A Hat in Time BETA - Queen Vanessa's Manor - w/ Cut Content (The 3rd Floor)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 7 вер 2024
- As you can see the 3rd floor at 5:00 was cut from the final version,
Other change: In the final version of the game there isn't any "mask" section in the inventory and you get a time piece from the chest instead of the mask
The mask is still in the final game but it is used as a hat and instead of always being activated when wearing you need to activate it (it last 3 seconds before having a cooldown)
Act 2-4 of Subcon Forest
Honestly, if I was Hat Kid, I would just take the cookies and leave.

something did get cut
TheGraveyarder well I'm glad. Any part of the stage scares the carp outta me
I mean its not real so it shouldn't be scary if you get scared because if a game and you feel like something gonna pop out at you just say it cant hurt me if it's not real unless its a mental hurt in which case get a physiatrist

One of the devs told me they wanted to redesign the third floor's section but didn't have time
FlameLFH I heard there doing DLCs. Hopefully this Level is one of them.
ah this makes sense. i do hope they are able to release an updated version of this floor that they can be happy with as an official mod or something. The manor is awesome but felt a little short, i can see why they'd be unhappy with this segment as it is currently, but it just looks really cool and i'd love to see it in the game lol
Hi flame
+Lisa Barnes You heard it wrong.
+LockPic Then where's the proof about that? Clearly on Shesez channel, uploader gave accurate infos about why it won't happen.
Hmm, so based on Dev comments and other details dug up it looks like the Subcon forest was supposed to be in a turf war between Snatcher, Moonjumper, and Queen Vanessa with each one wanting to own the whole thing.
Moonjumper was also supposed to be the Prince after his imprisonment but due to issues with flow he was eventually cut from the finished product. While his design was cool and the concept was solid the third floor just didn't flow right and while the Devs tried to rework it before release the time just wasn't there. With the setup as it was it just made more sense to cut out one of the three and Moonjumper was least developed at that point.
As a result the Snatcher's role was expanded as the defacto ruler of Subcon forest and the former prince, while Queen Vanessa had her own little private place that nobody else was brave or crazy enough to visit. But her effect on the forest is far great as she is the apparent source of messed up magic that has the entire place haunted.
6611nitro Sounds about right. Thanks for the info!
the moonjumper was actually cut pretty early on from what I gathered.
Turf war.
*SPLATATATATATATA-*
Sooo Chapter Two then.
Yea and thank god he was this story is very interesting and snatcher and vanessa had a thing and basically doing the same thing in there after life or something WOW i hope they make more content of the tale of queen vanessa and ween i see this level i feel that i need to turn the lights on. And some thing holy by my side
I think the third floor should've been kept, but remove Snatcher, and Vanessa comes in immediately after you do, and she actively chases you at a speed only slightly slower than you until you can enter & exit a room quickly enough to where Vanessa doesn't see which door you exited through. It's timed so she's RIGHT on your ass at the beginning and a player without prior knowledge of the level would be shitting themselves and going for the first door that they see. Vanessa also gains new, scarier voice lines to indicate that she knows exactly where you are and is coming for you. Only when you shake Vanessa off your tail can you do the floor's puzzle... and you _better_ not let her see you again.
Now THAT would be great. A great climax to an already tense-as-fuck chapter.
And it's already discouraged me enough from playing that chapter
imo the puzzle looks really tedious to play. you have to time the light switches to turn on exactly when the snatcher clone comes by, and it looks like if you miss the timing, (I assume) you would have to wait for the snatcher clone to walk through the rooms once over again to get the key. the light switch puzzle would have slowed the pace of the game down to a crawl which isn't something I'd want to have in the tense horror mansion level. (Imagine waiting like ~20 seconds everytime you miss the light switch on the snatcher)
I do agree with you that the level could have been reworked without the puzzle part though, the floor is pretty interesting.
oyah they probably would have to remove the Snatcher clone because his rework would remove Snatcher.
and then you deliver some mail
fun times
I just had a nightmare about her where she just kinda grabbed me from under the piano, either that or she flipped the piano over. It sure was terrifying though .v,
Yeah, I can sort of understand why they would cut this. It looks like chasing the Snatcher around is too frustrating and just takes too long, which kills the creepy mood.
To be fair, the third floor doesn't fit the theme of the level.
It went from a stealth mission about choosing hiding spots and gathering pieces that will unlock more pieces to a cat and mouse game hunting a shadow. The dynamic completely shifts, and The Queen doesn't become a threat on the third floor until you have already obtained the objective. I appreciate it, and seeing Snatcher in the mansion was awesome, but it would have definitely felt out of place.
Thats the entire reason it got cut.
TanookiCom I was told this was the floor where you really witness the queen’s descent into madness. I must have heard wrong.
Apparently they where gonna change the puzzle again as a Screenshot exists, showing a bunch of red glowing eyes on the third floor coloring it violently red, however it's unknown what said puzzle would have done
I think that the devs tried to work in a bit of variation to the level and realized that they went too far, then tried to change it but ran out of time. Shame. It fits with Snatchers character but was a little bit too extreme. It would have been cool to see how the story changed if they just had a bit more time to fix it. Snatcher probably wouldn't have been the final boss and it might have been a mixture of all three. (Snatcher, Moonjumper, Queen Vanessa.) I always felt than Queen Vanessa was out of place and this confirmed my suspicions. She was meant to be more, but was left in due to issues with timing.

