung hero. Otherwise I would just have to do POV like everyone else. And I do enjoy Nick's videos. They are great!
Good job as always! Feels like a lill holiday photorip every time I am watching your videos!
Can’t wait to come back to Tokyo and finally be together with my wife again ! Stay healthy and thanks for bringing some Japanese streetphoto vibes to us viewers 👍
Thank you very much!! :)
Just what I needed, thanks for the tour and insight into your process. I always keep my GR in my pocket wherever I go, need to take it out more :)
Love seeing these street photos from Tokyo! And thanks for the tips on shooting! 👍🏼
5:15 "The question is, can i find the photo here?" This is beautifully poignant. And a distillation of what we are all trying to do. I love your videos & am learning so much from observing your method. But that line really is the crux of the matter: Can we FIND the photo? Not take the photo or set the photo up, but spend time to dig a little deeper and FIND it. Bravo Sir.
Thank you!! Glad this idea comes across in this little moment. It's about seeing and perceiving. That's how we dig up those beautiful shots! :)
Always enjoyable. Great upload
Thanks!! :)
Love these night videos of Japan so much interesting stuff to shoot. Goes to show how much good stuff you can shoot with just a small camera, Loved the pavement reflections of the neon sign and also the shots looking down at the people below. Wanted you to shoot the glass reflections as the lift went up and down too but you didn't!!!. Great and thanks,.
Thanks! It would be cool to do a live stream with suggestions for shots. :)
Very nice exploring your playlist because you're explaining a lot your settings..Many thanks for the work ! Just one question : At night, are you using the "high weited" setting ( highlights protected) ? and zebras ? don t think so..The why ?
Just go on and many thanks....Bests regards from Colmar, FR / JF
This dude is legit, check out his other videos!
The sad thing with griix when I want to use snap focus at night with f2.8 its still so narrow even at 5m
Hi Lucas i,m not so naïve to think that a camera alone can make you a photographer but i am about to purchase a camera and try to emulate your amazing photography and learn from you. I am in my 60's and have never really done street photography but i am ready now. I am looking at the Ricoh GR3 and the Sony RX1007. They are very different cameras but i am torn between the Ricoh being the camera street photographers love and the Sony that has a very long zoom and versatility for other things which i am used to. I want to print A3 black and white and colour . Look forward to hearing from you.
Hi Robin! I love simplicity in my cameras. This goes for lenses as well, which is why I often like shooting with prime lenses. They do one thing very well and that's it. This constraint cultivates my creativity in many ways. However, zoom lenses offer amazing versatility and they can be treated as a jack of all trades. I would say, if you are just getting into photography in general, a jack of all trades might be better as it allows you to experiment with different styles and subjects, which is an important step in finding those interests that make your vision unique. However, if you are a bit more certain your creative direction, street photography at 28mm, then I would prefer the Ricoh as it has superior ergonomics and allows for a more mindful and meditative shooting style. It simply gets out of your way, which is why I love it! :)
Hi Lukasz, love your vidoes. Two questions, are these images straight out of camera and is the your Ricoh GRii the 16mp version?
These were all shot with the Ricoh GR II, 16mp. I shoot in raw and edit in post. I do not edit very heavily, but they are not straight from the camera.
Hmmm 🤔. I wonder what that the fade cut at 16:45 was?? The fact that you just walked passed a really cool looking bicycle I'm sure had nothing to do with it 😉
Hahaha, you know me well!!! Actually, I would have kept that, but then right at that moment we also ran into a friend of mine and we chatted about nothing in particular for a few minutes.
Been thinking of getting a GR- I'm a semi-pro that uses a 5D or 5D Mk III with a 50 or an 85 for street photography. They're a touch bulky, and I like how you can just put this one anywhere for your shot.
Thanks for the video.
..Joe
Thanks! That's what I love about it, too! :)
Great video, thank you !
Glad you liked it!
Hello, what focus mode do you use for your slower shutter speed motion blur shots ?
when the train started moving I said the same thing.
What settings do you use for noise reduction? Thank you for your video!
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it
Are these straight out of camera?
Very interesting video, but what on earth did you film it on, it's horrendous
A phone, I know it sucks! But we got a new camera for video so future vlogs will be muuuuuch higher quality!!!
@@EYExplore excited to see the new stuff!
🤕 sorry but can i ask where can i clean my GR sensor, i am in Tokyo also. Thanks and good video as always.

Funny I just finished watching someone else’s video explaining the changes of that neighborhood 🤯
It has changed soooo much!
Kids walking around after dark unattended.
This confuses the American.
