Thanks for the help! I cleaned some of my local clay (Indiana), made it into a pot, and...it cracked. After a little research, I found out I needed some temper. How much? That's where you came in. Thanks again.
+Maw Greenjeenz awesome!! have you tried firing it yet? if so, how did it go? theres so many different reasons a pot can crack during firing, temper is only one of them. but its a fun process perfecting it anyway
+Maw Greenjeenz haha yeh that logic make sense. well good luck with it! let me know how it goes. and just fyi, i released a video last week on molding clay and making pots
Thanks I got mondo depression and have been going out to collect minerals, just started collecting clay and separating minerals from it. Thank you for helping me with separating ideas,.
Yo bro! I love these videos. So interesting. I prob won’t mess around with it. I have a million other hobbies but it’s so interesting to me. Love it. Thanks for sharing and I enjoyed the edit.
I lost my temper with my temper. Heat treated sandstone to crumble. It was too round and I added too much and then too little. I filled the cracks with birch tar. Lol...... the pot then became a none returning boomerang.
Not organic, but Inorganic. Grasses are organic, since they have a carbon-hydrogen bond. However seashells and sand are silica dioxide, not containing that compound structure.
Thank you very much for sharing!!!
Thank you for sharing. I like how you make your videos.

No, I haven't finished my kiln yet, which I figure is fine, since I still have to learn how to make pots.

Thanks for sharing. Do you have any information on the proper brick temper? maybe a rule of thumb?
Is that 20% temper by weight or volume?
Volume. Loosely 20%