Why the fricc are there so many frozen Conductors in the manor
Because he makes a really n-ice piece of furnishing!
Because the Conductor is special.
There used to be more than one conductor in the beta and no DJ Grooves at all

They would be placeholders. Now some scrapped characters take the place of the many conductora in the manor.

HK: Holds blue potion.
Snatcher: Uhh, let's talk about this...
I mean, it’d just hit the wall so…
man, if queen venessa could be abled to enter rooms more than twice, this would be quite the different situation
I do not mean to complain, but I kinda liked Snatcher's old 2d design.
After all he's a shadow...
Yes I find it cool, too!
He seemed more expressive.
I found it so cool too! I wish they kept it, but the 3D design is still amazing.
The thing is how would you fight a 2d snatcher? It would have been a very different fight from the one we know and love.

Honestly I really like the idea of Snatcher appearing as kind of a shadow projected on the walls tbh. It's cool
I love the idea of a hall that's blocked because a phantom is imitating your movements so perfectly that you can't get through but I think having it be the snatcher is a terrible idea.
If they'd had it just be a phantom imitating your movements & nothing more, they could've changed the lever puzzle to involve turning off lights to give yourself a dark path to go through because shadows can't exist in total darkness.
As a result, you could've been forced to make an entire area super dark so you'd have to sneak past Vanessa in advanced darkness in the kind of room that's basically multiple rooms in one so there are no doors. Only doorless doorways & archways & such so you'd have to be more clever about hiding when Vanessa notices you.
But, when you get the final key, the lights come back on so Vanessa sees the phantom. So she knows exactly where you are & your only hope is to run for the exit.

Depending on how hard mods are to make, I will make this.
+Zaxton Hong I don't know how hard modding is but I've heard Vanessa's really hard to work with when modding because she was only designed for the context in which she was used. Maybe, it'll get easier when the modding tools improve though.
Regardless, some other people & I talked about Vanessa idea at the link below.

Heh the floor is actually still in the game if you noclip out of bounds. there was an easter egg left up there too.

How do you no clip?
type "enablecheats" and then "ghost" in the console
oh, thanks! How did you figure that out?
I liked when it was like:
"Its time to use the key!"
*Opens door*
Vanessa:
*closes door*
" *Okay I will use the key later* "
Hmm. I can kinda see why it was cut, or at least, why one'd feel it uneeded. The first two floors are great in just being a tense "try to find the key and get out before she catches you". Having an entire "catch this guy while she keeps repeating lines but doesn't appear" segment in the middle feels it would just bloat it.
That said, remove that and have the third floor just be "try to find the key while she chases you AND it's all dark" from the start would probably have worked instead.
@Papadripopoulos - "Catch this guy while she keeps repeating lines but doesn't appear".
Um, she does appear on the third floor. After you catch the guy, you find out Vanessa's followed you upstairs, and then you have to make a run for it because she's right around the corner and stalking you through the rooms.
That's my point though, she only appears after you've caught the key. It's a distraction.

