I just laugh at the fact he thought a dirt road was off road. That jeep needs to truly be taken to a more suitable location if you want to test off road. A dirt road even a car can do.
Great job with your brief, under ten minute review of the new Jeep JL Wrangler diesel Rubicon. I had a rental JL Rubicon (available from Alamo) in the same color as the one in your video this past December while visiting Oahu. My wife and I have a JK Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon here on Molokai where we live. My Rubicon will be eight years old this April. It has been completely reliable except for a replacement navigation system that was done under warranty. Will I buy another Wrangler? Absolutely! My next one will be a JL---and probably with the diesel in it if my wife can be assured it won't need frequent trips to a Jeep dealership because of a clogged emission's particulate filter (which happened with her 2014 Grand Cherokee Overland diesel we sold prior to moving to Molokai last March). Excellent video! Very well done. Thank you very much. Andy McKane, Maunaloa, Molokai, Hawaii.
Price tag as shown? Around 80K CAD Taxes in. Why oh why are vehicles so ridiculously expensive anymore... Side note, still wondering why considering its a Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge umbrella, that they didn't put a Cummins 4BT under the hood. Size constraints maybe? I dunno...Time will tell if the "Fix It Again Tony" diesel will survive.
To the critics of the "off-road" driving: I think it's a combination of insurance and driver experience. Top Gear has deep pockets and insurance policies, and experienced drivers, so they get to race and bash cars all day long. An unknown guy from a website who's not even a professional driver is probably told "Here's the keys to the Jeep, there's an easy dirt road where you can test and demonstrate the features, and then take it on the highway. Don't f-this up." Notice how also the guys from TFL ALWAYS drive off-road super slow even on gravel...
Since a turbo runs off the exaust it seems like a turbo diesel would only be a benefit if your going road speed on pavement. Wouldnt do much good when your going under 5 mph on off road.. I say save your money and go non turbo
Are the leaks still happening in the 2020 model? I’ve watch so many videos about the issue of having a jeep wrangler especially when its raining when you open the driver seat door booom!! Shit happens. 🥴 answer me people I don’t want to hate my dream car 😭😭
I've been looking at every dealership near me and everyone says you can order it they are not out yet where are people buying them I would like to know any information please and thank you
The 2.0L is a fine engine. But, it is a typical gas turbo type. Meaning, it likes to REV to get that power. So, for slow technical off-road...it really isn't ideal. If you will be on the road or highway mostly, then it is a good alternative to the base engine.
Remember, this is an Italian diesel motor. Google some of the problems with this motor in trucks. Not daming this jeep, just want folks to know as these Jeeps are not cheap.
The expensive stuff about the diesel engine is the injection system. The high pressure pump, the injectors themselves. And that's not Italian. It's either Bosch, Siemens, Delphi, Denso or Continental. Bosch, Siemens and Denso are fine. Delphi and Continental are usually problematic. Also the DPF. If you know how it works and let it do it's thing (don't cold start, drive 2 miles and shut it down), it's gonna be fine.
Trust me. This vehicle is American designed and made. Just because Italians own the company doesn’t mean they do anything to it. Well, except writing the checks. All that said. I think I’d rather have a jeep like this instead of the truck..
kalbs89 yes there is a plant in the U S. I read somewhere that the jeep is the most American made vehicle in America. If that makes sense...the plant is in Toledo Ohio I think but not 100%sure on that
WHY would jeep make electronic power steering, knowing the computer can be hacked and screw you up. Is not jeep cherokee the most hacked vehicle? My 2011 jk was not like that! Guess i will not buy a Jeep. I want my vehicles to have less computer input, leave well enough alone.
When people wanted a diesel the Jeep was still simple. Now the sliding ragtop is not a Jeep..that really is ugly and I can see that being an issue with dirt. The radio is too much, it should be not touch screen it's a Jeep And I'm still against Automatic in a Jeep
"Hey honey, do you want to spend $62k on a Jeep Rubicon and then just take it off road on a very paved dirt road?" "Yeah, lets do it honey!" Begins to stab himself because he is an idiot...
I got my new rubicon diesel in about 5 days ago!!! So happy with it
How does acceleration feel off the line and cruising around 40?
If you don't mind, How much did you pay for it? I am looking at one very soon.
What a beautiful vehicle.. just so fucking expensive tbh
I have a 2016 JK 75th Anniversary, I want a 2020 Rubi 3.0L so bad, in light of recent viral activities, this dream is getting further away.
u lucky man!
I wish he knew what a locking diff is. Maybe he could take a jeep offroad. Gravel roads are roads, hence he reviewed this onroad.
Wat motor u got?
Hulk Hogan has something to say to you about the red and yellow combo, brother
My dream car!
yellow+black looks really good. yeah i wish the panel can match the exterior color. i dont know why they only make red panels
Its red because it is a Rubicon
this car is very beautiful !!!
Yellow and red is pretty sweet.
I just laugh at the fact he thought a dirt road was off road. That jeep needs to truly be taken to a more suitable location if you want to test off road. A dirt road even a car can do.
Wat motor do u own?