My guess why this floor was is that they Dropped the Moon Jumper concept when they couldn't fit him in with the flow smoothly
The floor actually remained used untill shortly before the release and there even was gonna be a new puzzle of some sort
The Tale of Queen Vanessa. Once upon a time, there was a princess and a prince who're in love. But one day, while taking a stroll around town, Vanessa finds the prince holding hands with another girl, and she did not take it lightly. Heartbroken, Vanessa assumed that the prince broke up with her, and stormed out of the town crying, unaware that the prince was actually buying flowers for Vanessa from the girl. When he arrives back, he tries to give the flowers to her and explain the situation, but Vanessa was too heartbroken to listen, and her anger and jealousy transformed her into a terrifying shadow monster. The prince was then locked up in the basement, and overcome with grief, he would eventually transform into the Snatcher.

Queen Vanessa: where did she go?
I mean, at least they put the model of Snatcher to use.
???
Snatcher was never unused.
He means the 2d one
My biggest take-away from this is that it looks as though the dweller's mask used to not be a "here, have half a second to do things that take several seconds" deal.
If you time it well, using the badge that reduces mask cooldowns you can actually use the Dweller Mask indefinitely (at least in the game as it is as of this post). If you jump just before it wears off you can stall for enough time with just a double-jump in place for the reduced cooldown to come back up before you land. You just gotta learn the timing for how long it lasts so you can be sure to time the jump right as it wears off.
I can see why they removed the final floor, it did go on a little long. And in the final game, it would be in addition to the path leading to the mansion. Neat ideas, but ultimately no place for them.
Also- oh no she got the Conductor. That's unfortunate. Also makes me wonder what his role in the beta would've been.

Imagine a sort of boss fight type thing where you almost get the time piece and then Vanessa comes in and shakes you down. You jump from the window and you land outside but the mansion has expanded. And all of the ice statues come to life with the same effects as Vanessa but with there own voice (with same voice effects as Vanessa and same personality too. Just you know more scary) and you have to get threw the entire mansion again just bigger and scarier with more treats galore. I would LOVE that.
Dominic Coccia honestly sounds outta place. The frozen characters you see in her manor were originally gonna be characters that’d actually interact with you but were cut out. And it really would take out the whole “horror-ish hiding-from-a-hunter-level” to an anticlimactic chase or whatever you wanted to describe. I personally just don’t think it’d fit in.

Nothing competes with the fear of dying 5 minutes into Quality Time With Snatcher
Man. That third floor section actually looks scary
Though I can see why they wanted to change it. The whole chasing around the key is too bothersome
Too bad they couldn't change it in time
Did you know that the third floor was cut because it was deemed 'not fun' by the developers?
I think Snatcher's shadow concept would've been really cool, same with Moonjumper and being stuck in the horizon. Sadly I think they scrapped them since they had to remove the 3rd floor so Snatcher became the Prince instead of the Moonjumper :/
Its an interesting idea but im glad it was cut. It looks tedious and its not entirely clear what you have to do to the snatcher copy when he nabs the key. I thought you'd have to get him once with each light trap but you could just use the same one three times. Still, wouldve loved a revamp or redesign. Wouldve been interesting to see how the snatcher reacts when Vanessa catches him in the same room if that was possible.
Also as a side note the story of these two is pretty damn sad. I didnt realise first time through the game that the prince was buying flowers and not holding another girls hands.
And as a final note, who was the moonjumper? Anybody know?
I feel like this theme could have been used to defeat Vanessa. Lure her into the light and she gets way weaker, lure her again, then maybe she starts running away from you, and finally push her into a final light beam and she agrees to let you in the attic (or Snatcher comes in and takes her out). Heck, turn her into Jalhalla and make a boss out of it!
The moonjumper was the prince in the beta build, but they couldn't fit him into the final game. To fix the plot hole they shifted it to make snatcher the prince. Apparently the original story for this chapter was snatcher, moonjumper, and venessa all fighting to control subcon forest.
He was a cut character. As you probably know from watching this, he was supposed to be the former prince.

I'm hoping in the DLC that you revisit Subcon Forest and the manor, with the third floor there.
Sorry to break your hopes but that won't happen. They explained it why it was removed on Shesez channel.
Yeah I kinda realized that the moment I knew that the DLC worlds were already planned, but hey, mods are a thing.
Not always mod can fix what's broken.
It seems to be very challenging aka frustrating so that's why they did cut it out. For some reason i don't understand that point because games like Mario and Crash Bandicoot were frustrating challenging. Like time trials and no deaths.
The devs stated that they wanted modders to have free reign over their game, so it's likely the third floor will at least be added to the manor by modders. Plus the third floor already exists.
You're arguing over why modders shouldn't add that, though some might enjoy that frustration. Choice is always better than no choice.
The third floor exists, but the game is programmed to send the player to the attic instead of the third floor. If you mod the game, you can restore it.
I feel like if you cut out the pursuit part of the 3rd floor (just turn on the light in the main hall, which prompts an edited version of the Snatcher dialogue, but turning on the light also summons Vanessa, so now you have to find the key while she pursues you), it would work in the released game, but oh well. As it was, the third floor was a bit bloated, but I feel like it's by far the most discomforting part of the Manor, at the same time, and it's a shame it wasn't in the released version.

THAT'S EVEN WORSE VANESSA YOU CREEP
But still, it makes me wonder why Hat kid's picture is even there.
+ Drink Bleach Right? And did you ever notice Vanessa knows the intruder is a child? You can tell from her dialogue with phrases like little one & all that talk of cookies & Hide & Seek.
Maybe this isn't Hat Kid's first visit to the manor? I mean, the whole game, she's trying to RETURN home from somewhere. Surely, she would have passed close to that same solar system on the way TO that somewhere. Maybe it was a different time of day the first time, so she didn't pass over Mafia Town. I think Hat Kid may have somehow been part of the cause for Vanessa's "Prince" leaving her. Perhaps Hat Kid went on an adventure before A Hat in Time, and inadvertently caused the separation as part of a sidequest or something.
Hopefully through modding we can see this floor again