This car only makes sense with a diesel engine (unless you own a gas station) lol
Fantastic video....good job explaining the options, you are very knowledgeable
Nice design. I would get it once long term reliability is available in a couple of years.
My dream suv
As a jeep WJ driver the JL has very tight steering and almost feels labor some to move by comparison.

What are people's thoughts on engines? Is the Diesel worth the money? Have people had good luck with the newer 4 cyl gas engine vs the gas V6?
I like this Jeep Wrangler with yellow color 💪👍👌
Good review Ashton!
Ya I would hold off. Fiat just redesigned this because gen 2 of the 3.0 SUCKED . Time will tell if this is reliable.
Overall I love Rubicon but I don't liked it's one touch roof opening option. It should be slowly to open beside to touch consciously.
I hope Jeep Wrangler will soon put a lock on the hood without buying from the outside.
Just love it❤❤❤
I love wrangler jeep
One of the best car review I have seen..
**puts it in 4 wheel for a flat dirt road**
Questions about diesel engine:
1- is it loud?
2- do you smell the diesel burn inside the car?
3- any smoke coming out of the exhaust ?
No,no,no
Beautiful vehicle, love Jeep
But, sorry sir I cant buy this.
. I am poor. Simply seeing this
beautiful one.
Awesome video

A dirt road is till a road. That wrangler is designed for off the road(off-road). Take it off the road.
Really nice but so expensive. FCA would see more if they brought the price down some.

Doug jacobs Bullshit. In fact Turbo Engines Provide a hell lot more torque in low rev ranges unlike n/a engines.

Is there a way to stabilize the steering? Does the gladiator also travel as much on the highway
Yeah, there is an aftermarket kit to fix the steering for 200 bucks. Jeep should have fixed that problem years ago themselves.
Loved the review. Thanks!
I've been looking at every dealership near me and everyone says you can order it they are not out yet where are people buying them I would like to know any information please and thank you
I will get this cool car.....!!!
my dream car, praying that one day I can drive rubicon for our church mission ministries here in cordillera philippines
Amen
cool review 👍👍👍
Does the eco diesel come in manual?
No
Nice
With all the epa mandating for diesel why would I pick this over the 2.0L 4 cyl with hybrid?
More torque

Too bad you can't get it in a manual transmission, who tf buys an automatic transmission on their jeeps?
I hope they fix diesel motor issues they have with the same motor in the Dodge trucks

There was zero issue with last diesel. The issue was that THE. EPA said there was an issue. It’s all about keeping the diesel down.
You mean the Gen 2, or are you saying there are issues with the Gen 3 in the RAM?
Remember, this is an Italian diesel motor. Google some of the problems with this motor in trucks. Not daming this jeep, just want folks to know as these Jeeps are not cheap.
@@BaronvonOldenbiker Becouse is not a indutrial engine... this is the V6 developed for Maserati, different kind of engine
I hobe god to give one like this jeep

Semi Auto; it was made made and designed by VM Motori, is there a plant in the US?, just asking, I don’t know

kalbs89 The Diesel engine was originally a Mercedes design they opted not to build.
nice
$62,000. Wow
Very nice.except for the color.
😍😍😍
The hood isn’t vented
*makes an off-roader *
*Dosen't give a manual *
i truly feel this way too omg i have the 19 JL and i just love my Manuel on it 😭
nice my drem car
You can get a V8 mid-engine supercar for that kinda money
And... take it on the Rubicon at MOAB... that ‘Supercar’ won’t leave the parking lot...
Red in yellow out.
Tailgate, not trunk

Drive those f.....g Rubicons in the mud, not all reviews on the streets
Aku mah cuman bisa menghayal punya mobil gitu.
O really nice but I have no money
Neutral to shift to 4 high 🤣
they need to get rid of the red dashboard.... its so ugly
Michelle Versace it should be made optional.
@@youaintblack773 yea but I've seen some rubicons with black dashboards.....

I would rather buy 2 RZR XP4 Turbo S's, and be able to do more things in the dirt than a lame Wrangler.
Top speed who cares ...
Exactly
Good luck with your fiat lololololololololol
fiat? Can you please expand of your comment?
Lol this guy has no clue about a Jeep. Dirt road is “off road”. Lmfao