I really like the idea of getting the mask from the attic, and the way it works.
I love how the dweller mask is in this one
Apparently the third floor was cut because the developers didn’t like how the puzzle worked on it, and they didn’t have enough time to change it. So they just cut it entirely. Shadow kid is a playable character now thanks to the Seal The Deal dlc :D
Oh I always wondered why it felt short whenever I played Queen Venessa’s Manor (my favourite btw) I always had a feeling that something was Missing I’m sure the Third Floor held so much more info about Venessa and her prince(who I’m assuming is Snatcher)
I saw one of your now deleted comment about the beta, every pre-orders had access to it actually! They gave us Beta Steam keys but sadly we can't replay it now since the Beta became the Full Game
Anyone know why the floor got cut? I didn't even know it did, but the level FELT like it was missing something, which you NEVER want to have happen with cut content, especially when it's already built.
because nobody seemed to enjoy the puzzle sadly
My guess? Apart from the whole "this didn't seem to fit with the rest of the level" angle mentioned elsewhere, the story of that world had changed to the point where Snatcher antagonizing you no longer made any sense. After all, the reason you're there now is because he CONTRACTED you to investigate the place. That means they'd need to rework the entire premise just to approximate the old level.
ShadwSonic The floor is still in the game and it almost have everything from the beta still, with a few things missing. They could’ve revamped the puzzle or reuse the floor but they decided to scrap it entirely along the moon jumper
They changed alot in the final game... Besides the removal of the 3rd floor they also changed how you get hats and how the dwellers mask works
Snatcher once you have already met him and fallen into his trap the second time he seams very calm
Mario 64 to Luigi's Mansion??
And I'll admit, this section actually scared me the first time I saw it...
Apparently in one of the alpha builds there is an actual room behind the forbid door. That looks 👹 and has a giant distorted Moonjumper mask (distorted as in looks 👹) painted on the floor.
If you know anything about the lore when Moonjumper was in the game. Then the lore was that the Moonjumper was Vanessa's imaginary friend (or so she thought) and he's the one who drove Vanessa into believing the Prince was cheating on her.
Which she believed. Then as the Prince was locked away she became reliant on Moonjumper and he used her trust to trick her into performing a ritual that was suppose to give him control of the Prince's body by telling her it was a love spell and Vanessa being a shut in most of her life had no reason to doubt her "friend."
However the ritual failed and the Prince managed to remain in his body which caused it to transform into the shape and form of the character we know as the Moonjumper a state representing the two souls in one body who are constantly fighting one another. The Prince who wants to be free and have peace; and the Moonjumper a chaotic entity who only wants chaos as his years of solitude before meeting Vanessa and after Vanessa met the Prince drove him insane.
This is why the turf description says the Moonjumper is "sometimes an ally and sometimes foe.
When Prince is in control = ally
When Moonjumper in control = chaotic foe.
The painting in that room on the floor would essentially be a depiction of the true Moonjumper's real face. This room would have you drop a ladder to the attic which would look the room that contains the final games telescope that leads to main campaign's final level. (Meaning that room is actually the manors original true attic and it tracks as it shares the same floor textures and wall textures as the forbidden ritual room and the third floor's hallway.
My theory is that the turf war had three choices. The first three were to choose either of the three factions sides. However, the secret fourth option would be picking no side and instead looking for answers which would lead to the manor and upon finding answers you could choose to save the prince. As the chest in the original attic was suppose to have the hourglass and a book detailing the story of the Prince/Moonjumper. This also tracks with the turf war saying you could pick no side as well.
My guess as to how he got saved is that Hat Kid would vist the fox mask wearer and ask it for help to reach the moon which is would tell them to climb the moon tower in the center of the forest.
[There's a glitch you can do in final game subcon to reach the manor earlier by carrying one of the fruits that launches you into stratosphere. Which allow you to see this tower in the middle of the forest. You can also see the portion of forest beyond the barrier near the Moonjumper area which literally has the beta Subcon forest and a green tower. Which is probably the Prince's tower. However the moonview tower literally reaches to the moon and is the tallest object]
Upon reaching the top of the magical moonview tower she would be let onto the moon by the Moonjumper and we would have to fight him until Hat Kid decides to break a time piece which would cause reality to crack amd split the Prince and Moonjumper apart into two separate bodies and Hat Kid would be caught the reality ripple being sent to the future at the edge of time. Until the man she's sings about. The Prince comes and finds her. Returning her umbrella and together with him as a tie to reality they both return to where they should be before Tim would chew them out. Before ultimately forgiving her on the grounds that she was trying to do the right thing.
Then we would unlock dead bird studios where we would eventually meet the shape shifter [was recycled into the badge seller in the final game] on the owl express who was created as a result of Hat Kid breaking an hourglass and was also Hat Kid's Shadow who got left behind when she was sent to the edge of time and crossed into her future body temporarily.
The ☠️ would have been real this time and upon solving the mystery the train would get caught in a temporal distortion with rooms leading to places they shouldn't like areas from the characters past like a home which containing one of the hourglasses where the shapshifter ran to or to the future in another reality where the express was a scientific facility and with each hourglass collected the train would become less distored until they reached the front of the train and fixed the broken hourglass that Hat Kid which had warped through time to the train thus fixing reality.
However tge hourglasses got spread through time which would cause Hat Kid and the Prince to start time traveling and in one of there travels the Prince would cross his shadow [The Snatcher's] timeline and have to leave it behind in order to ensure he ends up meeting him and the events that occurred in the forest happen as they should.
(The snatchers lore was originally that he was one of the shadows just like the shapshifter who was left behind by a timetraveler who went to a place they shouldn't have hence why he originally acted like a shadow. As unlike the shapshifter he refused to ☠️ and take another person's form.)
I imagine that eventually you'd go back to the forest after collecting all the time scattered hourglasses and ☠️ the Moonjumper as the Prince whome would rejoin with the Snatcher if you saved him breaking the curse unfreezing the forest, and returning Vanessa to normal which were all things the Moonjumper had caused.
This would allow the forest to return to how it was before the ritual with the souls being returned to their bodies and the Prince finally getting a happy ending ultimately parting ways with Hat Kid.
Fact if you slow down Vanessa‘s voice lines when she chases you she would sound like a race car!
5:12 what the-? I don’t remember this! This wasn’t here!
I like how the mask use to just jump onto your face instead of you creating it.
She's still terrifying!
I get that when Vanessa gets you you turn to ice
But how is the conductor iced twice? On the main floor and on the second floor iced?
Totally not Spookwagen Maybe they are the Conductor’s (grand)kids?
And also, How is Conductor even iced? Like, why would he even visit the Manor? He also appears on the end Of the game again, maybe Conductor have other brothers that falled in Snatcher's trap like Hat Kid and failed in Queen Vanessa part?
I Am Pretty Sure He Is A Place Holder
He was use as a placeholder model
I Can Awnser That.
Because A Hat In Time.
If the camera is behind the wall in the attic, you can use the camera badge to see the third floor and almost of its assets.
I wish they'd kept MoonJumper and the whole turf war concept for Subcon. While Snatcher could still be the big final boss, you could basically be his ace-in-the-hole. He uses you to get the Time Pieces from MoonJumper and Vanessa, then plans to make it so that they never had any power over the forest in the first place like with Conductor/DJ Grooves in Chapter 2. Then his fight is you going in and taking back all of the Time Pieces he stole.
Imagine bringing a fire spirit for it to attack Snatcher for you lol
I really like this version better than the final version we got tbh...
Dude I have insane anxiety and I'm not scared of this.
I think my anxiety gives me some advantages.
To me is inverse,I would feel scared and trying to find the solutions of that level, that's why I watch the gameplay and then start the job,so I certificate myself there's nothing like those Pizza Time animatronics(jumpscares and scream showing the enemy face loud and clear)
I understand why the third floor and moon jumper were cut, but now it doesn't make much sense why the snatcher would send hat kid there. I guess maybe to mess with Vanessa since they're now enemies?
Kinda glad they changed her walking animation.
i would love this game even more if this section was included
DUDE WHEN HE STOLE THE KEY AND TOOK YOUR FORM I STARTED SQUEELING HE’S SO T I N Y
rest in piece coductor 4:26
2:07: Hat kid: *goes into the room*
*intense music starts playing*
Hat Kid: nope im not going in there
I guess they cut it because they thought: “eh, they probably are already scared enough, let’s end it early for them! Because we’re not assholes”
I really want this in the game!
Oh my goodness snatcher was in it?!
i think the heavily guarded door was where she kept the prince
1:38 it would be impossible for me to survive that level with that noise, since those noises make me feel distressed and more scared than i should be, though just hearing it from a video isn't as scary.
Put some LiveSplit window and you'll be not scared
I can’t believe you played my favorite game
I love the Dweller's mask. It can help you do anything that can be done by a bell if there is no bell.
If they kept the floor but made into a chase segment away from Vanessa it would be pretty cool, maybe with her locking the door behind you so you have to find a way out as she intentionally traps you in
It would also make you plan on how you would move around the floor, once you learn the rooms, so you can get the key on time and leave
If I was in this situation I sound grab the key and just run like a maniac to collect the key while also being as quiet as possible, oh wait, I just remembered what the minion said as soon as you go into the manor
Now It just seems short and almost unfinished. Maybe because I'm so used to the old variant?... Also, where is the Moon Jumper? I'm guessing they cut him (it?) as well.
It seems like it sadly also his theme was remixed and is now used for "The Badge Seller"
I think it's now implied that the Snatcher used to be the prince instead which honestly makes a LOT more sense
I don't want to spoil anything, but the Subcon time rift might confirm your suspicion.
i've already finished the game, and the photos at the end of the purple rift are what i'm referring to
yeah. if you do a bit of stretching and exaggeration (mostly on the face) for the final pic of the chained prince, then i could see where the snatcher's design came from. plus the prince was studying law, so that could explain his fixation on contracts. and clauses.
I just wish they kept the 3rd floor, Moon Jumper, Hat Teen, the unused song in the game😢
Honestly I would have been fine waiting a little longer for the devs to finish the 3rd floor
Huh, no chains in the basement. Guess they hadn't worked out all the lore yet. Though I'm glad Vanessa was never given object-permanence, this act was scarier than some big budget AAA horror games, so having to actually lure and run from her instead of just figuring out her patterns would have been a nightmare.
Can see why this is scary but I think it's cus of the loud sound that arises that makes it scary
If it weren’t for that shortcut to the attic I would never have beaten this act
Me:I’m brave
Queen vanissa: **this video**
Me: *NOT A BRAVE KID FOR THIS!!*
Rip Mafia In Closet
it was very sad
I bet you can't sleep after seeing Queen Vanessa.
UA-cam put this video on my home page just now, and there must a lot of mods that you can see the game's cut content
1:56
"HELP ME LASSIE YA PECK NECK!"
A lil Snatcher version of hat kid! Cute!
Beta loading screen looks so nice tbh.
Jeez, this was originally in the game? Kids would crap themselves even more if they kept the third floor.
